My wife and I stopped off here for breakfast as a little treat after seeing the 12 week scan of our baby. Shop is very small but it was cute and creative with a minimalistic vibe. It’s shared seating so which I quite liked, so don’t be surprised to be sitting next to a stranger. It’s an open kitchen which is always great and they use as much local produce as possible. The lady that served us (Kate) was pleasant. The selection of food items isn’t vast which is my preference because you get a sense of quality over quantity. They also have seasonal options. I also get the impression that the menu is always adapting but keeps its favourites. They have a good drinks selection. We both got hot chocolates which were brilliant. In fact one of the best I’ve ever had. For food I opted for the granola which was lovely. We shared the sausage roll which came with a curried chutney. The pastry was flaky and the filling was tasty. The added chutney was delicious! I am usually not a fan of coffee but Kate recommended the coffee and walnut cake so I got it. I am glad I did because it was amazing! The cake had perfect texture and tasted amazing. Not too overpowering with coffee, just right. Finally, my wife got a cookie which was delicious. Overall, we throughly enjoyed our time at Kate’s. Great location, couldn’t fault it, even the toilet I liked. We’ll 100% be back. P.S. Since the shop is very small and quite popular there may not be available seating but they do takeaway so all good. There is also limited seating outside.

So glad I found this wee gem of a place. Been there a couple of times, and I can testify that both the savoury and sweet items are absolutely delicious. Love the wild garlic + cheese scone, the fennel + pork sausage roll, the homemade drinks, the rhubarb muffins… They have lovely seasonal items too! The interior is both cozy and welcoming. Love the selection of books provided at each table. Kate and her staff/colleagues are really friendly. Definitely give Kate’s a visit if you’re in the area!

Very cute little shop and the bakes are very pretty. Granola and yoghurt was very nice and the cheese scone was quite good. Blueberry muffin could have done with more blueberries and the coffee was fine, but overall a very decent spot!

I love this place. They have an incredible apple crumble muffin and an Autumn spice latte that I love. One of the best places for coffee. The atmosphere is very cozy as well.

Cozy café with delicious homemade baked goods, lovely pottery and wood furniture. Nice flower arrangements and relaxing background music, not intrusive. Recommend the plain but delicious scones and dark chocolate oaty cookies. Veggie and non-veggie options available. Only limited indoor seating, but it is possibile to enjoy a coffee sitting on the bench outside.

Lovely little cafe - staff are very friendly and welcoming and it’s the best coffee I’ve tasted in Edinburgh (been through them all). They’re cakes/pastries are delightful, I wished I could have tried them all. The dine in area is communal but cosy and the interior aesthetic of the joint is boujie but inviting.

I’ve been tracking the opening of Kate’s and wanting to visit for some time. Finally managed to get a chance to visit! Just unreal! Cosy and snug when you walk in. Lovely atmosphere. The food / cakes / fresh baked treats were just unreal! Staff were so friendly and warm PLUS the coffee was awesome! Served at the right temperature and not nuclear hot. Dog friendly too which was even better! Next time I’m taking my dog and enjoying a few more coffee’s and slices of cake! A must visit place! The pheasant sausage rolls are out of this world! The Christmas cake was awesome! If you don’t visit this place then you’re missing out!

Such a beautiful cafe, with delicious cakes, scones and other treats and fantastic coffee. A family affair as well, not to mention being supremely dog friendly. Exactly what Causewayside has needed for a long time.
