Beautiful food both times we have been here but both times the service just lets the experience down a little. We always have to try and find waiting staff and are left for too long with nothing to drink. The last time we came we had to try and find waiting staff to take a drinks order as we were sat for 15 minutes after arriving with no service. A shame because the food is outstanding!
We stayed here for the night whilst travelling up north for a getaway. We checked in and then had some food and a drink. The food took quite a while to come out but it was really nice nonetheless. The room was really nice. The mattress was really good! It's probably one of the best mattresses we've slept on whilst staying at a b&b. We had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was very good! Drinks included, so we had some coffee! We chose to have 2 full breakfasts. Must be local produce. Amazing bacon and sausage! Staff were very friendly. Good place to spend the night!
After reading some of the reviews we nearly cancelled our reservation. We’re so glad that we kept it, as we had a wonderful Saturday evening. Had a pint first, some home made gin and pink wine. Breads, pizza, salad and pudding were really tasty too. The staff were great. Not sure where the negative comments in other reviews come from, as the staff were friendly, attentive and professional. Thanks for a great evening!!

Dropped off our bags then went for lunch. I had the pizza diavolo and my wife the ragu. Both superb. Fresh and plenty of flavour. My base on pizza was slightly burnt in middle but OK.
Room 8 was nice, clean and quiet......initially....... but then the music started blasting out from downstairs at 5pm onwards until nearly midnight!
We were so tired after a long drive and just wanted an early night. We even asked for a quiet room. I understand it was a Friday night but we hardly slept at all. So sad as lovely place, amazing staff, nice location and superb food!
The breakfast was awesome! So much flavour and perfectly cooked.
Not sure if would return due to poor sleep which is a shame.
Brilliant place, friendly staff, wonderful food with lots of choice and service is excellent. One to try for sure. First vist this weekend, will certainly be back 😊
Me and my mum came here on a Sunday afternoon for a Roast dinner, and can say we were blown away by both the food and the service. We were met at the door by James who promptly showed us to our table and talked us through the menu. We noticed that one of our favourite cocktails wasn't listed on the menu and James said it was no problem and could make them for us, this was an extra added touch which made the day even more special. The food was glorious, my mum had Pork & Harrissa skewers, and I had the chorizo scotch egg which may have given the original scotch egg a run for its money. Followed by two roast beef roasts which were super tasty, we asked for more gravy and this wasn't a problem. The servers throughout the meal were attentive and friendly, we really couldn't fault them.
We left with fully tummies and smiles on our faces. We will definitely be back. 10/10
We popped in for a quick drink and I have to say what a lovely place it is. The location is lovely, the staff were all very friendly. The menu looked fab so we'll definitely go back for a meal.
We visit Forest quite often, and since new management has taken over, this has quickly become one of our favourite restaurants.
The food is incredible, and the service is always top-notch.
I never have a bad thing to say about Forest, and I always leave with a (very) full stomach and a smile on my face.
The service here is first class, the attentiveness, friendliness and helfullness of the staff is second to none. The choice of food, both resteraunt and breakfast is varied and great quality and all in a really nice, quiet surroundings. Forts class, thanks to all for a great stay 👏

We went ad 2 couples for a couple of nights in rooms 1 @ 2 comfortable rooms but unfortunately being on the ground floor the noise from the traffic and a late night" rave "
that took place in the car park opposite from 2am until 4am and we realised its not the Hotels fault but we expected whoever was on duty overnight would phone the police due to the noise ! We were then told no-one from the hotel in the building overnight a bit worrying what if there's an emergency a fire for example doors locked and although the keys handed on check in no-one explains that.The rooms were nice but small changes are much needed eg no shelf in the bathroom for toilet bags etc no hook on back of door for clothes etc and the chair at the dressing table was badly soiled ( bit off putting) a upholstery shampoo would help and take no time also a triple glazed window or a modern Venetian blind could be a improvement ! Would return but only if I knew the noise had been resolved.
Stay with family for a night, staff couldn't have been better and made us feel welcome!
The food was amazing and left so full after the breakfast the next day.
Really nice interior and fantastic large beer garden with covered and heated area. Was there for a wedding buffet and the food was quality. Climbing frame and slide for children's entertainment.
Despite some negative reviews, we decided to book for a table of 6 for a Saturday lunch and we were well looked after by two female servers who were both friendly and pleasant, making sure my 7 year old had colouring to do. Yes, the speed of service was a little slower than I’d have liked but the food was all well received. Would recommend giving it a go if you don’t mind paying a touch over the odds.

We chose the Forest for our wedding because of its beautiful location, and its one of our most favourite places.
Not being a wedding venue did concern us a little but we had ideas.
What we did not realise was how fantastic everyone would be.
Rebekah so professional and knowledgeable.
James although new to the Forest was really helpful and accommodating with my requests and both answered all my queries and concerns (many).
An extra thanks to James who made things so much easier he's a credit to your industry.
A spcial thanks to Julie who didn't"t leave my side on the morning of the set up and really helped to take a lot of the stress away.
A big shout out to the whole service staff on the day, clearing things away,chatting to guests and generally making everyone comfortable.
A massive thanks to all the guys behind the bar who worked tirelessly throughout what was a very busy day they were for me, all stars.
Thank you so much to the entire Forest at fence team for helping to make a special day even more memorable.
Great atmosphere with solo singer on. Food a let down for the price. Gammon and eggs, the plate looked half empty compared to other establishments i have visited for the same meal.
