Very pleasant Sunday roast and afternoon together with family and friends for my brothers 60th birthday party. Really good plentiful meals and puds. Lovely, clean but characterful pub inside and nice rear patio garden with comfy seats and umbrellas. Perfect for us slightly rowdy guys to disappear outside without annoying other customers (we behaved ourselves!).
Lovely pub, excellent service, spotless facilities and... Wednesday night music bonus courtesy of The Brawlers
Clean. Comfortable. Caring, friendly staff
Great food! Roasts are lush, pretty much everything is. Great pint of Broadside. Clearly look after their cellar and pipes!
Not over priced or pretentious. Great value and perfect portions, never leave feeling hungry. 👌
Just had Christmas dinner, fantastic food service amazing, atmosphere wonderful,, it really was a great experience, would definitely booked for next year!!!
The Mariners Freehouse is excellent. Food is fantastic! Staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. It has great atmosphere and very comfortable and clean. 5 stars all round. We're definitely coming back again 😁🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
First time I have been here. Food was delicious. I had the chicken and mushroom suet pudding. Best pudding, I have ever tasted. Restaurant very clean. Staff friendly. I will definitely be going back again.
Extremely clean pub and friendly staff.
Was offered a large jug of water and wasnt pressured to order drinks although we did. Good selection on the bar to pick from.
The food was excellent with my grandad stating it was one of best fish and chip dinners he had ever had! I had rack of ribs which was equally delicious.
With drinks it worked out at just over £20 a head which was more than reasonable.
Large beer garden to the rear decorated up with bouys, netting and lots of comfy seats.
Car park could fit around 7 cars but on street parking was available.
We’re so happy we stopped by, it completely turned our day around. Brilliant selection of beers, the food was amazing and the staff were brilliant. 10/10
A delicious menu awaits at this thoughtfully-designed maritime pub in Trimley.
We started with a fruity Romanian Sauvignon Blanc and respectable Côtes du Rhône, as we settled into their cosy dining room. The staff were very polite, professional and knowledgeable, if a little absent in the dining room.
The smoked salmon starter was tasty and generous. This generosity continued into the main courses, where the pie of the day was an enormous chicken and mushroom suet pudding. It was vast. And delicious. And i didn’t want it to end, but was beaten by it. Their plating really is substantial! A shame, as I’d have loved one of their great-sounding desserts, but that was impossible.
The scampi was gorgeous but the triple-cooked chips were on the dark brown side. Not sure what happened there. We overheard genuine praise from other tables too. Notably the BBQ ribs, but mainly the lasagna special, being the best they’d ever tasted. We’ll be back to check on these!
In all, it’s a great location and we overlooked their wide outdoor area that looked perfect for a warm spring or summer day (sadly the weather hadn’t reached that point yet). It’s clean, dog-friendly, and with a high standard that is disarmingly unpretentious.
For a corner of Suffolk that doesn’t have too many quality options, The Mariners Freehouse should definitely be shortlisted as a go-to in the area.
Popped down for some food and wasn't as hungry as I thought so I tried 2 dishes of the nibbles menu.
A whitebait and a haloumi fries with a peanut sauce, both highly recommended.
Fantastic service and a really pleasant pub to visit.
