Lovely friendly staff, let me charge my bike battery whilst dining. Fish n chips were tasty and a big portion for bargain price at moment. Friend enjoyed his Cumberland sausage.

After many recommendations, we stayed overnight in our campervan. Staff were very welcoming, and the food was wonderful. One of the reasons why we booked was because of its very close proximity to the beach. we had an awesome stop over, and the dogs loved it.

Lovely setting, great menus (several of them!) and friendly service. Several beers supplied by GK. Deuchars IPA and Ale Fresco available on my visit.

Absolutely first class experience from entering the premises to leaving them. We'd booked in advance but at the time we arrived it wasn't too busy. Visited with my son and little granddaughter. Seated in the window with a view of the river. Service was first class. Never without a drink or attention. I ordered the nut roast Sunday lunch. Son ordered beef and granddaughter had pizza (kids, eh!). The meals arrived hot and looked delicious. We added mash and cauliflower cheese, which were divine. All in all the meals were great. Best Sunday lunch I've ever had actually. The nut roast was a very generous portion and absolutely delicious. We ordered desserts: chocolate torte with cherries and ice cream. Very rich. I had sticky toffee pudding with hot toffee sauce and ice cream. To die for. Granddaughter had vanilla ice cream. Lattes, Fruit Shoot and lager drinks consumed. Honestly a faultless dining experience. Attentive staff. Efficient service and outstanding food. If I didn't live 1.5 hours drive away I'd be a regular visitor. Big car park with overflow. Good toilet facilities. Beautiful restaurant. Outdoor seating and tables. Riverside walks and woodland walks. Perfect location altogether.

Visited for lunch during up to 50% menu. Nice setting by the river. We enjoyed 3 courses. The food was good, we all sampled each others. The only thing I would return for was the fish and chips, the batter was lovely and light.

Came here for a birthday afternoon tea, we only booked the previous day and they were very accommodating. The afternoon tea was amazing and so filling, it was a full tradition, with the added bonus of extra savoury bits. For the savoury We had cheese & spring onion, tuna & sweetcorn and egg sandwiches, open prawn cocktails on a baguette, sausage rolls & fish cakes. Sweet treats were macaroons, chocolate tart, scone with clotted cream and jam, along with a choice of carrot, chocolate or Victoria sponge cake, all served with unlimited tea or coffee and a complimentary prosecco for the birthday girl. The staff were all very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Lovely open plan restaurant with lots of light, you would have a clear view of the river Trent, however there is a large gazebo in front of the window. It is set out of the way and unless you lived close by, you would need a car to get there. Will definitely be coming back to try the early bird menu.

When our friends suggested a visit to the fabulous Farndon Ferry Bar & Bistro with 50% off most mains during November, how could we refuse? It’s a great place to relax and unwind with friends. It has a buzzy atmosphere with friendly & knowledgeable staff. The menu offers something to suit all tastes. The perfect portion sizes enabled us to have 3 courses. Overall it was a lovely dining experience. The next time I visit will be during the day, to take in the amazing views of the River Trent which runs next to the restaurant car park. Our delicious meal of freshly prepared, locally sourced ingredients comprised: Starters 🔹 Red Onion & Whipped Goats Cheese Tart Tatin with Balsamic Carmel & Winter Leaves 🔹 Tempura Squid with Katsu Curry Mayonnaise & Coriander Cress (gf) 🔹 Indian Spiced Salmon Fishcakes with Peshwari Garnish, Apple, Coconut & Coriander 🔹 Chicken Liver Parfait with Toast & Onion Jam (gf) Mains 🔹 Minced Steak & Onion Pie with Mash Potato & Peas 🔹 Own Recipes Cumberland Sausages with Mash, Peas, Onion & Gravy 🔹 Gourmet Burger from Rump Steak Mince served with Stilton, Bacon, Toasted Sesame Bun, Fries & Relish 🔹 Slow Braised Pork Shoulder, Chickpea & Red Pepper Cassoulet, Bacon & Crisp Kale (gf) Desserts 🔹 Baked Apple Crumble with Custard (gf) 🔹 Coconut Rice Pudding with Yuzo Gel (ve) (gf) 🔹Sticky Toffee Pudding with Butterscotch Sauce & Vanilla Ice Cream There was a good choice of cask ales, continental lagers, and wines. The house red was delicious. FINAL WORD: The 50% off was a complete bonus and the restaurant was full. It’s worth visiting their website to see what other offers & events they have planned. Their Christmas Brochure is out now. My friend who dined with us has already booked her works Christmas ‘do’ here 🥳 Reserving a table would be advised.

Edit new review (20/9) - came again today for lunch with Grandparents. Brilliant food - vegan curry (it was more like a broth tbh) and their haddock & chips. Desserts were also top - vegan chocolate tart (initially given wrong dessert but sorted out soon enough) & cheesecake! The waitress that served us today was very friendly and helpful. Another great experience but maybe the food 4 star this time. 3 weeks ago - Fantastic restaurant! Vegan burger was great as well as Dad's steak and stilton ciabatta. Mum's food brilliant as well - goats cheese, sun blushed tomato and rocket one. Very friendly waitresses and manager. Service was a bit long. Also, nice views across to the river and a decent walk after you've eaten around the old village. Can't wait to visit again soon for an evening meal next time.

Having just moved to the area, we took our parents to this pub/restaurant. We had starters which were delicious and a Sunday roast which was delicious and the Beef was so tender. I go to say I have not had such a good Sunday lunch for a very long time but this one hit the bullseye. On top of great food we literally had fantastic service from the team especially Emily our waitress. Every part of the service was how all pubs and restaurants should be like. Having just retired from working and running pubs for 50 years I can honestly say this visit was truly amazing. Well done to the managers and the team. Thank you Colin George 👍

What a lovely place! Was recommended to us by a local antiques centre for the tapas. It was a bit blustery so we sat inside - spacious and welcoming. The food was delicious and plentiful. We'll definitely revisit (and hopefully sit outside by the river) on our next antiques hunt.

Came here for a work event and can honestly say the food and drink was amazing. They had really good vegan options. This place is a hidden gem tucked in Newark.

We went with a group of people and had a great meal. Service was good, serving staff were excellent. The only slight drawback was that the room we occupied had a lowish ceiling and with lots of people talking it was very noisy. But that did mean that everyone was having a good time.

The Farndon Ferry was pretty good. Even on a Tueaday night, you needed a reservation as it was busy. The menu is broad and varied. There's some great veggie options which was fab and the food we ordered was super. The price was reasonable too. The only thing that was a little off was the service. At first it was super attentive but over the course of the evening, we had to wait long periods of time to catch staffs attention. It wasn't terrible and some feedback was shared when we left which was taken well and we still honoured the automatically added service charge (I would say watch out for that, but the server actually points it out). All and all, we will be back as the food was lovely. Just don't be in a rush to get off.

Beautiful place, situated next to the river Trent, with panaramic windows so you can enjoy views of the river. A marquet outside for those who wish to sit in the shade and enjoy a bite to eat. Indoors is beautifully decorated and set out, staff very attentive, excellent menu options. But I cannot comment on the food as I only went in for coffee. My friends had a good sized full cup of coffee, whereas I had a black coffee and only had 2/3 of a small cup, which I appreciate is due to the measures from the coffee machine, but a top up of hot water would have been nice. The cake my friends had also seemed nice and very good portions. I did notice some vegan dessert options on the menu.

Beautiful setting and atmosphere, right beside the river and they had a dj playing summer vibes which really added to the atmosphere. We had tapas: lamb was good, prawns good, but the satay was chewy, and the potato based ones were very dry and not very enjoyable. Would go again for drinks definitely

17:00 on a Monday - Popped in on the off chance as we had heard it was a good place to eat and we were in no rush and fancied somewhere different (to us). We had the Fish and chips and the Thai Fish Bowl with Bread and butter. Both meals were delicious and piping hot. Light Fluffy batter on the fish and a lovely Tartar Sauce The Thai Fish bowl was just big enough and there was abundant seafood in it. We made do with the offered bottle of water to wash it down, and we had no room for anything else. One thing to note was a 10% service charge automatically added to the final bill.
