Galloping Gourmates
Our November Night Out began with a walk along Felixstowe prom, what an amazingly wonderful place. How the gardens, new pier, spar pavilion have put new vigour into the town.
As we approached the Fludyers Hotel it soon became apparent how this beautifully restored Edwardian hotel and restaurant, has enhanced this end of #Felixstowe, just a few yards from the beach.
The evening began with..,
A bottle of Montepulciano., most highly recommended.
Our starters were wonderful :Phil ;had toasted Greek Style Salad: absolutely sublime flavours.
Frank :- Gin and Tonic Cured Salmon, a most unusual pairing, but worked so well, as Frank cleared his plate, and Chris with Chicken Liver Parfit.
Mains were : Beef Wellington ( to die for)
Frank Lamb Rump with mix of vegetables, and Chris with Herb Crusted Rack Of Lamb. All cooked to perfection.
The chips were crispy and chunky but soft on the inside, and the vegetables and sides delicious.
For pudding, for those followers , two most wonderful Cheese Dishes and for Frank , a Roast fig and and almond crumble.
The staff were great, and service attentive.
The whole meal from start to finish was perfection.
I would say I am hard to please, but this blew me away, and I would highly recommend popping along and enjoy.
We have been here many times. The location is beautiful, and the service and food never fails to surprise us.
The highlights are the Tempura prawns and sweet potato fries. They are so light, not fatty and absolutely delicious which is not something I can say about many places. Definitely recommend this place!
At first glance the food can look a bit expensive BUT not really! A pot of tea gives you two WHOLE cups of tea - often you don't get this. We ordered a Victoria sandwich cake which turned out to be a very lovely cupcake to be eaten with a fork on the stylish slate slab - delicious with quick efficient service in with that price - worth every penny!!
