I have no problem with the shop itself and they are doing well considering all the upheaval. I do miss the old shop, but looking forward to being back to normal once the new shopping centre is opened. We were at the cafe which is not laid out very well. We had to stand in a queue for coffee then had to wait to get a cake. You then have to go to a separate bit for paying. The cafe is my only gripe & we did not like the very strong latte's. Beautiful view & cakes though. I do like the idea that you can have a wee wine or prosecco.
Even though the shop and staff are bravely coping with the rebuild around them you wouldn't know. They make every effort to welcome each and everyone into the shop.we spoke to various me bees of staff who were on hand to help with anything and everything.Last night offered me time to look at other items I would not have seen normally. The shop is very presentable and I will definitely be going back.JL never knowingly undersold....keep it up.
The best customer service ever. Love the restaurant and the food available. Chilled water available without having to ask . First class always with John Lewis and their staff
bought my mother of the bride outfit on Thursday and although the shop is not the same with all the work going on at St James Centre I have to say I had excellent service from all the staff involved. Also the staff who are at different areas in the shop giving customers directions where to go you are all doing a great Job.
The best shop in Edinburgh. Happy spend hours in the Christmas shop
Got to be the best view from any John Lewis cafe, except for Sheffield

Everyone at JL edinburgh doing really well under the pressure of redesign of shop. customer service always been and still is brilliant ! Loving the cafe looking less like canteen more relax and chill environment tho some music would be good on at softly tone and couldn't find the phone charger which good way have time out from your mobile.
Thank you John Lewis for great customer service again today! My item was reduced in price through price match just after I paid for it, and a lovely lady refunded the difference immediately. This is the second time JL have been fantastic after I have phoned with a concern! They are fab
My favourite shop has everything you could need. Only down side is renovations that are taking place with the centre. It's like going through a ghost town .
Great shop and very friendly partners
Lovely views if you are lucky enough to get a window seat.
Food is average. Overpriced for what it is, with a small selection of food. A small roll is £4.95. Cakes are good, though.
We went there on a busy weekend. Most of the tables were taken, and the few available ones had dirty dishes on them. There is room for improvement on the service.
Overall, excellent location and a good place to stop for cake and coffee when shopping at John Lewis.
Lovely restaurant with a fantastic view. Lucky enough to get a window table. Caesar salad with chicken and bacon and rhubarb and custard cake were both every bit as good as they look in the photos.
Hidden gem in Edinburgh. Top floor of the John Lewis building with the best views of Edinburgh across the forth.
Food and cakes are great. Coffee is still barista made.
Went first thing on a weekend morning - managed to get seats near the windows to enjoy the great view. Was also impressed with the proactive, warm and welcoming staff.
Had a very enjoyable afternoon tea with superb views. Very relaxing.
Very busy today but tables were cleared & cleaned very quickly.
