As always, fantastic meal. Possibly best cod I've ever eaten... Get a real kick from knowing that when I went to bed the night before, he was swimming around with his mates - by the following evening he's on my plate making my mouth water... Starters excellent, mains excellent, staff excellent, venue excellent. Kudos to Gary and his team - always take the time to give you a personal experience and make me feel special. They had sold out of brown crab starters, so after a dash to the kitchen, does us a fantastic white crab salad, not on the menu, which paved the way for the delicious mains. Once again, reaffirms my feeling that this really is my favourite place to eat... 10/10 yet again... Thanks for a lovely evening guys �

Only spoilt by a large group of very unpleasant people who thought it was ok to eat & drink their way through £££’s of food & drink and then leave without paying their bill on the grounds that there were dogs in the (dog friendly) pub!
Strange how it didn’t bother them before they ordered & ate the food!

We visited the golden pot today on their fun day. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was reasonably priced, prompt(ideal when u have three young children to entertain!!!) and more importantly tasted delicious. And the homemade marshmallows and fudge were just to die for!!!!! Will definitely return!! !!
A really lovely and delicious Sunday Lunch yesterday (Roast Pork to die for!) and the perfect way to celebrate my Mother in Law's 75th Birthday (& hubby's birthday). The team were great at keeping the cake a surprise (& rustling up some candles as I forgot to bring them!) as well as really looking after us. We used to be regulars but for a variety of reasons not being as frequent as we used to be, but working on rectifying that now! Thank you everyone for a perfect Sunday afternoon of good food and great atmosphere

The food never disappoints and the fish is the freshest we've tasted anywhere. A good menu selection means there is something for everyone and the prices are reasonable. We will definitely continue to use this place for our lunch time treat.

Went for Lunch today and was made to feel very welcome. The food was lovely especially your Goats Cheese and beetroot salad as a starter... it was so nice I bought the chef a drink thank him

Fish and chips in pub is always a lottery, this time I became a millionaire, it was superb. Cooked to perfection, the fish (haddock) was fresh very tasty and it flaked like for fish should, the triple cooked chips were a great match. Add to this Guinness zero for the most delightful meal. The pub had an "ambience" the landlord was extremely friendly and welcoming, the locals were nice too. I will be back!
Probably the best value food I've had in the area. 3 of us ate for Father's Day, managed to get in with relatively short notice. Lamb roast was excellent. Steve, Jackie and staff very friendly and welcoming. Many thanks!
I spent the afternoon at my niece's baby shower, absolutely wonderful staff, food was absolutely delicious 😋, definitely will be coming back even though I live in Newbury. Many thanks to the wonderful staff who were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Sunday roast. The pub was nearly empty . Good size portions with plenty of meat. Not the best I've had but perfectly acceptable, especially after a long walk.

The staff were lovely and welcoming. The food was beautifully cooked and reasonably priced and the building was very warm and cosey like a traditional English pub. Definitely recommend whether as a couple or a family, this place caters for all
Absolutely fantastic dinner service is nice and polite couldn't do enough for you. 10/10 I'm a big eater and for the fast time struggled to finish my fish n chips which was proper thick perfectly cooked, also the first time I went I had the sword fish steak can't recommend enough
Great local pub and restraunt, menu has a good selection of fish, and quick eats. Great atmosphere and the pub is dog friendly. We realy enjoyed the meal after a long day of driving, and before the final 4 hour drive back to Lincolnshire.
Came here for Sunday lunch with a group of friends after a local walk. The staff were very friendly and keen to look after us. Large portions of roast beef and pork with a good selection of veg, including a dish of superb cauliflower cheese to share!
