Great little place where the food is reasonably priced , service was personable, food all tasted home made and really good portion sizes. We went on a whim and without a booking but they managed to be able to squeeze us in. It had its own little quirks with lots of African inspired decorations, the food was real comfort food but with a suitable amount of finesse. It's not fine dining but absolutely perfect if you're after what pub food used to be: homemade, delicious and value for money. Monkfish scampi and the burgers were amazing. We'll definitely look to come back even if we're not staying close by.

We really love this place for a few reasons. Firstly the food is excellent, not your normal pub food at all, which is such a welcome change. Everything we have ever ordered here has been so tasty, and so well presented. Secondly as its quirky inside, lots to look at. The place is dog friendly too, always a bonus in an area like this. The while place is spotlessly clean and the service is top notch. Highly recommended 👌

Picked this place after checking out TripAdvisor ratings and wasn't disappointed. Lovely small pub with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Food looked and tasted amazing. I had lamb cutlets with Greek skinny chips and feta. Kids had burgers, and hubby had chicken in a bun, all looked great. Can't comment on dessert as didn't have room for one sadly. Would definitely eat here again when in the area.

Great food. Reasonable price and excellent service. What more could you ask for. It's on the bus route between Cockermouth and Keswick. X4 X5. Gets busy so make sure you book.

Amazing meal. Visited on a Friday lunchtime having prebooked. We were party of 4 and had a fabulous meal. I had the curry which they adapted for gluten free with gluten free naan. The other in my group had burgers and the cod special. For dessert we had the doughnuts and Eton mess. Would highly recommend. Fabulous meal.

Came for a meal this evening and it was amazing. The venison and stout hot pot was perfect. The meat was extremely tender and the portions were more than generous! The atmosphere was nice and quiet and the staff were very friendly yet professional. Would recommend to anyone!

Highly recommended! We booked a table for food here whilst staying in the area and we were over the moon with our visit. Service was efficient and friendly. Still running at a reduced menu but this didn't pose any problems as the mixture of selection is pretty varied from small plates which we had for a starter to burgers, curry & a specials board. The food was incredible - full of flavour, not long to wait and great value for money. Would certainly recommend this place and would definitely return when we are back in the area

Stopped here on our way back to Penrith after a day trip to Mary Port…..what a find! The menu was not large which is a plus in my opinion, it also had a specials board with some nice sounding items. We have 3 fussy eaters in our family all of which found something they liked. The food was the best we have had in a restaurant for a long time! I would highly recommend stopping by on your way past or even planning a visit it is that good!

We turned up without a booking tonight after a bad experience elsewhere. We were welcomed and afforded personal service, an excellent menu and made to feel valued customers. Well done and thank you Janet and Mike
