We went at 9:30 on a Saturday night and the place was buzzing. We had three courses all arrived quickly and even though it was late staff were friendly and attentive. Both of us had hardly eaten all day so we're hungry and the meal was very satisfing. I had goats cheese and grilled aubergine salad. Then we shared an epic platter. Ribs. Beef cheeks and wings all brilliant. Taco OK and slaw a tad dry for me. Bbq black eye beans were great. We both had a pudding and coffee. With two bottles of the delicious syrah and tips bill came to £56 each. Undeniably the best value and satisfying meal I've had this year. Very happy to go back. Great place.

Lovely place with a great lunch menu and good prosecco and craft beers. Excellent quality ingredients, very nice staff and decent prices. Book beforehand though, the place is very small!

Good service and great food. The crispy pigs ear and Pistachio dip were my favourite sides/starters. If you're feeling hungry (and like your meat), go for the 3Birds & Beasts platter to share between two. It's massive but doesn't cut any corners on quality.

Absolutely fabulous restaurant neatly tucked away. The menus are just genius and all gluten free - it's a breath of fresh air and away from the norm. Cracking find, but book ahead.

This little restaurant is fabulous, especially if you're looking for a cute date spot, or a friend get together. Their menu is fun and diverse, but the Big Cow is to die for. It was the perfect amount for two meat lovers, and was absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be recommending it to friends if they visit Edinburgh, and will be personally returning for sure!

Casual, friendly, good food and reasonable price. Book ahead. Seared scallop first plate was excellent. Monk fish and shrimp in tika masala was fresh and spicy. Chicken with new potatoes and peas was good also. Yummy Rhubarb Mess dessert.

We loved our trip to the sister restaurant the Apiary last year and had been meaning to get to Three Birds for some time. Smaller than its counterpart, there is something cosy about this restaurant but it may not be for those who like a bit of space round their tables.

Okay the three birds is arguably one of my favorite restaurants in Edinburgh. Here's why: innovative without being pompous, great prices-you can enjoy really fresh delicious food without spending £30 a course, fantastic staff-everyone is so friendly and just cool. Great atmosphere-cozy and comfy.
I've never had a bad experience and I've gone in multiple times with various friends and not been disappointed.

I can't wait to go back to The Three Birds again. There were so many delicious choices on the menu. I chose the thai spiced sesame chicken to start and for main course I had pork belly with roast potatoes, spinach and cider cream. Delicious. The atmosphere was chilled out and the staff were friendly and chatty. I'm looking forward to sampling more of the delicious and great value menu.

I absolutely love the Three Birds.

My first visit was on a works Christmas lunch in 2013 where we had the whole place to ourselves. Then, excited to go back I recently returned for some festive lunch with 4 friends.

Not only is the food here delicious, it's really affordable, the staff are friendly and the setting is really laid-back.

My friends and I tickled our taste buds with some sharing starters, Green pitted olives (THEE tastiest olives i've ever eaten) and some crispy pigs ears, which were scrumptious!

Starter: I opted for the Spicy crab, sweetcorn & spring onion fritters, which were light, non-greasy (as you would sometimes expect) and delightful.
Main: Pork belly with a black pudding, cranberry & chestnut hash, savoy cabbage and
redcurrant glaze. The presentation was great, it looked like the yummiest stack of food i've ever seen. The pork was cooked perfectly, as was the small slice of crackling, which is notoriously difficult to get just right. Three Birds definitely delivered!

Pudding: As the five of us were stuffed full, we opted to share 2 Rocky road with peanut butter & strawberry jam icecream's between the 5 of us, which added a perfect sweet finish to our dining experience.

I will definitely return again. Love this little place. A hidden gem!

The Three Birds absolutely deserves a fabulous 5, as I really cannot fault the place. My most recent visit was for a festive girlie treat, delivered to our tastebuds from the ever-tempting menu of interesting combinations and tasty delights.

One of the friendly and chatty female owners served us food and laughs, true to the warm welcome and personable service of which the restaurant has become known. The setting is simple and relaxed, like dining at a friend's house.

The food is always absolutely spot on. We grazed on sides of super-sized olives (the BEST olives I've ever tried) and crispy pigs ear which was a first for me. I then started with the spicy crab, sweetcorn and spring onion fritters, which were light, surprisingly non-greasy and had lovely subtle flavours. My slow braised lamb shoulder main was sooooo tender, and served on a bed on fennel & orange butternut squash mash. My friends ordered the pork belly with a black pudding, cranberry and chestnut hash which I obviously had to try. YUM! I almost had food envy.

Despite our bursting bellies, this is the kind of place you make room for dessert. We couldn't resist the rocky road with peanut butter and jam ice cream so we ordered 2 between the 5 of us. AMAZING.

I love everything about this wee place and will definitely be back again with family, friends or the felly.

The food and service at Three Birds are both excellent and I can’t wait to go back. In Three Birds the staff are always very friendly and helpful, they are very good at giving you advice if you’re stuck on what to order.

The last time I went in I had the crab, peanut and caramel chicken wings which always intrigued me so I decided to try them. I have to say they didn’t disappoint as they were delicious. My friend had the red pepper & paprika soup to start which she also enjoyed. For my main I had chicken stuffed with ricotta and cheese with a side of potatoes. The chicken was very tasty but very filling so make sure your hungry if you order it. The main course that my friend opted for was the lamb with sweetbread and sweet potatoes. It was also delicious; the sweet potatoes in particular were very nice. After the meal we were so stuffed we couldn’t manage a dessert but we definitely enjoyed our first two courses and bottle of wine.

So to the Three Birds, came here for a friends birthday with a very food savvy crowd of people, mainly waiters and waitresses from some of Edinburghs best eateries and I think I can say we all left very impressed with what we found.

Before starters we also had a plate of the Crispy Pig Ears, yep thats no typo...pigs ear. And im happy to report they were delicious served with a nice aioli and sea salt.

For starter I opted for the pigeon breast on a bed of peas and pine nuts. Simple cooking and really delicious. The pigeon was pink, juicy and so tender. Winter might be coming but at least that means game birds are back on the menu yuuuum!!

For main out of a table of 14, 11 of us went for the same thing!!! The steak special cooked in a bone marrow butter. OH LORD....... I had mine rare and as well as being perfectly cooked the flavour was incredible. The marrow flavour was there to be enjoyed. Superb. The meat was tender, juicy and with the flavour of the bone marrow it was a real treat. Is it Unami the Japanese talk about? I'm not sure.....:but this steak.....this had it all!

Deserb, a mango sponge with vanilla icecream. i also tried the blue cheese icrecream and the cheese board with my dining chums! All lovely!!!

The service, the wine, the evening.....lovely place.....lovely food! Cant wait to go back!! As sad as I was to see le Moutin Noir go these guys have taken up the mantle admirably and without doubt will continue to grow a loyal and regular customer base.

The Three Birds comes Highly Jd Recommended!!!

This amazing restaurant is the best dining experience I've had in Edinburgh. As somebody who cannot eat gluten, I stumbled across this place with an almost entirely gluten-free menu after searching online. The food was beyond incredible, the atmosphere cosy and relaxed, and the staff were superb, with the perfect balance of service against knowing when to leave you be. Will be defo be coming here again.

Excellent food with great presentation and flavours. Kid friendly too with a booster seat strapped to a chair, kid's cutlery, plate and cup too, and changing table. Friendly, attentive staff. We've not been able to come to Edinburgh for 2 years and the last time we came we couldn't eat here as it was fully booked. This time we booked in advance :)

This place is great for an intimate dinner with family, friends or even a great place to go for a date! There are fairy lights on the walls and it is has a very cosy feel. The staff are very attentive, friendly and welcoming. The food was great, with a plethora of gluten free (most of the food on the menu is gluten free), vegetarian and vegan choices. Starters are pretty small but in my opinion, the food was delicious. However, not everyone in the party enjoyed the food, in particular the Hake dish was not well received. Overall it was a good restaurant, and I would recommend it.

A great cosy restaurant with some unique seasonal flavours. The menu is up to date with delicious selections and treats. The brunch menu is great too with classics such as eggs Benedict. A two course menu costs £15 which is very reasonable. The staff are friendly and professional. I'm giving 4 stars because it is a small place and with Covid, I thought it was too small and the tables were too near each other.

Tourist here. Staff were great fun and very informative about local food and drink. Had an eggs benny with haggis, which was fantastic, and a local spirit I forget the name of, but reminded me of aquavit as the closest comparison. Would recommend to anyone and will return next I'm in town
