One word to sum up the Museum Inn...WOW! Location...in a beautiful village where every property is a thatched chocolate box cottage, and the surrounding countryside is breathtaking. Food....absolutely delicious, fresh, tasty. Room...huge, comfortable, luxurious, so much attention to detail. Staff....friendly, helpful, attentive. Its a beautiful place in a stunning location and we can't wait to stay again! It's perfect. AND, very importantly, our furry dog baby was most welcome. We were in our way to Swanage for a few days, but wanted to stay here instead!! Thank you, Museum Inn.

My husband and I came from Poole for a one night stay with our two dogs. I was expecting nice but this place was something else. We stayed in a stable which was perfect for easy access with the dogs and had the feel of a good hotel. Throughout the day we had a lovely lunch outside, went for a beautiful walk on the doorstep, had a divine, and I mean divine evening meal. The staff are wonderful and work so hard to ensure your every need is met. Having stayed in many similar and I would say overpriced establishments in this country, I say this place tops them all for valve for money ( we would of happily paid an extra £100 for our room). The food is underpriced in my opinion for the fantastic quality , the menu is vast, something for everyone and the ambiance and location is just picture postcard perfect. Luckily for us we only live 20 miles away so we will be back….often 🫶.

My boyfriend, dog and I stayed here this past weekend and loved every second of it. We stayed in a Stables room, and even though it was on a smaller side, I loved everything the room offered. The bed was so comfortable and the pillow spray was a nice touch. I enjoyed the lavender toiletries, shower cap and earplugs. It was nice to have heavy curtains to block out light and I was able to get a great night's sleep because of it. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was delicious, truly set us up for the day ahead. My dog loved it as well, and I loved seeing the other dogs who were also staying on a property. The food at the pub was delicious and the crab and prawn pasta was some of the best pasta I've ever had! Dogs are allowed in the pub which was also a huge plus. The surrounding area was quiet, beautiful and a great place for a stroll with your dog. Service was excellent throughout and I can't wait to visit here again!

Booked a table for 4- very good food and drinks, waitress worked hard as 1 staff had just gone home, we had been offered a discount due to small delay but not taken up as waitress had worked very hard. Well done to managing a busy lunch time. Would fully recommend to others. Well done to all involved in running the facility, will recommend to friends and family

Popped in for lunch. It was our first visit and it definitely won't be the last. Food and service was excellent. My husband had seafood with pasta and I had fishcakes. Both were delicious and piping hot. Great customer service from the barman/waiter.

Beautiful, rural location. Adequate room, but offset very positively by some of the best food I've experienced in a good while. Really lovely, welcoming staff. Bonza

Lovely evening spent in this quaint traditional country inn. We had a fabulous meal with excellent service - highly recommend the fishcakes ! Our Sat Nav sent us down some narrow country roads to get there - glad we didn't encounter any oncoming traffic. Thankfully we found a more direct way home. We will definitely go again.

Stopped here for food as we were staying in the area. The welcome was very good, fantastic choice of local drinks. Food was amazing, had the pork rib eye and the burger, then the brownie for dessert which was the best I've had. Also dog friendly which was a bonus. Highly recommended.

It was raining hard when we arrived but had a warm and friendly welcolme as we entered. The food was excellent and the service prompt, with a smile and a friendly interest in us. We will certainly return again as local - especially with a 25% discount on Wednesdays once you join the Butcombe Loyalty Club.!

Loved our stay at the Museum Inn's - 'Mole Cottage'. We stayed here for our wedding at Larmer Tree and the location was perfect. The cottage is really lovely with each room being really thoughtfully decorated and really spacious. The downstairs areas was great for a group gathering both inside and out and perfect for the bridal party getting ready. We had takeaway lunch from the museum Inn on Saturday and then a big group meal in the pub on Sunday- both were great. the staff couldn't have done more to make us feel welcomed and celebrated. We'll be back!

Came here for a Sunday roast with a large group of friends. The food was delicious, but it was the service that stole the show. Lots of laughs and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend!
