AMAZING!. Best seafood! You must visit Fins!! Hot shellfish platter is fantastic!
Magic Sea food. We went to Fins about 6 months ago, after threatening to go for years. The wait was worth it we arrived a little early before they had changed the prices on the boards, that was lucky as they had the deciency to offer us the meals at the price advertised on arrival, result.
Any way back to the food the Mrs had the scallops and black pudding and I had the Langoustines. I was a little perlplexed by the cutlery laid down before me, prongs and a funny fork, but it was good as I asked the waitress what I was supposed to do with it and she quite happily showed me. The scallops were amazing and it was that really nice black pudding so a great start for her. As for me well I had never eaten langoustine before but I got tore right in and it was a great experience and the taste was just lovely. Big mmmm in both our belly's.
Main courses were Turbot for myself and the missus chose the sea bass. The food was presented lovely and it was smaller that I would have thought it would be, but I had never eaten in somewhere this posh previously. Anyway both can with lovely vegies and we both got into it and we weren't dissappointed it was cooked perfectly. The turbot was the softest fich I had ever had and the flavour was amazing. The sea bass came out with I think noodles and she loved it.
Everything was nice and relaxed and none of the wee stresses that you sometimes find when you eat at prestiege restaurants some people can be a little up them selves but here it wasnt like that at all.
Over all this was a nice place to eat, a wee bit pricey but you do get great service and nice surroundings.

What an amazing find! I find it hard to find a decent fish restaurant these days so I was made up to find this little place. When you arrive you go through a little courtyard with a shop selling craft foods and beverages and fresh fish. We had booked online for the restaurant but we were the one ones in there due to the time of our booking. The menu wasn’t extensive but it was sufficient. There were 5 in our party including our 8 year old fussy eater 😂. We had fresh Scallops, fresh mussels, tempura langoustines, tempura chicken and salmon pate for starters. Kids gosh and chips, fish and chips, halibut and bacon with poached egg and 2 fish mixed grill. The mixed grill had ‘whatever fish the chef decided to grab’ on it (servers words 😂), turned out to be halibut, salmon, sea bream, langoustine and clams. It was all very fresh and best we’ve had. The chips were absolutely gorgeous too. They don’t serve alcohol though and so you have to buy it from the shop and take it in with you which is no problem 😉
Great little find! Fresh local seafood with plenty to choose from. Owner and staff are super friendly and they will even open the farm shop for you after your meal with lots of local produce to take home. Highly recommend!
My wife and I booked a table at fins this afternoon, we had our dog with us which meant we needed to sit in the small seating area outside.
This wasn’t a problem as the sun was shining.
The food was superb and was a 30th anniversary celebration for us.
We had Cullen Skink followed by Hot Shellfish platter , prices were very reasonable
Friendly staff and beautiful food , we will return again
Highly recommended
I have been visiting this place for years and I am glad it has not changed a bit. Everything is fresh and every bite is like you are one with the sea! The sauces made by the chef amplify this feeling. At the end you feel like a Homeric hero, you want to return home but you do not want this tasting trip to end!
Food was amazing. Not busy but still felt cosy. The smoked trout filled profiterole was lovely.
Our server, Freya, was an absolute delight. And the food was quite good!
Absolutely amazing and really delicious food, can suggest everyone 😀 I was impressed about serving and really delicious food
This is the real deal. Honest and authentic, the original owners, founded and built this fabulous restaurant with a generous and natural penchant for hospitality and more importantly for a locally sourced and an excellently executed seafood menu. The langoustine was the best I had ever tasted.. no need to mask the natural, creamy taste with sauces, this is the real deal. The restaurant is now being run by a longtime business partner who carries on the wonderful Thain vision. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
Fins is an absolute gem of a seafood restaurant, tucked in the roadside of Fairlie, with beautiful walks to surround.
I had the halibut, cooked to perfection in a seafood Thai broth. The ingredients were fresh, not too pungent, allowing for the delicate taste of the fish to grace the pallate.
My partner had the half lobster which was a buttery delight. The bisque was magnificently glossy.
Excellent prices for fresh from the sea dining.
Service was prompt and professional. Our waiter was just enough of attentive without being invasive. First class.
Will be back.
Would highly recommend.
Ate here today for the first time. What a lovely atmosphere! The food was phenomenal! Wonderful service! Absolutely fabulous! Lovely wee shop too. Would recommend 100%!
Excellent fresh seafood, prepared to a high standard. We had 3 courses and all were delicious. The restaurant was cosy and welcoming. Highly recommended!
Last night I had the best lobster with lemon buerre blanc I've ever had the delight to enjoy (although Umbertos in New York comes close). Think I detected a delicious Tarragon taste in there too which really made it the winner. So very good. Came with crispy triple fried chips and salad too. A seafood treat feast awaits.
I’ve been out the country for 12 years, but sadly I,hadn’t visited here for about 22 years,I have no idea why, will be visiting a lot more frequently now.Fresh seafood ,beautifully presented and prepared ,delicious.Wee tip,the bread is delicious. The farm shop attached is also great
6 of us booked Saturday 26th for an early evening meal, waiters very sweet but slow to take our order... langostines in a starter where tiny tails and very hard to peel, finger bowls were too small, no more paper napkins were offered with the main meals,we had to ask for lemon to go with the oysters, the tempura langustines pretty tasteless, no condiments were offered i.e salad oil etc during the meal ..the halibut main came with mussels instead of clams and the mash Portion it sat on was tiny, I had moules and there was an un pleasant and over powering taste of wood smoke in the whole dish, this was not mentioned on the menu and I left my main for others to try,we bought our own drinks but the cans were not cleared and we took them home again, no one asked if we minded doing this, none of us had a sweet or side dishes because it was all a bit pricey, place has Potential but it wont be my go to place, sorry guys.
Best fish I've ever had. I had the haddock and chips, as I'm not to adventurous, but the best piece of fish ever. Lovely little restaurant
I can highly recommend Tom's seafood platters and dressed salmon which he prepared for our daughter's wedding lunch recently. Highest of quality and beautifully presented!
1st class service and beautiful seafood.cant find anything negative to say only positives."maggie" our server made us feel very welcome and looked after us very well.10 out of 10.
This place really is a hidden gem. Didn't know what to expect at first. This is a wonderful, very small restaurant serving top quality fresh seafood. I had the most incredible shellfish platter, which included two lobsters!! I would highly recommend anyone in the area to come down here for something a little special.
