I’ve been to Cosy club a few times now and have to say it’s one of my go-to restaurants for lunch / dessert.
The staff are extremely friendly and the atmosphere inside is just great, added that it’s the cutest little restaurant probably in the whole of Exeter.

🍽 The food:
I have to say there breakfast is not the best and would definitely not recommend the avocado on toast, however their main meals and desserts are absolutely delicious. Most recently I tried the roasted chicken breast and halloumi fries, both were absolutely amazing and I crave them on the daily. The Cosy Club’s meals are well priced and honestly one of my go to restaurants for good food. So if you haven’t been yet I definitely would recommend a visit!

When it opened two years ago, The Cosy Club really changed the playing field for chain restaurants in Exeter.  It was a new, quirky and it did some amazing cocktails.  You can read our original review here, its a little old so it is in need of an update. Entering through what had been the chapel entrance of the old hospital, you are presented with one of more unique bar designs in Exeter.  Lofty ceilings with walls adorned with large pictures, the bar area is filled with natural light during the day and fends off any feeling of claustrophobia during the busiest evenings.

Maybe the best cheesecake I have ever eaten! The burger was very good but I would probably try a different main next time. The staff were friendly as well and the interior of the restaurant is pretty cool. Reasonable price for the quality and presentation of the food. My only complaint would be a pint of beer costs over £6 which is quite steep but I suppose that’s becoming the norm these days.

Love the food. Actually, I've had one of the best courses while in Exeter. The club sandwich is amazing. The list of wines is very good. The atmosphere is warm and cosy! What I don't like so much is that every 10 minutes someone comes to our table asking if we are done to take the dishes. This makes me feel rushed. Anyway, this reason is not enough to not give 5 stars. I think it's one of the best places in Exeter.

Charming, lovely, quirky, friendly restaurant. Retro/country house themed with an open kitchen, a cosy lounge bar and separate dinning area. Beautiful food, each dish handcrafted with great attention to detail - a feast for the eyes and a delight for the taste buds! Friendly, helpful staff. Quick service. Reasonable prices. Clean facilities. Located in a quieter part of town with parking nearby.

Mother's Day brunch was nice. I had the classic breakfast - the food was good quality and well cooked but let down by a cold plate. My poached egg had gone completely cold and the mushroom was just tepid, especially as the last plate took a bit longer to come out, so we were politely waiting to eat. Pleasant service.

I was walking around Exeter looking for a place to eat (I don’t live here so I don’t know the area) Luckily I stumbled across the cosy club. The staff accommodated me immediately and offered several options for tables. I ordered the croquettes to start which were delicious. (my only advice here is that the small plates really are very small so you probably want more than one as a starter) I’m I then had the flat iron steak which was cooked perfectly, along with fresh crisp fries and a deep peppercorn sauce. I finished it all off with, probably the best sticky toffee pudding I have ever had. It had a slight spice to it which really worked. I should also mention the unusual decor which creates a very unique dining experience. I will definitely return if I ever find myself back in Exeter.

Really great place to eat. Just a little out of the center but with the small wander from the cathedral

3 of our party had the Dirty Chicken burger and didn't leave a morsel. Amazing flavours and a really good portion. Missed pickles off them though which bugged me a little. Almost as importantly the staff were brilliant. Super friendly and chatty. Decent value for food too and plenty of options so I'd definitely recommend a visit.

We popped in at around 1145 last week and even though lunch was coming up, we were only provided with the breakfast menus. Despite asking if we could view the lunch menu, the waitress was a bit abrupt and told us this wasn't possible. Despite only 3 tables being occupied, service was quite slow and the waitress still wasn't really warming up to anyone. Regardless, thankfully the food was delicious and served piping hot - highly recommend the bubble and squeak potato cakes. We eat here often and the staff are normally super friendly, so perhaps we just caught the lady on an off day.

Only went there for cocktails (the bakewell cocktail is great if you like a sweet one). But the whole place and atmosphere is so nice, lots of eclectic mix-matches and staff was very polite. Will have to come again and try the food.

Excellent service, and just as the name states. Cosy spot tucked away in Exeter. Breakfast was fantastic!

A nice little hideaway in Southernhay just out of the main shopping centre. Very unique design as all Cosy's are... Great ambiance, lovely staff and food for all palettes. Veggie and vegan options were a good selection. 2 down only another 180+ to go.

Went for breakfast Jan-2023, good choice of food, Veg/Vgn friendly offering. Based in a former hospital it's an interesting venue. Called in one evening and thought it was a bit gloomy for my tastes but if you like soft lighting, this could well be the place for you.

My sister and I were staying at the Premier Inn next door and were thrilled to see that there was a Cosy Club so close! We popped in for dinner before going to a concert and it was so lovely. We were served by a friendly waitress (I believe she was called Kay, or maybe Faye?) and she was SO nice. We were made to feel really welcome and the drinks (which she'd made) were beautiful. Great food as always, too. Thanks!

Atmospheric place, being in an old hospital but not overly so. Does get crowded so always book before going. Good food, expect to wait for it at busy times. Helpful staff who are often rushing around, so be nice to them. Service charge added to all bills.

Overall worth a visit. I am sure when less busy it would be 5 stars. Unfortunately went during student graduation week and service was stretched. A lot of waiting in between visits from the staff who were all very good and friendly. We took advantage of the cocktail offer before 8 pm and they were decent and certainly strong enough cocktails. The starters were tasty, but the let down was the main, I had roast chicken in an Nduja sauce and it was swimming in the sauce. Too much and afterwards the waitress saw herself and took it off the bill. The dessert was delicious. The atmosphere of the place is somewhat esoteric, a former X-ray hospital so it has a mix of anatomical pictures and mirrors along with the usual decor plus stags heads. A large space, but well done and laid out. The bar area seems a little underwhelmed. I will go again when less frenetic.
