What an excellent evening. I heard on the grapevine that a new bike night was starting up so I popped along, with a few friends. We received an amazing welcome from the staff and the locals, and we ordered the Bike night special, Burger and Chips twice for £19.95. But what a burger, hand crafted and built to order, yup just tell em what you want on your burger and they will sort it 😉 Served with a generous portion of skins on chips, delicious 😋 And all those pretty bikes to look at. We will definitely pop in again before the end of season.

Excellent Sunday roast, great service and atmosphere. The staff are attentive and genuinely lovely! They stock a wide range of gin, vodka and beer. Many thanks for a spot on meal for our family today. 😁

Went for the quiz night and a meal, and had a cracking time. The food was wonderful, the onion rings and chips especially, and the quiz was very entertaining. The host was witty but brief, clear yet cunning, and although some of the music was from unfamiliar decades, there seemed to be enough in the questions for everyone to shine. However, the night of our visit may well go down in the pub's history. There was obviously plenty of tension in the air, and this was due to two competing teams, from the same business networking group, partaking in jovial banter, with an undercurrent of expectance. Apparently, all week, one side had been suggesting they would be victorious, you'll never guess which... At one table was a team was called 'Pink Ladies' on another 'Better Than The Pink Ladies'. Who would win? Which would one would get "the Danny"? After the marks had been added, the host announced the scores in reverse order, and the tension in the pub began to build. You could hear a drip from the Guinness tap drop. The host must have been wetting himself because he knew that 'Pink Ladies' and 'Better Than The Pink Ladies' were in the top two, but he milked enough to keep drinks on the table and breaths held. And, as he announced the glorious victor, there was a roar from the crowd, gasps and cheers from the winners, and excruciating howls from their opponents, because by one solitary point, the 'Pink Ladies' had triumphed against all odds. It all seemed very good natured, handshakes all round, and it was great to see a table of very happy 'pink' faces. Overall, the Golden Lion staff were wonderful and attentive, kept the table clear of empties and did everything with a smile. We'll be back.

Nice pub. Just needs to be feeling a bit more cosy.. Bar service wasn't always quickest sometimes either. Just needs that little... Extra 👍🍻

Very welcoming. My dog was allowed in too. Toilets are lovely very clean with good quality hand wash and moisture cream. The roast beef dinner was wonderful with lots of veg all served fresh and hot. Just a passing visit otherwise would probably be regular 😊

The secret garden out the back is a charm and the feel of the place is pleasant with a good range of beers. However, I bought a Quak beer (one of my favourite Belgian brews) sometime either last year or earlier this year and it costed roughly £6, pricey but it is a specialist import after all. I went in a month ago to buy it again and they are now charging somewhere between £8-£9 for said beer... The barmaid didn't warn me of the price before proceeding to crack it open either which I thought was a silly move. How is that hike in price justified even? Really nice food though.

Delicious food. Lambs liver was beautifully cooked and very reasonably priced. Nice choice of desserts but unfortunately didn't have space for one. Friendly staff.
