Updated: visited 3 times already and still our best go to for lunch whenever we visit peak district.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Stella's Kitchen and I have to say, I was blown away by the delicious food and the warm hospitality of the host. Every dish was bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. Stella was so warm that it was clear that she had put lot of love and care into every aspect of the meal. Definitely going back again. If you are travelling to the Peak District, this is a must visit place for amazing food.
We were recommended this place by a friend of a friend. I would firstly say don't let appearances put you off, it is someone's home but I would say well worth going in and enjoying. The whole experience is very homely.
Our group was large and a few people were late to the meal but this was able to be accommodated. We were also given a non-alcoholic drink which we didn't expect due to the lack of license. This was very welcome.
The starter was tasty and we loved the spicy sauce! The main meal was great, we loved the bean dish we were served. Everything was full of flavour and all our intolerances were met.
The flavours were so good I did consider giving a 5 star but the following points push it down for me.
The servers were shy and quiet, verging on a little awkward - Stella came back towards the end of the meal and that helped a bit
The starters and desserts are not buffet style, they were chosen by the restaurant. This is quite risky especially with a big group as not everyone liked both. Also the portions for these courses were small.
Having the words buffet to describe the experience led us to feel a little disappointed especially at the cost - perhaps our expectations were a little high. 5 dishes as a buffet despite them being good, didn't make it feel like a buffet and a few of our large group were left hungry, having not wanted to eat portions and portions of the same thing. There was enough food though on the whole, more diversity would have been nice.
Saw a sign for Afro Caribbean food in a local village and called in for refreshment. Thankfully she had room for serving drinks but her tables were booked up for her lunch menu.
Stella is a lovely and lively character, we bought some of her ginger scones to take away, just finished one of them, it was excellent, tasted the ginger all the way through the scone. When we are next going to be in the area we will make sure we book a table.
Food was incredible here, such a great find in the middle of the peak district. We had the 3 different sharing platters each with its own unique parts and flavours, tender meat, aromatic fish curry, and crispy fritters. Given this is the only Carribbean restaurant for miles it's not like they're complacent as the love and attention put into each dish really shows. The restaurant is a very nice relaxed home style dining experience and I will be returning again for certain.

Everything is perfect. There’s really nothing else you can say. It’s perfect in every single way. It’s one of the best meals I’ve had in my life. Authentic home cooked Greek meal with a fun homey atmosphere. We ate at 23 restaurants on the island and this is the only one to get a perfect 20/20 rating on 6 different criteria.
Found Stella's Kitchen on a recent stay in the local village of Eyam. Ordered a delicious (and filling) takeaway on the Sunday and then came back again for lunch during the week.
Food is amazing, Stella and her team are all so friendly and helpful and it was lovely to sit in her garden and watch the chickens!
Highly recommended 😍
The food is excellent and both ladies were working really hard to get everyone's orders out. Very freshly cooked, so longer to wait but SO worth it. Xx
Came across this gem when finding places on Google and Stella did not disappoint. We shared a meat platter: plantains were amazing. Both the skewers and meat balls were nice and their home made hot sauce was so good. Chickens are walking around whilst you eat and the service is super friendly. Totally recommend!
Had a lovely lunch here today - goat curry, peanut butter chicken and fried plantain - all lovely. Service was very friendly and we were so glad we went. Food was very filling which meant we had to take our cakes away with us! Would definitely visit again. Just a shame we were the only ones there today as the food was amazing.
I only ended up going here because there was a space free at the table, and I am so glad I went!
Not only is the food absolutely perfect, but the atmosphere is wonderful!!!!
This place, 100% deserves more recognition for how delicious they are. I will be returning soon!!!
Thank you guys :D I would give you six stars, if I could 🫶❤️
