Popped in here to order a little bit of takeaway on a rainy Friday night. Contrary to the other reviews, I actually found the service to be quite friendly. Though when I asked what the difference really is between the large dish and the small dish, I was just told the large dish is bigger than the small dish. The food itself was not bad, it didn't exactly blow me away. I went for the small chicken chow mein (no veg because I am weird like that), which is actually is quite big, so who knows what the large is like! The chicken was a little on the dry side but the noodles were pretty good.
This is a basic Chinese take away but the food is really good and reasonably priced. What I like is that you can order a small or a large dish, this isn't often a choice at other restaurants. Their prawn crackers are a bit rubbish though which is a bit of a let down.
When you have to avoid certain ingredients there are styles of food you become bored of and others that you crave. Indian food is easily gluten-free, Chinese food less so. When I find somewhere that makes any effort to accommodate I'm hooked.There are some who say a Chinese restaurant isn't right without some serious attitude from the staff, and you'll definitely get that here; I've often come away feeling like a criminal. However, the food is better than average for its type and more importantly, much of the menu is either marked as GF or as suitable for being made that way. And I miss a good black bean sauce so much that I can take a lot of dirty looks to get some I can eat.
This was our first time trying this place and I’ve got to say it was absolutely amazing, the food was so fresh and tasty my family thoroughly enjoyed it too.please try this place people you won’t be disappointed, we will definitely be back. Thank you hot king fu.
Late night order, a side of chips (medium, but it's very big) and a chicken mushroom soup. Service is super fast, food is tasty and fair prices. I recommend 100%!

One of the tastiest Chinese takeaways I've had in Scotland! We got a vegetable sweet and sour, chicken satay and the starter selection box. Delicious!

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. The menu was full of interesting and unique dishes. The prices were reasonable and overall, I had a great experience at Hot Kung Fu. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a tasty and affordable Chinese meal in Edinburgh.
I use this takeaway regularly and am never disappointed. Sometimes the dishes are a little different to what I'm expecting but they're always tasty. Regular portions are more than enough so I would recommend opting for medium rather than large size!
Decent take away. Ticks all the right boxes for flavour, variety and price.
Med portion is a good size for one person but you can choose a large if you want to share.

good spring rolls, love them! chicken chowmein is only ok. chilli oil has no heat, just tastes like oil.
the lady at the counter comes off a bit rude but the chef at the back was nice! worth it for the spring rolls!

Best dim sum platter I’ve had in Edinburgh: moist without being greasy or losing their crunch. Main-course dishes are pretty standard but it’s so worth it for the dim sum - trust me!
