Went last night for the first time. Loved the cosy decor of the place. The staff were really friendly and the food was fab too. Only criticism would be not enough sauce on the pheasant & was a bit dry & same with the sticky toffee pudding. Not enough sauce. Would definitely recommend here. Looking forward to my next visit.
We’ve eaten here many times over the last year and have never had a bad meal, however last night was by far the BEST meal I’ve ever had at The Sun Inn. Anyone who likes Salmon must try the current dish with shrimp sauce and asparagus. Simply deeeeeelicious!!! � thanks Bryony and team. Steaks for my fellow diners also spot on last night �. This is my local, very pleased to be able to say that, so when ever I have family or friends over this is generally where we end up, usually for a meal. Since the new management team have taken over the food has just got better and better, even though it was very good from day one. They now have a very good choice of real ales from a local brewery, don't drink lager or wine but am reliably informed that the selection of both are first rate. Always welcoming with a bright airy feel to every area, both inside and out. Always welcomed by cheerful friendly staff who always seem to go that extra mile to accommodate you and make you feel so welcome, always smiling and attentive without being pushy. Would always recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed and I feel sure, like me you will keep returning.
We held our little girls christening (for 75 people) at The Sun Inn at the beginning of January, and it was wonderful.
We had so many compliments about the food, which we were able to choose so to make the buffet exactly what we were wanting, this was no problem at all which was brilliant.
The actual pub itself it amazingly done out, the decor is quirky and great.
The staff were helpful from start to finish.
All in all, I would highly recommend for both a meal for a couple or family, and also an event. Thankyou! x
With working in the same industry I am very picky where I eat. This is mine and my partners favourite place to eat never been let down yet. The manageress I think is called bryony has got this place very well run also the chef is going an amazing job the food is fantastic. We will definitely be back �
We came here Saturday afternoon. We hadn't been since the refurbishment and we absolutely loved it. The whole setting is Amazing. Outside area is so nice. I love the VIP area and prosseco truck. So nice sitting and relaxing outside. The inside was also fabulous. The decor was really really lovely (My Daughter loved the sink and taps in the ladies). Our food was delicious. My partner had the fish and chips. He said it was the best fish and chips he'd ever had. I had the Smokey burger. The pulled bbq brisket was just amazing. Chips were also perfect and so so tasty. Portions were generous and the servers were friendly, polite and engaging. All round a 5 star visit. We will definitely be coming back soon.

My daughter and I had the burger, my son in law had the steak and my wife had the fish and chips.
All commented on how good the food was.

Yesterday we went for a birthday lunch and the meal was outstanding. Beautiful food, immaculately presented.
As important was the service. DARREN is consistently one of the best service managers you will experience, alongside SONNY. Their attention and care are wonderful.
When we booked the table, we requested a warm seating area through the online portal due to the birthday lady being ill. They took care to read this, arranged a special table by a warm log fire to keep her comfortable, and made the whole experience lovely. This was lit and ready for her arrival!

Great pub and eatery. It was a good day when we visited so we decided to eat al-fresco. Food was well presented, good portion size, well cooked, and very tasty. Background music added to the ambience. There was a good selection of beers and wines, food and drinks well priced. Very happy to return for more of the same.
Excellent venue had booked a table for four which became 7 we were well cared for excellent service particularly from the shift manager who accommodated our increased party with no issues. Food was excellent and drinks being brought to you even in the bar area. Dare I mention for me and my party the music was way too loud and on a system that can not be lowered it's on or off ..for us when your chatting catching up, off would have been our vote. Those with poor or sensitive hearing it really is not necessary. That a side and hopefully something that will be looked at. The venue was 10+/10. Do visit if your able.
Excellent country pub. We are semi regulars here and have not had a single grumble about anything. The food is great - and big portions - the service is spot on and it’s a really nice place to have a meal. We take our toddler, and the kids food for him is excellent also. We’ll be back, often.
Fabulous food and service. I had the Sunday lunch Sirloin of Beef and my partner had the burger. Both arrived promptly and hot. Great pub, friendly and efficient staff. Will definitely return. Amazing 🤩
I've always had good food, good service, and a good time at the sun inn. Last time was a little disappointing as the pie ordered was so hard it wouldn't cut and the steak inside was black and burnt and when we told them so we were told it was supposed to be like that, which was clearly not the case otherwise we would have been able to eat it. Other than that, the staff are very friendly and on top of things, the decor is beautiful, and we had a great time being serenaded by the singer outside. Would still go again absolutely
I’m so impressed I’m sat writing this in the beer garden! Popped by and dropped in on Father’s Day. The team were really friendly on arrival and were so helpful in finding a seat. The manager went out his way to take my order when the bar was busy. We had 3 meals. Burger, fish and chips and a kids meal. Great quality and very reasonably priced. First time ever been and I’m annoyed as I’m only 15 mins away! Will be back for sure. The outside area was spacious too with a nice kids area and the music was nice and chilled for a Sunday afternoon! Top marks.

Has a wonderful birthday dinner for 10 of us. Sat outside for drinks then in the restaurant for our table. Great service and really great fresh food. One of our party had the steak and ale pie, homemade, looked amazing and it beat them!
Still not a fan of the keg urinals but they are a bit quirky if you like that sort of thing.
Called in Wednesday night for tea lovely setting round the back of the pub with doors open on to a courtyard.
My wife ordered steak pie and I ordered a mixed grill which came exactly as I ordered fantastic service from the staff we enjoyed so much our daughter went 2 days later for lunch and had a fantastic meal as well.
Visited with our puppy dog. It was her first time in a pub.
Great attentive staff. Definitely dog friendly, dog water bowels and treats on the bar, I think there might have been dog beds in entrance hall, but I didn’t need one so didn’t check.
Food was nice, gluten free options available. Portion, just right. I’ll be back and I don’t like eating out at all.
Great pub between Bawtry and Gainsborough. Great atmosphere, lovely friendly staff, clean and food was amazing, a decent price and portion. Menu has plenty on offer. Will definitely visit again
