Visited the place for a beef Wellington experience for 2. Had very high expectations and was very happy that food, service, and atmosphere met all the expectations. We got our table almost straight away. Were sitted at a cozy table and food and drinks arrived in no time. As for the food, tartar and haggis bonbons were delightful , definitely my favourite bits. Wellington was good too, just didn't go crazy about it, a matter of personal taste. Dessert was perfect, just what was needed after a filling dinner.

My wife and I visited this excellent restaurant early on a Monday evening. We had booked online and chosen the set menu, the far cheaper but more limited of the two menus (this menu ends at 6.30pm). Upon arrival, we were whisked upstairs by a smart looking man and placed at a lovely window table. Seren was our server, she was friendly and attentive but not overly so. For starter, I had the temari spiced chicken wings and wow, they were amazing. The best chicken wings I've ever had! My wife had the cider and onion soup, I got a wee taste and it was really good, she very much enjoyed it. For main, we both chose the Bread Street Burger. It was an excellent burger and the fries were out of this world. We both had a lovely time, the setting is good the staff are excellent and the food was fantastic. A note on dress code; it said smart casual but there were a lot of people there in casual casual clothes. Highly recommended.

Cocktails were great, the appetizers were small and not exciting. The main dish, Gordon's beef Wellington, unfortunately came without the iconic prosciutto and been replaced with a crape, I think it should be mentioned in the menu as this dish is so iconic, the mash poteto was grainy and not very tasty. The staff was great and informative and even provided a dessert plate for the inconvenience

To be fair it wasn’t as easy as I expected to eat really well in Edinburgh but this is one of the places I found more than ok. Great decoration, open kitchen, nice crew and food at the height of the place. I’d repeat when I come back to Edinburgh - Recommended!

We went for the "signature dish" of Gordon Ramsay - Beef Wellington. The food was over the top - unbelievably delicious! Allow a minimum of 45 minutes from order untill serving, in the meantime either get some starters or some drinks. Front of house was flexible regarding seating; making sure that we had everything we needed. I would visit again, if I should return to Edinburgh. Personal recomendation on choise of beverage: Paolozzi Lager goes incredibly well with the food. Paolozzi Lager may sound italian or something; but is actually locally made from THE EDINBURGH BEER FACTORY.

Great experience 6/5 server was great and really friendly, but he food lived up to expectations and would definitely go again, the cherry on top was when they brought out a congratulations dessert for free as I had just finished exams. Definitely the best experience ever and will be going back. P.S it’s not all that expensive either it’s £24 for three courses of some of the tastiest food you will eat

We were given a buyagift voucher to use here. I went online to validate the voucher, then had to contact the Bread Street Kitchen to confirm our booking. They then contacted me by txt prior to our visit to make sure we were still coming. We were warmly greeted at the door and after handing over the printed copy of our voucher, were taken to a table at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen. A server came over and asked if we would like some water ( it turns out that this was bottled water at £5.50 a bottle) and do we want to order other drinks. I had a pint of Aspall cider (£6.50, which I though was reasonable) my wife had a raspberry Mojito (£12.50, unfortunately this had to be sent back to the bar as the raspberry that came with the drink had blue mould on it!) However, once pointed out, the servers immediately apologised and replaced it with another. The voucher menu was a limited menu, seasonal 3 courses at £24 each person, with a choice of 3 items in each course. My wife asked if she could change one of the items in the starter to haggis balls ( we were charged an extra £8.50 for the change, which was strange as the other three options on the limited menu were the same price). The food that came to our table was really delicious and quite a plateful. Our starters were nice, the haggis balls and my soup, our fish and chips for our mains, we couldn't complain about, and our sticky toffee puddings were really sweet but could of done with being a little warmer. The restaurant area is very nice, the tables being far enough apart not to feel cramped and the decor pleasing on the eye. There is another dining area up the spiral staircase, which has nice views of the park across the street. The toilets (upstairs) were clean and tidy. The servers were polite, prompt and well presented. The whole meal including drinks came to £91.13, this is with a service charge of 12.5% added to the bill, but with our voucher of £48 this was reduced to £43.13. A very nice experience, we would certainly visit here again in the future and I would have given five stars but for the mouldy raspberry.

I was visiting Edinburgh during the Fringe festival and went to the GR restaurant with 2 friends. The food was fantastic but even more so was the excellent service from both Mercedes and Erin. Mercedes, in particular, was very friendly and we had a ball! Couldn't thank her enough for her excellent service.

Great restaurant just opposite St Andrews Square, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Food is superb, presentation was excellent and our main course was exceptional. Service was second to none, thanks to our server Alice for making us feel very welcome. Will be back. 😁

This was the highlight of my vacation! The food was amazing. I got the tropical fruit sundae for dessert. It was so good that I wanted to lick the bowl after I was done.
