A couple of days in Exeter for our anniversary. Had a Google search of places to eat and this place sounded right up our street. So pleased we went with it, loved the smaller set up, lovely staff and the food was tasty, hot and plentiful. Great cocktails. We were so full from the amazing sharing board we had to take away our dessert to enjoy in bed at our hotel. If you haven't been here I would recommend you go and we will definitely be back.Thank you for a wonderful meal!
Love at first sight and bite! And a place that is now added to my favourite places to eat in Exeter. Delicious food, very nice and warm hospitality, fresh and yummy sea food, Portuguese music and on top of it all, the most delicious Pastéis de Nata you have ever tasted outside Portugal ❤️
The real deal. You could be mistaken for thinking you were eating out in Portugal, which I have done many times.
Overall the food was excellent and the Portuguese house white great - of course. The chouriço was exceptional. Desserts, as ever for any true Portuguese restaurant, were delicious.
The restaurant was quite small, so booking ahead at busier times is recommended.
We'd never been to a Portuguese restaurant before but we wanted to try something new - we were in Exeter just for one night. We are so glad we visited. It was absolutely delicious! I had the fish and pasta stew (not something I'd had before) and I'm so glad I did. The only disappointment was that we didn't have enough room for dessert as u had my eye on the coconut cake. We would definitely come back again if we were in the area. Our food was washed down nicely by a jug of sangria (we got about 6 glasses from it).
The food was great!
We had the 3 starters for £6 deal and got the chicken dough ball, the hake pastry, and the samosa filled with goat cheese.
As a main we shared the mar e terra which was amazing! The meats were grilled perfectly and the octopus and shrimp were of great quality, which made it well worth the price.
We also shared a jug of the red sangria. I’ve never had the cherry liqueur Ginjinha but it fit amazingly in the sangria.
I can definitely recommend eating here.
The staff is nice and considerate, and the decorations with the tiles on the walls is very nice.
We stumbled upon this beautiful restaurant and thankfully was able to get a booking just in time for the evening after exploring Exeter city.
The prawns croquettes were delicious, we had to order more because we enjoyed them so much.
I really enjoyed the octopus, managed to spill some of the oily sauce on my white top but it was worth it! Flavours were mindblowing and the octopus meat was tender and cooked to perfection!
Incredible food, incredible service. Relaxed atmosphere, what more could you want. It actually felt like we were in Portugal! Great work team Cork and Tile! Definitely worthy of a top 5 place in Exeter!
If you are thinking of walking past this wonderful place, stop!! This is a delightful little Portuguese restaurant/cafe bar that serves great food and drinks. The coffee is sooo nice and far better than the usual chain places around. The vegan chocolate brownies are so nice. The menu caters for all different foodies. You will not be disappointed that you stopped here. It's also nice to get the great service as well. Highly recommended.
The food is delicious! My husband and I picked The Cork and Tile for date night and had fun picking from a well organized and easy to understand menu, this was our first time eating Portuguese food. We did note that the menu online has many dishes that were missing from the menu we were given in-house. Dessert is a must, I got the classic custard tart and my husband got the coconut cake with ice cream and were both supremely happy with our choices. The ambiance was cozy, perfect for date night. The service was fine, we were left alone a lot and would have liked to be checked on a little more often, we waited 20 minutes to ask for the bill. We weren’t in a hurry though so didn’t feel the need to get up and ask or go out of our way to get someone’s attention. We’ll be back, our hope is to conquer the whole dessert menu after a while!
A very good restaurant for Portuguese food. And they are very welcoming and the food is made with care. It made me feel back to Portugal in a meal. It worth the visit.
It's a beautiful place, foods are also beautifully designed and garnished, they were served hot and taste good but it could be more tasteful.
Good food with reasonable prices (we had the bread sausage- very tasty) Lovely friendly staff. Quiet table found for us at last minute off the street good covid systems in place. They are continuing with takeaway through the lockdown
I know Portugal reasonably well, and I have to say that the food here is both authentic and delicious. The shrimp and the meat filled pastries were out of this world, and the Bacalhau à Brás (Salted cod) was the most delicate and expertly prepared version that I have ever eaten, at least outside Portugal.
Fortunately I was also able to enjoy one of their excellent cakes along with coffee. Well done Exeter! I don't think that, when it comes to Portuguese food, London can honestly match this. Muito obrigado!
Nice selection of Portuguese food and wines. Good service. Not quite up to the best of Portuguese standards but great for the price.
Fantastic octopus. Highly recommended! If we're ever in Exeter again we will be back for more!
Booked for a birthday lunch for two, very quiet. Ordering was slightly confusing but the waiter was very helpful. One of the fried starters was still frozen inside, the staff were mortified, immediately took it away and replaced with our mains which were brilliant as were the desserts. Wine, drinks and coffee well priced, staff couldn’t be more helpful. When the bill came they had discounted it by £5 due to the starter. Would go there again.
Very delicious food. They were just a bit salty for us. Lovely waitress.
Lovely experience on Saturday night. Food was great, atmosphere in one of the upstairs rooms was excellent. Thanks Chef, made us feel like we were on holiday. White port with custard tart was to die for. Brought back memories of Lisbon!
