Very pretty, very good traditional cask ale pub within easy walking distance from Ely Cathedral or Oliver Cromwell's house. Eight cask ales are available on tap, plus some kegged options. While the inside is comfy and spacious, it's really the expansive beer garden to the back that makes the pub special (apart from the very good cask selection, of course). Very good seating in pleasant weather, and the weather WAS pleasant at the time of my visit in August. Service was a bit spotty, but that didn't detract from the overall good experience. A pub you'll visit for both the beer and the setting!
What an absolute treat this was! The Prince Albert ticks all the boxes for what you'd expect for a nice traditional English pub. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to experience a good ol' fashioned British pub, with a wide selection of beers & great quality British food.
I'd never eaten here before, but I'm so glad I did. Having lived abroad for the last 3 years - I was really craving a good quality Fish n' Chips and I got exactly that. Honestly, one of the nicest I've had since I can remember. A delicious golden crispy coating, delicate, juicy and flaky fish . Not too greasy at all and served with a nice mushy pea puree. Oh and the chips! Proper homemade hand-cut chips (chunky, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside) simply delish!
The bar staff were extremely friendly, helpful, polite and observative - exactly what you want went dining out. Really great pub with a nice atmosphere, highly recommended!
Even though we arrived an hour late for our booking due to train delays our party didn't feel rushed at all.
Food was good but the main appeal was the beautiful garden seating area. Nice to see it's dog friendly too!
I've returned to The Prince Albert over five times now, mainly because of the quality of the food served here. I have never left feeling disappointed. It's a lovely little gem of a pub and I'd recommend it fully to anyone looking for a casual place to eat/drink in Ely.
A great night for our large group. Food was amazing. was pricey but it was also very good. Attentive staff and handled our questions well and were able to accommodate us. Would recommend.
We stopped into The Prince Albert after a friend recommended it. They were able to fit us in without a reservation.
The food itself was lovely and the staff seem friendly and accommodating.
The venue itself is massive, we were seated towards the front but the garden has a nice garden I imagine would be brilliant in the summer.
Friendly pub, with a welcoming cliental as well. Good range of beers from all over great the UK including Scotland. I tried a mild beer which I have not drunk for years. It was a revelation. Despite not eating there, we were served some bar snacks including some excellent roast tatties. Fabulous.
Just to be open about this review, I had better say, that this is a traditional pub with a Sunday raffle and what could be better, I won a prize. Needless to say, this does not influence my review.
Lovely pub with a small inside bar but a huge restaurant area and beer garden out the back. Didn’t get a chance to try the food but the pizzas and fish and chips we saw on other tables looked great and we will definitely go back to try.
Lovely place for a Sunday roast, the food is absolutely delicious and the service is top notch. I had the pork loin (pictured) and it came with a delicious bit of crackling and some apple sauce on the side. Large selection of ales and lagers on tap. For reference it is relatively quiet around 12-1pm and gets busier from around 1:30pm on Sundays!
Was here yesterday evening. Walked into the pub expecting just a 'boozer' to be honest, was happily surprised at the restaurant out through the back.
The food was amazing (my sea bass was immense) and the staff extremely good.
Highly recommend this place. 👍🏻
We had a small wedding lunch in the conservatory at the back. It was Monday afternoon so had it to ourselves. Felt like a private function room, the food was lovely and the staff looked after us very well.
Thank you for making our day extra special .
Booked a table for three early on in the week and so glad we did!
Brought over to a lovely table in a covered outdoor area with heat lamps and excellent spacing between diners, didn't once feel jittery about being too close to others.
Service was excellent, and the food... omg the food. Three bites in and I genuinely welled up with tears of happiness it was so delicious, every single component was perfect. I think I may have scared the waitress by gushing over it.
Dessert was also ridiculously good. Everything was polished off. They serve tea with very cute little milk bottles alongside. Did I mention how good the food was?
This is the 4 th time of eating here and all I can say is wow wow wow it just keep getting better!! Food was on point last night couldn’t fault a single thing!! And the staff where exceptional too well done each and everyone of you you never let us down!! Amazing 😍😍😍
I was mega impressed with the Prince Albert it’s traditional pub done really well. Great beer options. Decent wine. Great well presented pub grub and nice people. Gold star in my book
Enjoyed a delicious lunch in this pub located in a quiet street a short distance from the Cathedral. The menu has plenty of interesting choices, not just pub grub. Fiery West African meat pie a winner! Very friendly service.
Absolutely fantastic meal ,great staff

Highly recommend! The staff were very accommodating to our group occupying two tables for the entire afternoon on a busy Sunday as we were passing through town and meeting up with old friends.
Absolutely delightful pub, such a mix of old school pub with modern family feeling. Landlord great and helpful. Made my my little boy a gluten free fresh pizza base - incredible wood fired pizzas at good money. Just a lovely place to be and spend your afternoon away from the centre of Ely. Great beers, great wine, great soft drinks literally can’t fault it. Thoroughly recommend.
One of the best pubs in Ely with a secret garden as well as a fine selection of real ales and cider. The food is good quality as well. Service friendly a proper local pub in a city.
They have a new garden Room now with a pizza oven too. This room will be amazing in the summer opening out onto a huge patio.
