Popped in as passing and looked inviting. Staff were wonderful, so approachable and friendly. Sat outside and such a wonderful atmosphere, dogs welcome and lovely to see ducks and geese walking around. Spotlessly clean, the skin on fries were recommended and lived up to their recommendation as did the garlic ciabatta with cheese....delicious. Will definitely go back x
We visited Ellesmere for a bank holiday weekend and The Boat House was recommended by the Air BnB we were staying in. After passing it on a walk I tried booking a table online. Be aware it is not open in the evenings! Fortunately I checked this after not receiving a confirmation and we booked a late afternoon table for another day. The building is a lovely authentic looking boat house with plenty of outdoor seating looking out onto the mere. We were outside as we brought our dog with us- this is a dog friendly restaurant. The staff even brought a water bowl to our table for us. We found the staff to be very friendly and attentive. As we had starters, mains and desserts we got a good sample of what the menu could offer. All of them were served in a decent time (even though it was very busy). I had pate to start, my wife had the fish cake. We both had a roast dinner for main. I finished with a chocolate brownie and my wife had a scone. All were of good quality and decent portion sizes and priced appropriately. I would highly recommend booking if you are in the area and if the weather is good you may want to spend a few hours here to enjoy the food, atmosphere and scenery.
A very friendly atmosphere I went with my partner and his mum and dad and Thierry little dog we were instantly welcomed by everyone. The food was lovely and well presented. Now all the staff were friendly but our waitress was fantastic nothing to much for her to do
Pop in here from a recommendation for breakfast. Great setting great views of the lake. Menu had some excellent choices and was very varied. Breakfast was good however a little bland on taste the atmosphere and location made up for it. Service a little hit and miss some waiting staff full of smiles others very grumpy and felt like was a choir for them to be there. Seen a few locals making conversation so got the impression was a clicky type of place. On the whole was just about good enough for me to try again but mot enough for me to rush back
A great place to eat and past some time away
The food was excellent whether you wanted breakfast, a full meal or afternoon tea
The staff are very friendly and hardworking and the decor is lovely even the toilets are done to a high standard
It was busy midweek so I would advise booking at weekend's
Amazing staff and customer service. Warm, welcoming and friendly. Food was amazing and great price.
Excellent food for brunch/breakfast we stopped in on a long cycle ride for some brunch and coffee. Great attentive staff, good choice for veggies as well the veggie sausage and egg bap was delicious! Plus the coffee was excellent going to be returning again definitely!
Attentive, friendly (and cheeky) welcome. Coffee is the best for miles and the fish and chips were fantastic. Well done team. Hope to visit again very soon 👏
Popped in here on a quiet Tue on our way home from a drive around Shrops. The Ellesmere Lake waterfront unfortunately looks a little uncared for and sad compared to past visits. That said it was a slightly overcast autumnal day.
Once inside however The Boathouse has kept it's quaint and quirky charm. I noticed and was particularly taken by what looked like recently updated stylish designer tables and chairs.
We only had a warm drink an a piece of homemade cake each but they were all delicious. The young lady who served us was very polite, friendly and attentive. The bill was surprisingly lower than expected given the rising cost of living as seen on the high street.
All-in-all it was a welcome stop-off on our way back to Cheshire. We left refreshed and rested having had a nice sweet treat and a warming drink.
Had lunch yesterday with my friend and her baby. I honestly can’t rate this enough! The staff are very friendly, service excellent, menu choice excellent, food excellent. It was lovely to see they are very child and dog friendly. I would highly recommend a visit. Also a great location on the water. If there was six stars I would give that
We were a large party and had booked well in advance. We had selected our choices in advance. We had a lovely welcome and had a lovely table overlooking the Mere. The food was served on time, was well presented and was very good. Just one note , at the moment there is a problem with the toilets and only portaloos were available. But I understand this is temporary. Overall an excellent lunch which completed our celebrations well.
This is a lovely pub. We went at lunch time and there was a good range of light meals and sandwiches available. The brie, bacon and cranberry sandwich was delightful. The brisket bun was nice but would have benefitted from coleslaw, cheese or similar in the bun in addition to the meat. Coffee was excellent. Staff were very friendly and keen to help. Toilets are great and baby change facilities are good. Family friendly. Great location next to the mere.
I walked in here alone after a long walk.
The staff didn’t know how tired I was but they made me feel like they new.
The guy behind the bar was very polite and attentive as was the blonde lady think her name was Alison,
She couldn’t do enough for you I felt she had her eyes everywhere as it was very busy but I didn’t feel excluded for being on my own.
Really enjoyable and relaxing couple of hrs.
Would recommend this place to pretty much everyone I know if they were wanting a good place to go.
Thank you staff..
All place should be like this ..
Thank you…,
The staff were really pleasant and attentive. They were exceptionally kind and understanding when our daughter became very distressed by the numerous wasps outside. The food was great too and the setting is wonderful. Thank you, we will definitely come back when we return to the area.
We visited this restaurant twice in one day, we were so impressed with the menu. First visit for breakfast after a cycle ride from nearby Colemere campsite.
Second visit for evening meal.
The menu is quite extensive with something for everyone. I can recommend the fish chowder. Sat on the side of Ellesmere (mere) a beautiful setting with seating indoors, out on a veranda or further seating lakeside. Very tastefully decorated and clean. Service here was excellent.
Nice cafe overlooking the lake. Full of quirky pictures and objects. Pleasant place to sit and relax
