Had a fabulous pub lunch here today. Can't believe the place wasn't full to the brim! Friendly staff, great food. Recommended.

Small little local pub & friendly welcoming staff. There is a large outdoor seating area which is lovely in the evenings. They have a few tv’s where they show sports inside the pub
The cool atmosphere and the view from the back garden are amazing. Last but not least, the waitress is drop-dead gorgeous for a change, I was beginning to question the hiring process of pubs in England.
Nice pub,one of a few remaining in Epping,friendly staff nice selection of drinks if you're a football fan 3 different areas with screens im glad its survived The cull i remember when there were at least 9 pubs in Epping i think its now 3
Lovely old pub , good service and cosy in the winter and plenty of outside space well cared for . Really nice staff !

Been meeting my pal here for a number of years, He lives in Epping, very friendly pub, nice staff, usual pub prices, ALLEN The publican often pops out for a chat, can't fault it,

Slight bias here as it's my local!
Regardless, They still serve the best pint of Guinness I've ever had outside of Ireland.
If you're hungry the food is decent and reasonably priced.

Very old pub small garden at the back and carpark

The Black Lion is a lovely pub on Epping High Street and has a car park at the rear with ample parking for customers of the pub.
There are two bars one is a little smaller than the other
The smaller bar has a tv that shows sport on it.
I cannot comment on the food as we only had a couple of drinks. We both had Guiness which well poured and a lovely drink.
The staff were friendly and professional.
Plenty of places to sit wth small tables and high tables in the small bar and lots of tables in the larger bar.
As i said i cannot comment on the food but from what I saw it was typical of a High Street pub and was reasonably priced .
The pub itself was well kept and very clean
Also the toilets were well kept and clean which i think is a sign of a public house that is well looked after by the owners.
I will return to The Black Lion maybe for a lunchtime pint and something to eat from their menu.

I visited early evening on a Thursday and the pub was busy but not crowded so it was comfortable and friendly .
Nice pub on the high street, good little beer garden in two sections. Lovely place to drop in for an afternoon pint. Well-managed in these Covid times. Friendly locals and regulars. Recommended.

My 3 friends visited this small pub on a Saturday evening for an hour and it was very quiet of people but we didn't mind as the manager lady was very friendly and she made us some tasty cocktails !x
What a nice little pub in Epping High Street. Had a pleasant pint of Guinness there this afternoon. Built in 1539 it is really something special.
