Great place, recommended for families. Drinks were lovely, food beautiful. One staff member was very miserable and commented on a dog nearby that shouldn’t be in the pub beer garden. The dog was no bother. The way she spoke to the people wasn’t the best, she was also very miserable when serving. Apart from that everything was great!

This was my hang out as an Edinburgh student. Used to be the rock and goth pub.... Definitely not that now! Food is great, beer selection is ok but not spectacular. Easily the best beer garden in the city, and they have a huge screen to show sporting events, or whatever the Hoi polloi need to watch.

This is a great place to watch sport if the weather is good; large beer garden at the front of the entrance to the pub with a giant TV and nice atmosphere when busy, as it usually is when the weather is good. The beer on offer is decent, with plenty of non-alcoholic drinks available too. The fish and chips is superb. One of the best I’ve had in Edinburgh. The rest of the items on the menu is what you would expect from a pub. Personally didn’t think anything looked as good as the fish and chips but may be wrong here. If you fancy a ‘chippy’ while basking in the sun and watching sport then this is the place for you. Even if sport and sun isn’t your thing, I’d say it’s worth it just for the fish and chips.

Went here for the free fringe. Went and seen the fantastic five Northern Irish comedians. Great venue and a good selection of beers behind the bar. Tourist prices but can't complain as there was plenty seating and massive outside telly for sport.

Drank here to watch England beat Australia in the world cup semi-final. Too few staff behind the bar making the queue massive, often out of the door. This just meant we drank less as it put you off joining the end and having to wait so long to get served. But the venue was awesome. Huge screen. Excellent atmosphere.

A really enjoyable evening at the Pear Tree catching up with old friends. The staff were excellent, and there is a nice mix of different age groups and people from all walks of life. As a bonus, they sell gluten free beer by the pint, which is brilliant news for many!

My favourite Edinburgh beer garden. Staff are plentiful, efficient, and friendly. Didn't have food this time but it's always been excellent in the past.

Was a bit too busy when we went, took a while to get served. Lively atmosphere. Drink choice wasn't to our taste, mainly lagers and cocktails but if that's your flavour then plenty of choice! Food was good portions, hot and tasty.

I love the Pear Tree and I’ve been coming here since my parents brought me as a baby 😊 it has a beautiful courtyard with ancient pear trees of course and a large outdoor screen to show the football and they also host live music gigs. My brothers band were lucky enough to get a gig during the Edinburgh festival before the Covid pandemic. Lovely inside too and they have a great selection of local and international beers and ciders as well as a great selection of spirits and alcopop type drinks. The food menu looks good although I haven’t eaten here.

Amazing place, quick service, friendly staff, amazing entertainment options. Was there during Fringe, but they have performances regularly all year round. Rooms for shows are small and cramped but that's part of the experience and fun.

A lovely pub that was recommended by a friend. We were a family of 4 including a 15 year old and 7 year old and we wanted somewhere for a bite to eat and drinks, watch some football and play some competative Uno. The Pear Tree was ideal, the food was great and generous portions, the drinks reasonable and Daisy was well impressed with the homemade J20's (Passion Fruit Juice and Orange Juice!). The only small drawback was one member of staff who was very rude to a family that were sat near to us outside, and then also very rude to my Wife when ordering food, shrugging her shoulders and refusing to answer a query - hahaha! Suppose we can all have bad days though, or even worse end up in a job we hate!!

Look no further than The Pear Tree for your beer garden and big screen sports viewing. With a massive sun soaked beer garden and an huge outdoor TV screen, it's a cracking place to enjoy a beer a match of some description.

Nice venue, plenty of outdoor seating which is socially distanced. Big screen was excellent for showing sports and can be seen from almost anywhere in the beer garden. Order via app and table service is efficient. Only downside is it can get cold in the beer garden, and potentially wet if it rains as there is limited cover. Indoor seating is available. Would recommend booking. Drinks reasonably priced, would return.

Was in the city with a friend and of course as covid restrictions have lifted and the festival is now on it was pretty busy everywhere. We walked around a little and then decided to stop in here and it was petty good overall! A lovely big beer garden with a good amount of seating meant we could sit outside and enjoy the nice weather/ feel a bit safer in the fresh air. You can order from your table using a pretty simple app and everything is brought out to you! We eventually ordered some food too and it was brought out all boxed up which made it easy to eat and clean up after. The food was really hot and nice enough for a pub meal! The prices weren't too expensive either for what we had- the food and drink were both decently priced. Overall a good place for a drink & dinner in a nice, safe setting! The only thing that could have made it better is maybe a few more staff members being around outside as if you needed to get anything or ask for extras you had to go into the building to the bar a lot (for extra cutlery, sauces, napkins etc) and the wait time was slightly long so if you are heading to a fringe show or anything after, order as soon as you sit down to give you extra time.
