We celebrated a 16 birthday at the Red Lion with a meal this evening, the food was beautifully cooked excellent produce and extremely tasty.
I had the loaded potato skins for starter and were the best I've ever eaten, they were crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside with grilled cheese and pineapple on top.
Main coarse was Woodland chicken with chunky fries, the chicken was very tasty and moist with grilled mushrooms and cheese on top. Excellent.
The staff very friendly and helpfull and a great atmosphere.
Most enjoyable. Highly recommended.
Just had a weekend here food amazing
Lovely staff. And huge room . Highly recommend
Just had an early evening meal for 7. Kids well catered for and mains were fab. I always complain that people will not serve a proper medium-rare steak; we had exactly that. Brilliant service and good beer. Very pleased.
After a walk round the Mere we stopped by this lovely traditional pub with great food and beers on draft. Definitely worth a visit :-)
Visited for Sunday lunch, 8 in party. Food excellent. Lamb roast was to die for. Looks good now it has been refurbished and decorated. Highly recommended.
The food is excellent an the staff are wonderfull, and very professional. Well worth a visit
Called in for Sunday lunch we had not booked but was able to get a table straight away. Clean and pleasant surroundings. Polite staff and good choice of food which was excellent; we will certainly go there again
Food was amazing, hot and plentiful. Sunday Roast was delicious! Staff were really friendly and very attentive. Love that the pub is dog friendly and welcoming.
I'd go back here in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.
Booked for lunch with friends as we was staying in the local area. Food was absolutely gorgeous and so glad we booked. Food is cooked fresh and specials are worth a look. High recommend the Surf and Double Turf!! Position size means you will walk away stuffed.
Really liked the room, the bed was comfortable, the bedding was soft and warm. Nice fluffy towels. Would recommend bringing your own toiletries though. The food from the main menu was really nice but the kids menu was disappointing and the children hardly ate anything. We did plan on pudding but waited so long we got bored and left before then. In the morning the full English breakfast looks like something that is thoughtfully prepared but things like the pancakes where shop bought which was a shame. The cereal choice was bland and basic. There's a games room in there which the children liked with lots of different things to occupy different tastes. The staff where friendly.
Wonderful traditional pub near the mere, food liked and tasted great. Plenty of choice with vegetarians well catered for. Dog friendly.
A great place to visit. Lovely atmosphere, basic room, with tea, coffee biscuits, and room service from bar once order placed. We enjoyed it, and plan to return. Thanks guys. 😊 really appreciate phone call letting us know you found dog necklace, not received yet, but will inform once arrived.
Sausages and mash dinner was really very good, excellent sausages with chunky onions and carrots and plenty of gravy. Also, dogs are welcomed inside, given a bowl of water and you can order food for them from their own menu, brought in a dog bowl.
Stopped here on the way to Oswestry and so glad we did. Food was absolutely incredible, best steak and ale pie I've ever had. Portions were really generous, amazing home cooked food. We will definitely be back again
5 adults, four children and a baby went for mother's 80th. We had a long table by the bar which was not ideal. We were offered a table in the pool room but the TV was showing football and one small child would have wanted to play with the pool table so we stayed where we were. The music was a little loud for our preferences but not unbearable.
Food was lovely, big portions and served in a timely manner. Staff were busy but friendly. We will go back.
Great place to eat drink and stay at. Staff very friendly and hard working. Food is excellent as with the atmosphere and decor. Rooms very spacious and very clean. Lots of good local walks in the area plus shops if needed.
I’ve stayed here a number of times now whilst working in the area, the staff are super friendly and the breakfast is always great. I’ve had dinner here too on one occasion and that was also fantastic pub food and great value for money.
Good choice of beers and well kept with a really nice local pub atmosphere.
I’ve stayed in both a “shared bathroom” room and an en-suite room, both have been cosy with all you need and at about £40 & £55/night respectively including breakfast, great value for money. I’m back working over there in November so I’ll be booking again.
