Authentic Chinese food! My husband and I went there after a whole day Highland tour. We tried 椒麻鲈鱼锅(spicy seabass)and 干煸四季豆( spicy fried beans) and a soup. My husband is from Hunan China and he said the dishes were cooked just the way they should be. Good service. Highly Recommend for those who love spicy Chinese food!

Went with a Chinese friend and he said the food was typical northern Chinese cuisine like he had when he grew up in China

Overall, I think Hongfu has solid claims on being one of the best restaurants of its type in Edinburgh.

Was in Edinburgh for 4 days and ate here twice, both i ordered the chicken and duck rice with soy sauce with their corn soup which was really tasty and perfect for the winter time as Edinburgh can be pretty cold

Best place I’ve ever been! Food is excellent, portion sizes are big. Great variety of dishes. Service is also good, we had a charming lady advising us. Prices aren’t high at all for the centre of the city. Would go to this place every day if I could.

I think this resaurant worth a higher rank. Food is delicious and staff are friendly. But sometimes they only accept cash or wechat pay.

I decided on this restaurant because of the lack of places, in the area. And it turned out to be a good choice. The decor is pleasant. The staff tried to meet our order, as we asked for a change in cooking. Large portions. For an average of £11.00. Typically Chinese food. Very fresh. Prepared, after ordering. Nothing reheated. But, not very spicy. It is worth , sometimes to get lost and look for food , not only in the popular places, on the main street. Very nice service. I should add that I came to this restaurant to eat, with a large family. Family very demanding and picky when it comes to food. And this restaurant met these requirements. I recommend and recommend. Soups. Excellent.

I've had so much bad Asian food in Edinburgh. If you watch the Searching for General Tso documentary, they theorize chop suey was popular in the US because it had familiar elements along with "exotic" vegetables like beansprouts and that were relatively neutral in taste. This allows people to experience Asian exoticism without having to taste anything too foreign. That seems to be the state of Asian food in Edinburgh. I ordered the Taiwanese beef noodle soup. Maybe didn't taste Taiwanese since it seems like they're Cantonese. It did taste more similar to the soup base for a wonton soup with some modifications. But it was good and tasted like an Asian chef made it. Nice chewy noodles, may have been handmade. Loved the Shanghai dumplings as well. Thick chewy skin and they serve it properly with vinegar and ginger. Some of the other reviews are weird. One person spent three months in Asia and was surprised there was no sticky rice. South China usually uses jasmine which isn't really sticky. That's like saying you went to Europe for three months and was surprised you couldn't find coq au vin or schnitzel in a British pub.

My second time. Food was served freshly cooked after 20 mins which is fine for me. Service was great and friendly. I am sure I will be back for my third time.

On 23rd October, my wife and I visited this restaurant for our lunch. I ordered shrimp and winter melon soup, aromatic crispy duck and lotus leaf steamed rice. All meals were so good. All staffs were also very nice. Very comfortable restaurant, we felt. Although we found many dishes on the menu, we just ordered at this time. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you!

We got met with wonderful interior and really nice Chinese music playing in the background and lovely views from the window which overall created great atmosphere. Everyone in my company ordered different main meal with noodles and everyone loved it, even my vegetarian friend. Portions are decent and so are prices. Theres a nice £11 deal for main deal + beverage of your choosing available until 4.30pm. Very pleasant service!

Been there a couple of times to have a quick and good lunch. In fact, there's a nice £11 deal for main deal plus beverage of your choosing available until 4.30pm. Both the noodles and the rice were tasty and the portion size big enough. Recommended, a little hidden gem in the middle of the city centre!

We enjoyed our visit here. There wasn't a big crowd so service was good. Nice ambiance with a good view. The flowers on the tables were real. The food actually tasted good and authentic at reasonable prices. A surprise for us visiting Scotland for the first time.

My family and I are Chinese and was craving Chinese food in Edinburgh. We stumbled upon HongFu Noodle Bar, conveniently located within 2 mins walk of the Edinburgh train station. We were warmly welcomed by the staff who took our orders. The food was absolutely delicious - we enjoyed the pineapple chicken fried rice, curry dishes, and rice and noodles, and more. We (being Chinese ourselves) were so impressed by the quality of the and authentic taste of the food; it is also very good value, well priced with generous portions. The staff (especially Kim and Matthew) are very attentive and we are so happy with their service. We also noticed that the restaurant has a lot of click and collect/ delivery orders. We came back to HongFu Noodle Bar again for two more meals (lunch and dinner) throughout our 5 day visit to Edinburgh. We even ordered some lunches to eat on the train on the last day of our visit. We enjoyed the foods and ate so quickly, I forgot to take some photos. Below is two of our favourites- the curry beef brisket with vermicelli and fried vermicelli noodles.

Would definitely recommend, the tofu and oyster mushroom dishes were lovely. Restaurant is located upstairs on first floor, only a few yards across from Waverley Station. Lunchtime deal menu available, mainly meat dishes. A la carte option still served.

Amazing authentic Chinese food, not typical English takeaway style. I highly recommend A43 Fine Special Herb Braised Lamb! You have to walk up a flight of stairs to enter the restaurant.

Really pleasant surprise and some of the most delicious Chinese food I’ve had in Edinburgh. We stumbled in on a whim. The place was quiet but busy with takeaway orders coming in. I’m half-Chinese so very picky when it comes to dishes and I was blown away at how delicious and authentic everything was. We had three courses of hot & sour soup, steamed rice wrapped in bamboo leaves (never been able to find this anywhere else, and spicy lamb & noodles (similar to hotpot) and a delicious spicy beef dish. The portion sizes were massive - really good value for money. I will definitely be back.

Real authentic Chinese food! I came from Hong Kong and I haven't had this level of quality for quite a while, with the very reasonable price. Service was good, food was definitely good. Great taste and temperature. Really should give it a try.

We entered this place on a whim and wow the food was way better than we expected! We ordered the aubergine with spices and another dish I forgot the name of (fried pork?) as well as the fried rice. The server was lovely.

Good food, clean restaurant, and good views of Princes St. Lunch specials are a good deal, the size of the dishes is a decent value. They had great flavours and a good spice level. Our group of 4 shared two noodle dishes and a vegetable dish for lunch.
