Handy coffee shop/cafe in the Center of Elterwater. Great selection of cakes - lemon drizzle particularly good. Eclectic background music selection (possibly a little too loud for the rockier stuff)
I have passed Slates on many occassion. But finally paid them a visit (just opened when i arrived in Elterwater after a walk along from Skelwith bridge passing Skelwith force along the way)...
Anyhoo.. Slates is an absolute tremendous place if you fancy some quality food & their Beans on Sourdough w
Went in by chance and glad we did.
Very busy which is a sign of quality food.
After browsing the menu both of us opted for wild mushrooms on sourdough toast.we asked if we could have a poached duck egg.no problem.
When our food arrived it did not disappoint.the mushrooms were poached in a rich cream
Lovely walk today for Mother’s Day. Called in for a drink and a bite to eat just before closing time, however the staff were very obliging and made the three of us a bowl of chips and gave us sausage rolls which I can honestly say were the best we have ever tasted!!😋will most definitely be back. Lovely food after a great walk in the Langdale Valley. Lovely staff, especially the lady who served us- was really helpful and had such a lovely personality. Will recommend and return.
We had the pizza here and it was fantastic , the drinks were good too , strawberry and banoffe milkshake , well worth a stop
Lovely cafe in a great location. Friendly staff but rather expensive.Paid over £15 for 2 decaf coffees, one scone with butter and jam and one scone with just butter. Despite the cost the coffee was excellent and piping hot and the scones were delicious. Will visit again in the future.
We ordered Nacho's and a Pizza. Both arrived quickly and really hot, both excellent and good value for money.
Great place to stop after a walk around Elter Water. You can eat in or take away and there is a wide range of vegetarian and gluten free options on the menu that won't break the bank.
The food was just incredible, the home made toasted tea cake and sausage rolls were just amazing. Only been to one coffee shop with as good homemade food in Clifton, Bristol.
I think you should maybe offer a couple of different coffee types as people's taste vary and wasn't my favourite kind of co
Lovely place with friendly people. I recommend the spectacular Full Cumbrian breakfast.
Quick stop for refreshments.
Nice cool zero alcohol beer and ice-cream
Incredible! The food was so perfectly done. The menu is modern and there is plenty of choice for everyone. Vegans and vegetarians included.
The staff are really warm and so is the interior.
Oh, the coffee is great too!
Maybe my favourite cafe in the Lakes.
We're regulars at Langdale, so it was interesting to see the old Elterwater post office is now a cafe.
We went in after a smaller hike and were very happy. I had a loverly buttermilk chicken burger and my partner had a chicken pesto sandwhich. My burger was fantastic and we both thought the chips
Brilliant! Really good food (awesome pizza) and a great selection. Dog friendly. Toddler friendly (high chair and child options.) friendly staff who did all they could do help. We had a lovely lunch. Comfy sofas too!
Really lovely stop when hiking. They have the best sausage rolls I have ever had in my life. Friendly staff and we could bring the dog which is great.
We had a really, really good breakfast before our trip home. My veggie breakfast was cooked superbly and the halloumi was very tasty.
Stopped here for a tasty lunch, while out for a walk while we were staying at the Langdale hotel.
The staff were lovely, food came promptly and was an excellent feed after a morning of walking over the hills.
We had some lovely local beers too, and were then persuaded to have coffee and cake 🍰
