A very nice place and very friendly staff. I had the lamb burger 10£ with a drink 9£ (very nice) and the lemon sorbet custard 5£ with a a latte2.5£ Overall very nice food and certainly filling. Overall bill 26.5£ which for a pub lunch type / burger I thgt was expensive. However as just exploring Scotland will get an ideas of how things are. Visit if in the way

Lovely little place, quirky and nicely decorated inside for the festive season! Ordered the crab and chorizo Mac and cheese with chips - it was a little too much for me (portion wise). The chips were fantastic, the Mac and cheese was nice, could have been more chorizo in it though! Good selection of drinks and friendly, informative staff! Partner had the brutalist burger and chicken wings - insanely tasty!

This new place has a beautiful decoration, super nice staff, and their music taste is similar to my own, so I enjoyed the music a lot. But the most important part of the business is food and drink and it was amazing. We will be back soon!

Booked a table for a date night. The place is tidy and very beautifully decorated. The staff is friendly and very responsive. And the food.. The food is absolutely fantastic . The size of the dishes is abundant and the taste (Oh, the taste!) is even better! Would definitely recommend a meal there, if you find yourself in the area!

Nice modern place. Service could be better, wobbly table didn't add to to my good mood. Food was not bad but egg Benedict was a little bit overcooked.

Pleasant bar / restaurant, though very quiet for a Friday lunchtime. Had the full breakfast which was good, hot and freshly cooked.

You ever get the feeling when you walk in a place that its just right? That's Basil's. Superb food, friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere. I'd highly recommend a visit. If you're staying at the Premier Inn at Leith too, the short walk is well worth it

Basils is a restaurant and bar the newest edition to Newhaven and a most welcomed one too. It packs a punch in an up and coming area of Edinburgh. Its driven with a spectacular cocktail menu, they also provide breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great beers, wine and spirits are available also. So whatever your after throughout the whole week you can be sure Basils will deliver. The cocktails and food will change with the seasons so there's always a reason to return. The service is friendly and professional with a causal edge so your always made to feel welcome. Great facilities mean you can spend the whole afternoon there without any upset. The restaurant has been designed in the brutalist architectural style of Sir Basil Spence a renowned architect famous for rebuilding Coventry Cathedral after the war. His work can be found all over Edinburgh from the University Library, Moreton Crematorium to humble housing and flats. Basils style is a mix of concrete, exposed metal and a splash of sixties retro fit to brighten it up. A must visit for all locals, residents of Edinburgh and anyone who finds themselves in the area, tourists and holiday makers alike. You can't miss the neon lights that brighten up Annfield. The old boozer that was once The Annfield has been brought into the 21st century and has been greeted with an incredible reception. It certainly has made a mark already and you just have to go!

Veggie breakfast, without eggs (my choice). Delicious. It's a lovely place and a bonus to Annfield. Really reasonably priced. Very cheery staff. What more could you ask?
