Great food and service. Portions were a good size and very filling. I have wanted to have a calzone with vegan cheese for ages and Ciao Roma delivered! Would definitely go back and recommend to others.
A lovely surprise!
Must admit, we judged it a bit from the outside, but took the chance and by golly it paid off! Partner had the haggis ravioli and he savoured every bite, I had the best ham pizza anyone could ask for. Service was first class, very polite and very efficient. Very reasonably priced too. Will definitely go back on our next visit to Edinburgh.
Best pasta and steak I’ve ever had. With such friendly staff and engaging decor it’s hard not to love this place.
I will 100% be revisiting and recommend to family and friends visiting Edinburgh.
This is as close you will get to good Italian food outside Italy. And if you are in Edinburgh for 3 days and end up visiting this place 2 times - one can be sure that the food is really good.
So I ordered the following on the two occasions - mushroom risotto, ravioli with smoked mozzarella and aubergine, quattroformaggi and spinach baked pasta, mediterania pizza and ICE CREAMS!!
The food was spectacular and the staff was also very helpful - must visit if you are in Edinburgh.
We popped in to Ciao Roma on Friday night with two of my mums pals. From the moment we walked in, the staff were friendly and attentive, even offering us a free limoncello at the end of the meal.
I had pate and a Parma pizza and they were both delicious. My mum is gluten intolerant and they went above and beyond to make sure there were options for her which she also said was delicious.
Ciao Roma is a relaxed place where you can go for a date, family gathering, or something more formal.
Would definitely recommend.
I went here tonight with my friend before the theatre and really liked it. The food was tasty and they had a great variety. I had the chicken pesto salad which was very yummy. Before sharing a ice cream sundae with my friend, which was great. It was very reasonable priced and not too busy.
Authentic Italian food, family atmosphere. Clean and fast service. Don't leave without trying one of their delicious desserts, Tartufo is my favourite.
If you're looking for an authentic Italian restaurant in Edinburgh, this is probably the right place. We were there for dinner and the food was as good as in Italy. I really recommend the fresh pasta and polpette.
Love the food here. So authentic and tasty! We ordered 6 dishes and all of them were good. The service was great too.
Really good food in my experience, not everyone in my company had the same feeling, such as the carbonara being too creamy, but my Agnello spaghetti was great. The dessert I had was also delicious! It is the panacotta with caramel, and almost every dessert had ice cream as a side too.
We came back one year after our first review and it's still a great place with good food, good value for money and authentic.
Service is fast, so you can eat between 2 Fringe shows really easily.
The caneloni Al ragu were very tasty and the tiramisu extremely good.
There are loads of different types of canoli too.
One of the best authentic Italian food in UK I have ever tried. The design of the restaurant is incredible with nice little touches, representing famous people and history of Italy. The food was fantastic, delicious and hot. Everything's cooking for your order from scratch in an open kitchen.
Large portions and hearty dishes wouldn't disappoint even a refined eater.
My 11 years old said it was the best pizza 🍕in her entire life😍.

Pasta is quite authentic, but the highlight must be the dessert! Highly recommend the cannolis and gelato - we came back for these multiple times.
It's not overly stimulating in flavor and has a deep richness, which I liked
My absolute favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. I have tried various starters including the mussels which were incredible. The pasta is fresh, home made and dishes are delicious. It’s run by Italians and is the best I’ve had in the UK. A definite must!
Menu was varied but was limited tonight not their usual large amount of choice. It was still good though. Had pizza which was thin based which is how I like it but there wasn't much of a topping hence the dropping of one star, this made it an average pizza rather than exceptional pizza. Had ice cream which was lovely, my friend had one of the rather spectacular desserts! It was glorious! Restaurant was buzzing, great atmosphere & staff were excellent! Busy place so would recommend booking!! Will go again!
