Stopped in here after having a day at Lullingstone Castle. Staff were friendly, our server Claire was wonderful. Quick service and food was wonderful. My hubby had the Signature burger ( sorry no pic!) and said it was one of the best burgers hes ever had. Puddings were sticky toffee pudding and a Honey Pot which were delicious. We will definitely be back again, hopefully before Christmas.

The food is really lovely, especially the roast and the pie. As per the photos, the kids roast was massive and kids meals in general a good size. Everything had sooo much flavour and the staff were really friendly and attentive. We were sat quickly and Everything was efficient and poilte. Everything you would hope for. Will defo be back
Have been here many times, always lovely. Particularly lunch/dinner menu is great, and desserts! However today it was just a 5* experience all round. Came as a group of 10 for birthday celebrations, served by the wonderful Claire. Food was absolutely delicious, used the app for discounts, drinks were great, we were seated on a great spacious table, pub was reasonably quiet so felt like we had a whole section to ourselves. They brought out a Happy Birthday plate and candle and sung happy birthday - just the icing on the cake! Claire was absolutely amazing, so attentive, probably one of the best server experiences I’ve had in a restaurant/pub in a long time. I had the steak which was delicious, the brownie and banoffee pie also great! There’s also the beautiful village to explore after, running stream to paddle in & bundles of outdoor seating in the sunshine. Thank you!
Had a really nice family meal here sitting outside on the patio the quality of the food here is excellent especially the slow cooked belly pork.
Great outside seating area outside the pub right by a little stream kids and adults can paddle in. The food and service is also top-class
I loved my rib eye steak, my partner said her chicken wasn't cooked enough, chips both fat and skinny were really nice. The crumble desert was great. was shocked at the price of a pint of lager, would not normally pay that much! otherwise all good.
What a gem! Went there for my first time today and what a lovely place, excellent Greek waiter and superb food! Best onion ring I've ever had!
Will be back soon to try the pie and sit outside in the sun.
We had an absolutley wonderful day at 'the lion'.
Table for 8 and every single thing was spot on! Food was delicious and our waiter was warm and welcoming.
Picturesque walk by the river Darenth, we all had a paddle in the cool water and the kids tried to catch small fish with a net. Plenty of out door seating and lots of doggies about, a really lovely relaxed family feel. A true gem!
We were greeted at the door and acknowledged very quickly, Tina took our order and was wonderful from start to finish smiling and joking, even made my grandparents smile. All the food was a perfect portion size and tasted as wonderful as it looked! The only thing was the toilets I used didn’t seem to have a toilet seat otherwise everywhere was lovely and clean.
I took my sister to The Lion yesterday for lunch on her birthday. We used to visit the village as children. On entering we were met with warmth and taken to a lovely table- the entire pub is glorious. Claire and her team gave a masterclass in hospitality and we had such a lovely time. My lamb duo main course was sublime. After a walk in the village we returned to sit in the sun over coffee. Thank you from us both.
The staff were polite, friendly and welcoming. The dining room had a lovely atmosphere and was clean and comfortable. I wish I could remember our waitresses name because she was amazing! She was so approachable, friendly, warm and very efficient. She had a wonderful nature about her! The food was outstanding to the point where I would say that It was the best roast dinner I have eaten in a restaurant. All in all, I would, and have recommended The Lion to friends, family and work colleagues. It is our wedding anniversary this Sunday 10th and we are hoping to book again at the Lion. Thank you all for such a lovely experience at The Lion Pub and Restaurant.
A beautiful place to stop by the river Darent and enjoy the wonderful 16th century pub where the food and service is fantastic. If you get a chance stop here, it’s tremendous.
Outside seating next to the river. Order by app at the table or at the bar. Perfect for a summers day drink. Food is not too expensive but good quality. One of the good ones!
A large group of us came here for a birthday gathering. Nice pub, nice location. The staff were friendly and accommodating. It was quite busy when we visited and the stress was palpable amongst staff at times, but nonetheless our hosts were very polite and helpful. Food was okay, some dishes were great, whilst others were either average or underwhelming. Found the sausage roll starter - meat quality was not so great. The chicken schnitzel was a bit dry, but the calamari and halloumi starters were very good, as were the burgers and the fish and chips. The portion sizes were huge! Would maybe try here again in a much smaller group next time. It's also dog friendly, which is always worth an extra star in my humble opinion.
Lovely pub. We enjoyed our roast dinner. The pub has a large and lovely garden. The waiter was really good at checking allergens with the kitchen and finding an option I could enjoy. Unfortunately the apps allergens did not match the kitchens infomation which made the process more complicated but the team were good at checking.
I have visited The Lion on many occasions and I can say I've always had a great time whether a group of friends or one on one. The food has been beyond expectations and arrived in good time after ordering. A great selection on offer and very tasty. Without leaving it there, the staff are always friendly, from the bar staff to kitchen chef and especially the main manager...she's very friendly and attentive to your needs. A great all rounder. Five Stars
Thoroughly pleasant from start to finish.
Staff very welcoming and food was delicious.
Good range available and chef was able to give my husband a substitute sauce to avoid bacon.
Staff are really friendly and the food is great. Beer garden is excellent in the summer. The location, right by the mill and the river just adds to the quaint vibe. The iconic bridge which is at least 500 years old really adds to the character of Farningham. This pub is amazing for families and we often take our kids who enjoy being outdoors. I highly recommend it.
