Excellent food and service. I arrived on my own during a work trip with no Pre arranged booking. They had lots of room so managed to get a table on both occasions.
Staff were very friendly and food was beautiful. Lovely location for summer months!
A bit out of the way place but its reputation outways that and I didn't score it down..a little jem in the middle of now where! Staff were very friendly and attentive when we arrived...they have numerous rooms that are able to cater for parties of larger numbers or rooms for couples..looking at the room we were in I can imagine it being cosy in the winter with fire crackling in the background ( we went in September) I ordered chicken and brandy pate and my boyfriend ordered salt and pepper chicken wings both came in a short time and were delicious..I had a good size piece of pate which complimented the red onion marmalade and sour dough bread beautifully..I cant answer for the salt and pepper wings as I didnt try them but he did enjoy them and polished off his dish! Even though the place started to fill up with bookings where we were sat was great as we could still hear each other talk over other people's conversations..there was a room on the other end of the place with lots of tables for parties of 4 so i don't know what it would have been like noise wise! I had ordered osso buco for a main course which was beef shin with a saffron risotto and lemon and garlic and parsley dressing..I'd never tried it before and I'm glad I did! The beef shin was massive and I've got a good appetite but I struggled to finish it! It was melt in your mouth delicious and everything with it on the plate blended together perfectly. My boyfriend ordered haddock in beer batter and that too was huge over spilling the plate next to the beautifully cooked chips on the side accompanied by mushy peas. He polished the plate with a struggle which is unusual for him! And said he'd definitely have that again. Because our bellies were full we had to pass on the great choice of desserts but when we come again ( and we definitely will) we'll try the desserts. Overall I give it five stars for a beautiful place with excellent food and attentive staff and price on the menu that reflects that.
Fantastic location, matched with a Beautiful roast what more do you need on a Sunday afternoon.
Another great experience, this time Saturday late afternoon.. fantastic food matched by impeccable service, Chicken and Leek pie with butter mash, along with seafood Thai red curry
Outstanding all round. Few years since we have been to the Boat, the meal last night and today was stunning. Love the lite bight menu too. Service spectacular, hard workers, but enjoy their work. Well done to The Boat. Will be back very soon.
Not quite sure how to describe the "Boat",other than perfect!!.
The setting on the banks of the river Dee is stunning either from the three terraces or from the windows of the pub. The pub itself is a beautiful mix of both very old character full small rooms (17th century) to a contemporary area around the bar. We are not local, but, have visited several times recently and have been made very welcome by a lovely mix of both experienced and young very capable and friendly staff.
The food should also be mentioned. Each time we have eaten the food and service is superb. Last Saturday my wife had "Haddock" and chips, it was devine!. I've eaten fresh haddock in Grimsby, this was as good.
We will be returning very soon.
Had a really nice meal. There were 6 of us and we ordered a variety of dishes. Pictured are the chicken supreme main and the 🐃 mozzarella starter.
The only downside that spoilt our evening were the rude table of 4 seated near us who should be ashamed of the fuss they made. It's people like these who can ruin a businesses reputation. They complained that the food wasn't up to standard and received some things off their bill. I found them to be rude and downright arrogant, so much so that my partner and I left the table and went outside until they were ready to leave.
We ordered some of the same dishes and had absolutely no reason to complain. Thank you for a lovely evening x
We went for a quiet lunch in a beautiful restaurant and that's exactly what we got. Amazing menu and staff who knew instinctively when to come and go. The location is superb especially on a fine day, and you should take a walk along the River Dee - Wat's Dyke Path - and watch the fly fishermen after your meal.
Fantastic gastro pub in idyllic setting on the banks of the River Dee. Excellent food, great stall.
We came for lunch, and decided to sit beside the river - as there's a lovely patio/terrace overlooking, and it's at the end of a lane so lovely and peaceful as there is no through traffic. The food is some of the best I've had in the area - and they have some options that can be reduced in size for a children's portion which the little one really enjoyed. We will definitely be coming back!
Beautiful food in a quiet hidden location. Overlooking the river. What a gem. Will definitely visit again
