Great wee market nicely hidden from big crowds Fantastic venison burgers and crab on fries! Washed down with great pink pepper gin cocktail and pitt beer. Well worth a visit!

Great place that is super central to pop for lunch. You must try Spice Boy - only place to get a Cubano in Edinburgh! Also loved me some sweet potatoes fries from Shrimp Wreck to go with! 🐷
Seriously amazing food, tempura shrimp from ShrimpWreck can't be recommended highly enough. Toasted Cuban sandwich was pretty spectacular too. Get yourselves down here!
Had a fish taco from Shrimpwreck, delicious, washed down with a fab I.P.A. Great atmosphere, highly recommend a visit
Great place, great food and the best people!
We came over from London for the weekend and stumbled over this market by accident on our last day, and all I can say is it added the cherry on top of an already perfect weekend. From mulled wine, amazing food, live music, and the people running the stalls - the overall vibe was just so so good. We hope this market will still be there next year when we are moving there.
Lovely wee market just off the Royal Mile. Different stalls every weekend and amazing street food every day!
Nice vibe and great streetfood. Definitely worth going for a visit
Best place for local artist pictures or paintings in Scotland!
Great selection of food and entertainment.
It's like a little bazaar in the middle of the city.. Great vibes, delicious food and cool tunes.. Definitely Worth checking out if you're in Edinburgh!
Great food, good vibes, definitely recommend The Cubano 🇨🇺 from SPICE BOY! 🌶🌶🌶
Loved it away from the madness & the Canadian Poutine was amazing
An exceptional lunch in a down-to-earth bistro.
Don't let the lack of an Instagram-friendly angle fool you, the food at Educated Flea is exceptional. Start with the pistachio and feta dip with corn bread and the haddock souffle, both great appetisers for what's to come. Then there is only one choice - the Big Cow. 600g of beef cooked to perfection with greens, fries, two sauces and mustard. Edinburgh is full of alternative meat-led venues, but you'll struggle to find as wallet-friendly an option at this one and at this standard. Just brilliant.
The dessert menu is expected but excellent. Rocky road served in the style of an ice cream sundae. Affogato. And scoops of ice cream that include 'unicorn' and the life-changing salted heather honey
The Educated Flea is unlikely to feature on a reel of the hottest Edinburgh restaurants you just HAVE TO try. That's unfair, as it is the quiet workhorse of bistro excellence that more than deserves your time, appetite and money.
Small, cozy and unassuming restaurant with absolutely stellar food. Very friendly staff and great service. A selection of good wines and a wonderfully diverse menu with fish, meat and vegetarian options, great starters and desserts, as well as interesting sides. Based on the reviews we expected this to be good, but found the Educated Flea exceeded our expectations. Book in advance. Highly recommended!
I would recommend the Educated Flea. All of the appetizers where superb. Sweetcorn coconut soup (Yes), Artisian Sourdough bread with dips (Yes), Pistachio & Feta dip wCorn Chips (Yes). The main dish for both of us was the Salmon with Risotto and overall it was good but just seemed to be missing something with the Risotto portion. Flavor or something? I give them a solid 4 because the atmosphere is great and I can tell they care about their menu, customers and food. Once again I would recommend this place to anyone.
It was delicious and all meals are nearly all glutenfree. I can highly recommend this restaurant.
Thank you thank you thank you. I am celiac and for us celiacs it is soo much appreciated. No crosscontamination what so ever.
Being a vegan amongst meat eaters wasn't a problem! Great vegan options available. Kids menu is good too! Bit small for people in wheelchairs. I use a stick , so it was navigable. Good range of wines and cocktails!
Staff really friendly and capable.
Fantastic food; best I've had on my Scotland trip so far. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the drinks were lovely. The staff was friendly, my family felt welcome, and we enjoyed everything we ordered. We were so glad we ventured a bit outside the busy tourist center and took the short walk here.
Fantastic restaurant with top quality food. Absolutely ideal if you have any dietary requirements as all food is gluten free and so easy to also make diary free. Staff are so friendly and help make the place feel relaxed but intimate.
Receives from us a well deserved five star rating for the quality of the served food, and the hospitality of the staff. The fish and chicken were boosting from the spices and used flavors.
The restaurant is very tiny, so advance booking is recommended to avoid disapointments.
Thank you for this lovery evening. The menu changes every 3 months.
Excellent lunch today. Food lovely. Service outstanding. One of our party of 5 with a serious food allergy. Not a problem. Several menu items changed to accommodate. Vegetarian/vegan options superb. Very enjoyable.
A down to earth place that strives to stimulate your pallet with some bold and unusual flavours. If you haven't tasted their pig ears yet, definitely do on your next visit. Overall, we had a good, enjoyable experience with few minor issues: deserts were a bit underwhelming and we appeared to get the same basic sauce with every dish. I would say that service needs to be more attentive too (we finished our bottle wine after starters but nobody came to ask if we wanted to order more so we didn't). Despite these shortcomings, I felt inspired by some of the dishes and definitely got good value for money, so will be coming back in future to see what the chef will come up with next.
