I was brought here by 2 local people to try the traditional Haggis and I was amazed by how gentle the waitresses were and also how great the Scottish breakfast is! Highly recommended!

Excellent coffee, amazing scones and lovely staff! I preferred here to some of the larger places around and also as an independant cafe, friendly and high-quality produce used... Still the best coffee in Edinburgh for me and a choice of home-made scones (to a family recipe), including traditional, cheese and blueberry. I went for the traditional with jam and cream... Oh my - DE-Li-Cious. I was so impressed with this lovely cafe last year, that I returned twice whilst in Edinburgh for the Fringe and on the 2nd time, I left behind something that had great sentimental value (some would have thought - what is this rubbish and thrown it away) and was totally irreplaceable. I contacted them via facebook to ask if they had found the item - they had. I had by now left Edinburgh. They offered to send it to me by post and sure enough a couple of days later it arrived with a beautiful card and message. In a day and age where too many people just seem to go through the motions in the work place, do not seem bothered about the customers, I could not thank the people at Canongate Coffee Company enough for caring so much about the customer, keeping the item and knowing it may mean something to someone. For them to send the item and also a card - I was quite emotional. So if you are in Edinburgh, give this lovely wee café a try - A few locals popped in - always a good sign!

I live around the corner but just found this wonderful gem. The chap who is at the helm (whenever I have been in) is wonderful with excellent customer service. Its small and I couldn't get a seat today...a day I believe it is meant to be closed which just goes to show how popular it is! I still ordered one of their to die for scones, homemade scone, cream, jam, real strawberries - today I scoffed it in the street managing to dribble jam, cream and dust icing sugar all over myself and pregnant belly! I have no shame and enjoyed every mouthful. Another customer at the counter commented that she too was delighted the cafe had opened this dull Monday as she was conducting some sort of love affair with their sandwiches (intriguing response I thought). Its also dog friendly as I noticed from a previous visit with gluten and vegan options too (sorry but whatever, gimme the cream scones everyday thanks). My advice - go. Just go!

Popped in for lunch yesterday and had a wonderful experience. Though it doesn't look like much from the street, we had the most delicious food. The hummus and falafel sandwich and the scone were possibly the best we've had. Not dry and perfectly balanced. Coffee was fab too! Highly recommend for a place to relax after you've walked up Arthur's Seat.

I visited this charming cafe whilst visiting Edinburgh at the weekend. I chose the goats cheese and roasted vegetable ciabatta from the fantastic menu and it was delicious, all cooked fresh, on site with ingredients from locaI suppliers. I didn't have time to sit in but next time i intend to, such a welcoming, cosy ambience, perfect when looking for a spot for lunch and a warm up after exploring the city on a cold winter's day. I rounded it off with a granola bar, quite honestly the best i've ever eaten! The cakes look to die for too, another must for next time.

This friendly cafe is one of Edinburgh's best-kept secrets. Excellent coffee, scrumptious cheese scones and melt--in-the-mouth cakes. No grounds for complaint about the Canongate Coffee Company -- only praise

So good to stumble across a local cafe in this area. Great soup and scones and all freshly made. Given we are on one of the busiest, if not THE busiest street in the capital, this is so reasonable, fresh, friendly and tasty. Brilliant!

Wee gem of a coffee shop on Royal Mile. Was lured in on a rainy afternoon by the scent of freshly baked scones to find a plethora of delicious looking cakes on display. I opted for the scones & my colleague was delighted to discover that there were vegan toasted panini style rolls with falafel !!! All washed down with two freshly made speciality coffees!!! Hit the spot & very reasonably priced. Defo be back in again next time we are in Burg! Thanks !

Highly recommended Excellent coffee. Good menu and what we had was top quality. Very reasonably priced especially given the fact we were on The Royal Mile.

Lovely wee cafe in the hub of the city centre with reasonable prices and friendly staff. I had a beautiful focaccia (locally produced) toasted with goats cheese, peppers and salad. Definitely recommend.
