The tasting menu was fabulous! My fiancé had such an amazing time…honestly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. The gentleman helping us, I think Andreas, was on top of everything and made the experience even better! Russ was also great and both made wonderful wine recommendations. Honestly, one of my favorite dinners in all the countries I’ve been!

It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was really tasty and beautifully concocted, and the wines complemented it very well. Our waiter was attentive and fun, and the whole meal created warm memories that we'll enjoy for a very long time.

A great way to experience this restaurant without spending too much is to have the lobster lunch. Exceptionally tasty food, served by knowledgeable staff in great surroundings. Lovely views across Edinburgh, spacious restaurant, and such interesting flavours. No choice but I trust the experts. Extras were well recommended but with no expectation that they would be ordered. We did, and we’re not disappointed.

A wonderful tasting menu and easy to say 5 stars. The menu did not seem to be choregraphed to bring out the chef's culinary style though. It was more like showcasing every good ingredient from land and sea. Every dish was competing to one another, still it was an interesting approach.

Food was lovely and there was a great variation to the dishes. The beef dish was excellently done and was a favourite on the table. Service really was outstanding and the attention to detail was what you would expect from a restaurant in a five star hotel. We didn’t have the matching wines but the glasses of the South African White Wine we had were delicious.

Was a bit weary given all the ‘hype’ around Chef Dean appearing on Masterchef.. is it REALLY that good?? Went in for dinner on a Fri night 730pm.. walked out 1030pm with a full stomach, happy heart and pleasant surprise 7 courses did not disappoint.. service was on the money. Vibes were gentle and chill Not the easiest to describe all the dishes.. but if you’re on the fence.. do it. They’ve got 3 different tasting menus.. regular (for people who eat everything), pescatarian (this is what I did), vegan (woah!) Team were flexible with me substituting out something from the pescatarian menu with something from the vegan menu Nearly all the servers came by the table to introduce themselves at some point.. and bring a dish or service the table.. outstanding service and team

Wow!!!!! I am 57 years old and have eaten at Michelin starred restaurants around the world, but I have never enjoyed a tasting menu and wine pairing as much as I did at Dean Bank's. The vegan menu is a triumph of texture and flavour and the presentation is nothing less than grand art! I was lucky enough to try the first ever serving of beetroot with a tomato reduction. I actually had a moment of perfection where all anxiety slipped away leaving my entire being focused only on the moment, the flavour, the texture and nothing else. Beautiful. Our server, Kate, brought us each dish with an aristocratic poise, with an almost balletic control in the presentation of each plate. She did an amazing job in describing the nuance of each course. The restaurant's sommelier, Jack, created a perfect pairing of wines for each course, the interplay of the wine and the food was both complex and delightful. Jack enthusiastically presented his wine choices, moving charismatically between the tables engaging with diners. All in all it was a delightful evening and I can't wait to go back.

We were in a group of friends celebrating my husband’s birthday, and was an amazing experience from the entrance up to the end. My husband is a vegetarian and had a veggie/vegan menu, I had some food restrictions and they gave the flexibility of mixing the veggie and regular menu, fitting your taste. Food was high quality, some very surprising mixture of flavours, memorable. The staff was professional and friendly made us feel like we were at home, extremely attentive to any queries and offered great suggestions of beverages and wine. Definitely a place to come back.

Grandeur experience in the splendid surroundings of 'The Caley'. Dean Banks and the team are producing fresh, lively and favourable dishes throughout the tasting menu. Appears to showcase the best of Scottish ingredients with occasional twists. Staff excellent throughout. Friendly, youthful and hopefully learning. Perhaps slight concern over pricing. Maybe related to the hotel? It'll be interesting to watch to see if the restaurant can match the levels of the existing fine dining options of Edinburgh. So far the signs are good.

We booked Dean Banks at the Pompadour based on online reviews and his reputation. The food was absolutely delicious, complimented by the paired wines. What set this restaurant apart from other fine dining experiences we have had in Edinburgh was the outstanding service from the restaurant manager Andrea, supported by Cameron. You should expect outstanding service at a restaurant such as The Pompadour, but Andrea’s warmth, knowledge and instinct to be available when you needed him for advice on the menu set this restaurant apart.

Faultless, attentitive and friendly service by Andreas, Cameron and a lady whose name we didn't catch. The food was very enjoyable, as was the atmosphere. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion!

Having visited the Pompadour before it closed I was so excited to return and try it out with new ownership. It turned out to be just as, if not more amazing!! The food is incredible and lots of little tiwsts during the menu, they also cater to gluten free very well. I would highly recommend getting the lobster course its a must. We also had the paired wines which were great not only because they were perfectly paired but because the sommelier Gwen was incredible, so knowledgeable about all the wine and so friendly. She went above and beyond to make our experience great. All the staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly!! I would highly recommend visiting here

We were made to feel most welcome the minute we stepped into The Pompadour. I had made an error with the booking time, however restaurant manager Andrea smoothed everything out and took away any stress I was feeling due to this. We had a table with an incredible view which was an added bonus. The food was absolute wonderful, bursting with flavour, each course a delight. Andrea is a real asset to this place, warm, friendly and completely professional, and we would not hesitate to return.

Food was fantastic. We had the Chef's tasting menu paired with wine and it won't be long until its gets the first star as it was top notch. My only slight criticism was there was no option to change out the main course for anything else. Both of us prefer not to eat sheep and there was no alternative but even that course was beautfully cooked.

5/5. Excellent food, excellent service. All the food was gorgeously presented and backed up by tasting as good as it looked. Topped off with a few bits of flair (dry ice haar with the oysters was impressive). The signature smoked lobster is the best lobster I have ever tasted and I would thoroughly recommend. We had the wine pairing and our amazing sommelier Gwen was knowledgeable and very attentive, she's a real credit to the restaurant! Definitely an experience to remember!
