Always great service and food is so tasty and fresh as been to some Indians and can be greasy and not at all flavoursome I couldn't recommend enough.Never had bad service here and never have to wait or ask for anything very attentive staff.
Absolutely delicious food and the service could not be faulted. The restaurant itself is clean, and beautifully decorated. Highly recommend a visit
Went here on the last night of our holidays. Best meal we had in Edinburgh. Food was delicious 5 star
Excellent service and food really nice well worth a visit.
Fantastic food in great atmosphere x highly recommend
Great themed location. Quality food and good service.
Opposite Holiday Inn Express in Leith, I found this jewel serving Bengali and Indian delicacies. Though the taste of the food is anglicized to suit the Scottish palette, it is still pleasant to get a taste of home. Good service. The resturant is cosy except for a daft from the opening in the window behind me.
The best part of this restaurant is that, they can cook according to your taste, great food, good ambience, good service and they give good offers as well :-) :-) :-)
The outlet is situated at Commercial Street, Leith and serve Asian cuisine.
We were group of six and looking for Asian food (mainly veg) and somebody referred this place. This place was near to our Apartments (Ocean apartment), so we thought to try this outlet.
We ordered our variety of food.
I liked Tom Yum, Tarka Dal, Naan, Aloo gobhi here.
Food was not at all spicy but good in taste and quality.
I liked the ambiance of this outlet. Service was also fine.
Great evening. Dined at Britannia Spice during the festive period with my office staff. Everyone had a great time and it was a fitting ending for a successful year for us. The festive menu was very good value for money. There was a choose from Indian, Thai, Nepali and Bangladeshi cuisine. Staff were very attentive and presentation and taste of food was excellent. We will be back
I'm not much of a connoisseur when it comes to Indian food but I do know what I like and I liked my Thai (yup- Thai) Green Curry. Aparantly my dining partner could have made it himself thus rendering it sub standard in his eyes - but I disagree - ain't had no homemade version that tastes this good.
The starter was a bit disapointing - the McChicken Pokoras were a little to reminiscent of the chicken nuggets I gobbled as a kid, but the wee lemon slice juicer made up for it.
The restaurant itself is amusing, and I don't mean this in a condescending way - the homage to The Britannia is everywhere, but not overbearing. (If you can position yourself under the artwork of 'Folk Who Sailed Round The World, The Map of Routes They Sailed and Mini Versions of the Objects They Utilsed', then do so - kept us amused between courses). Even the waiters (not waitresses for some reason) have lovely little sailor jackets on - was kinda holding out for a wee mid meal sea-faring song...no such luck.
Having stuffed ourselves with tasty currys, naan, chick peas and rice we almost made the fatal error of overlooking the desert menu. Don't make this mistake. Make your way to the back page and peruse the list of liquors and the charming little descriptions of each...
The service was great and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the mischievous fella behind the bar who kept check of our sobriety/ ability to drive with frequent "how many fingers am I holding up" tests. Where else do you get this kind of service?
So, having said not a great deal about the food (I did say I'm no expert) I would give the Britannia Spice a gid solid 9/10 for the - and I'm sorry for using this term - "experience".
Exciting Menu. I have been visiting the restaurant for about 3 years and it is consistantly outstanding quality with superb and attentive staff. Infact I would be as bold to say that it is the staff that make this restaurant what it is.
I highly recommend this restaurant, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Superb food, nice twist on regular Indian with Sri lankam and Nepalese dishes. Had the chicken Ceylon which was delicious. Service is attentive but not over bearing. For two with starters, mains, bread, beer and dessert we paid just £57. splendid, will go again.

Great food, great staff, but very quiet on a wet Sunday night.
This was a delightful surprise! The food was excellent with good portion sizes. It was so good, we ate there 3 times during our stay in Leith.
The atmosphere is inviting and clean and the service is prompt and welcoming. Highly recommended!
We had a lovely family evening here and the quality of the food was outstanding. I hadn't been for about 20 years but it was just as good as I remembered it. Don't be put off by the somewhat tired exterior as the inside remains convivial and the service was extremely friendly. I would highly recommend and will definitely not be leaving it 20 years until I return the next time!
Great food, expensive popadoms.
No atmosphere to the extent everything was going to start floating around the room.
The restaurant itself is very quiet not busy, near Ocean Terminal for parking but has parking outside, food was ok didn't have a dessert menu, service was ok, the atmosphere was very quiet not much going on, cheapest dinner i have ever had.
We went late on a quiet night but everything was spot on. The service was excellent and so was the food. I would strongly recommend this place
Vry regular solo visitor for 2 years....food and service always excellent.
Have eaten Indian food in the far East, London, Manchester curry mile (once lived there) and very many places as Indian is my favourite food.
Now I live in Edinburgh this is my preferred go to Indian restaurant and where I bring friends and family visiting.
Don't often leave reviews but the recent bull (people taking liberties) needs a little honest compensation as this is a lovely restaurant
Very nice dishes to choose from well cooked and presented. Juice was out an opened bottle and was flat. It would be better to offer caned juice rather than cheep out the bottle savers virrioty.
Loved this place. We wanted a proper curry before going back to sad curry land (Sweden) and we got exactly that. The gentleman who helped us knew his food and made amazing recommendations. We will definitely be back when we visit again in August.
Great food. Great service. Perfect end to our family trip in Scotland.
Can't believe this hasn't got more stars in the reviews,
The 3 off us that went all had starters and a main each, we had Nan bread and the 2 dishes of rice was enough for the 3 of us. The chicken in the dishes we had in the mains was very tender and was like it was done in a slow cooker was so easy to cut.
The food quality was outstanding and left the 3 of us absolutely stuffed 😂 would definitely go back and can 100% recommend
Excellent food and service. Friendly and welcoming staff. Would highly recommend. One of the nicest indian meals we have had 👍
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The starters were very tasty and my lamb kebab was lean and tender. Our mains were so flavoursome you couldn't help but enjoy them. A huge plus was that the food came very hot (temperature). The Peshwari naan was one of the best I've had. Abu, our server, was brilliant and it was obvious he enjoys his job. Other reviews say the décor is a bit jaded, so what, the food more than compensates for any shortcomings there. We'll certainly go back on our next visit to Edinburgh.
We just came across this spot as it was close to our accommodation and would recommend it to anyone! Very great service (waiter was very attentive and helpful) and the food was so delicious! Lovely decor. Will be back next time we are in Leith!!
