We got this place recommended to us and what a delight it was nice selection of all food and reasonable prices, nice outside area and the staff were friendly and very informative of local events would recommend this place to anyone
I had my 50th birthday party here. It was held in the garden and we had a BBQ for around 60 people. The food was really nice along with fresh salad and coleslaw. The staff coped very well they were helpful and organised.
I and my guests had a wonderful time, I would highly recommend this lovely pub.
This pub is so old and traditional, old beams and loads of brass hanging from them.
We wanted to visit an old country pub, and we definitely found one here.
We went for Sunday lunch. The pub was heaving so we knew we had made a good choice.
The lunch was lovely , and so much of it, all home cooked even the Yorkshire pudding, we loved it. The desert was very generous I even left some of my chocolate fudge cake.
All in all we had a lovely afternoon at this pretty country pub.
Excellent Pub. Lovely décor. Warm and welcoming staff and food is wonderful. Great outside playground for the kids too. I definitely give this place the thumbs up:)
Gorgeous, characterful country pub with a fabulous landlord, friendly staff, great service and delicious food. There is a very pretty garden and a lovely play area for children, so very family friendly. In the colder months the woodburner adds a cosy glow to the charming interior and you are always assured of a warm welcome from the landlord and his staff. Fabulousl!
Friendly staff great service (not hanging about like most busy pubs) great food & a good selection of drinks reasonably priced, what more do you want on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Will definitely be back keep up the good work.
Good food helpful staff and the very best of music. Mike Happninboy and friends certainly know how to get the place rockin'. Particularly enjoyed SLAP and GEORGE.
Have been here a few times and decided to hold a 50th Wedding Anniversary get together with Family & Friends here last Saturday. There were 20 of us and the service, attention and the way they accommodated us was first class. I think everyone of us commented on how good the food and the atmosphere was. Will definitely visit again and would recommend to anyone.
Has been one of my fave pubs for around 20 years, often there with my wife until she passed away 4 1/2 years ago, and was laid to rest in a beautiful woodland site less than 1 1/2 miles away as the crow flies. Last night was my first visit for a few months and with Ian at the helm it has just got better!
Held my daughters baby shower here on Saturday. We opted for afternoon tea which had a wonderful selection of cakes, along with sandwiches and scones. The staff were really friendly too! Can't wait to pop back for a drink!
Good unpretentious food, cooked and seasoned well. It was lovely to turn up late after calling ahead and get a really warm welcome from the young women at the bar. They are a credit to the owners. The table next to us were pretty rowdy and that, combined with the music from the kitchen made it difficult to hear our conversation BUT the way the pub looks, covered in brasses, pans and all sorts of old English objects, together with the general atmosphere made it a genuinely happy visit. Would definitely recommend and we'll be back on the way to Norfolk from London.
We went for a late lunch in Saturday 07th October. Very busy due to the sun being out but easy enough to get an outside table. We ordered Fish & Chips and Pork Belly. Both meals were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed them. A great venue serving very good food - well worth the visit
Very pleasant, well presented pub. Menu isn’t very varied but the food served was very tasty. Staff were friendly. Slightly on the pricy side, but prices have gone up everywhere so it’s not dramatically so. Nice for a treat.
Amazing place! It’s 500 years old and the atmosphere is stunning. Food was great and portions were enormous. Staff are friendly and did everything possible to help and make us feel special. Sure it will be one of my favourite restaurants in the future.
Cant fault this quality proper pub. Food and service were great. Good selection of real ales on, though it would of been nice to see a local beer on (small thing). Fantastic to have a kids play area on hand to plus a nice outdoor space.
Love this amazing village pub - food always top notch and the playground is superb. Staff always so friendly and welcoming - even my kids love going there. I dread going for dinner with my kids but at The Theydon Oak I enjoy it! Would highly recommend to anyone.
Amazing place great atmosphere, they have new menu. I had the lamb rump, Hannah had the liver. Amazing. Lamb was was a whole new level. Back every Friday, from now on. Thank you 😊
Friendly village pub that we came to primarily because they were showing the football. Good ales, great kids play area and nice menu. They did a kids scampi for our daughter which she loved. Fish pie was good with fresh veg and 2 king prawns. Homemade sticky toffee pudding too! A good find.
Nice pub, Sunday lunch is great size but unfortunately some of the food was like warm and beef slightly overcooked for my taste. Saying that would try again as it was authentic cooked food rather than preprepared.
Went to the beer festival, but as the allocated driver I had one beer before going on to soft drinks. But my husband injoy the beers. They were very nice. The outdoor barbecue was good. The young lady running around picking up glass where on the ball. But overall a very nice pub. We will be popping back soon.
4 of us and the dog for an evening meal for my wife's birthday. Very friendly place and sat in the bar to eat. Slightly reduced menu due to chef problems but still enjoyed the food we had. Would definitely go again.
Just called for a cool drink fabulous pub with love staff and great atmosphere
A gorgeous village pub, with fabulous food and service! The Pie & Chips was a nod back to the good old days, very hearty meal.. thanks guys, look forward to our next visit!!
I love this place. Decent food, decent beers, friendly staff who care about what they’re doing. Always a good stop for a forest walk.
Lovely pub with a very pretty garden and a separate children’s play area. Food was good but a bit bland. Service was excellent and friendly.
Absolutely impressed by the place. Staff friendly helpful and cherry.
The food was delicious with very generous proportions.
The place was very very busy when we visited and soon discovered why..
Recommend you try it yourselves
I really like this pub , always good service delivered with a smile. Foods good too
