Went for Lunch last Sunday. Fish was cooked to perfection. Always a good selection of ales available. Staff are friendly and approachable. One member of staff had no issues helping an elderly gent with his food. Very accomodating.

Went for a meal with a friend. The food we had was lovely. It has a great location - its a short walk through an alley to a free carpark. Fabulous service, we didn't feel at all rushed and the lady was really helpful and friendly. The pub had a good atmosphere. The toilets weren't the best but it would've got 5 stars if they were.

Only visited for a drink and a rest but the ale was very well kept and although quiet in town on the day, the pub and eating area had a nice buzz . Bay windows at the front allow for people watching and the long narrow room goes a way back for the dining ares which looks tidy and in keeping with the pub's long history. Recommend a visit especially in the daytime when we were there.

Let's start with the staff who are absolutely amazing, polite and efficient. The place itself is lovely but the elephant in the corner is the standard of the food. We had a table for 6 at 7.30 ish. The first choice of Sea bass was accepted then we were told it was all gone. The second choice was linguine but turned out more like Heinze Spaghetti, the other choices were passable, not brilliant, but passable. We complained about the 3 pasta courses and they were knocked off the bill,no messing,no quibble, but we all came out for a nice meal not the compromises. Finally and as everybody mentions,is the prices. Basically we had bread and olives,3 acceptable mains ,3 desserts,1 cheese and biscuits and Alcohol and bearing in mind 3 mains were knocked off the bill it was still in excess of £330. I know it was busy,I know it was a bank holiday, but we are not local and traveled to have a nice time. Unfortunately we didn't.

Great friendly pub. Has a small beer terrace out the back for sunny days. Often packed out with no spare tables on Saturday nights, so prefer to go on Fridays.

Don't let the outer appearance of this hotel deceive you; this is no High St pub for darts and dominoes, inside it's a bright, modern, small hotel with a fabulous public restaurant and bar. Walk through the doors and you're in a modern, clean and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and after a quick check in we were escorted to our room. What a delight. Large, clean and modern with a fabulous, big ensuite bathroom, fridge and loads of storage space and room to move around. The room was quiet despite being over a main street. We booked our evening meal in the restaurant, this did not disappoint. It was well presented, well cooked and tasted delicious. Two courses with wine for two people was £70. Great value for money. An extensive choice for breakfast prior to checkout completed a very satisfactory stay. Parking at the rear of the hotel was available but is a public car park. Check with staff for details of this, it's mostly free but do check.

They look after their beers at the Standard. They're all good! Particularly the Neck Oil and West Coast IPA. The food is also great! Super friendly staff as well.

After being massively let down by another pub in Ely on Sunday we called on the off chance of sitting 8 of us. There was no wait for a table, the menu offered everything we needed for kids, gf and vegetarian diets. Staff were friendly and attentive! The roasts and rest of the menu here are really good offering a lot of variety. The bar and restaurant are appealing, clean, tidy and a warm environment. Really thankful that there was room for our emergency roast!
