Amazing pub 15 minutes from the tunnel , lovely welcome as we were so late and even our host cooked for us even though the kitchen was shut , fabulous G&T to go with it ! Would recommend a stop here to anyone after a little piece of true English history . Fantastic comfy beds stunning rooms great breakfast . Be back again for sure - and they love dogs too .

Highly recommended. The managers made us feel so welcome and the breakfast was amazing! Will definitely be returning, can’t wait to try the lunch/evening menu!
Lovely place. Stopped over night on way to the tunnel. Will definitely be coming again.
just nailed it christmas day thankyou xxxx
Recently stayed at the Abbot Fireside and they made a lot of effort to be personal and present - it was my birthday and they really went to town with the special touches. The staff and bartenders who worked there were great fun and good company. A fun pub!
Thank you Peter and Kim for your hospitality.

My mother-in-law has just moved into the village, and we wanted to find the most welcoming local. We first went to the much-praised King's Arms, which was overcrowded and overpriced. By contrast, the Abbot's Fireside was authentic and full of character. The landlord, Pete, was everything that you could wish in a host - he even arranged for us to be served food outside normal serving hours. Thank you so much.
This place is a hidden gem. I absolutely adore the Abbots Fireside and the hospitality of Pete and Kim are second to none and I was made to feel so welcome being a single traveller. My room was absolutely adorable and a step back in time in history which fits in with the building. This is not an expensive place to stay, and I will be going back.
Absolutely charming. The interest is absolutely in the house which is 100% genuine. Tiny doors, room floor not flat at all. Charming !! Of course the walls are paper thin, and you are aware of everything when in the room.. you need to be tired to sleep well 🤣
We took mother and father in law here for a meal for her birthday a couple of weeks ago. I'd rung and booked a table but needn't have bothered as there was plenty of room. My husband and I both had a starter, I had the prawn cocktail and my husband had the chicken strips, for main 3 of us had a roast and husband had the pie, for desert my mother in law had some ice cream and my husband had a hot sponge of some kind I can't remember. All the food was delicious and piping hot. We had a bottle of wine and some beers between us and the bill came to around £120. Was very yummy.
The pub is very old and is decorated accordingly and the service was fab. I didn't use the facilities whilst we were there.
Popped in for a cup of coffee. What a wonderful pub!!! Staff were so so lovely and really attentive. The pub itself is gorgeous and I would really recommend popping in. Fantastic experience overall and will definitely be re visiting
Me and the friend are staying for a wedding. Popped in. And have already and to come back for lunch. Wonderful food. Amazing service.
Sunday lunch very good. 14.95 pp. Beef pork or chicken, vegetables & yorkshire pud.
Excellent accomodation, very clean and welcoming. Very old world atmosphere. The staff are amazing, going above and beyond to give a great customer experience.
Food brilliant, varied menu and served piping hot and plentiful.
