Me and my wife went on a recommendation of a local friend and were very happy with food, service, *quantity* and quality. We definitely will recommend it for Indian tourists visiting Edinburgh to have a meal here. We ordered appetizers and 2 main course dishes with Indian bread. We were barely able to finish the appetizers as the portion size is quite good. And had to get the rest packed. Overall it was an amazing experience. Far away from India when you get to have food sutting Indian taste buds was great satisfaction. 👍👍

Tasty Indian food by kind servers. They were accommodating if you tell them your spice levels. Also it was one of the few places that was open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I would like them to add hot beverages in their menu.

An honest review If you get “western” curries they’re actually disgusting. The garlic chilli chicken tastes like chilli powder in water. The korma tastes like cream in water, absolutely zero flavour. The food isn’t cheap so paying this for a good curry is fine paying it for a bad one stings. The karahi and madras are absolutely class. Without exaggeration best breads (roti, naan, shawarma) I have ever had in my life and I eat a LOT of Indian food. Who ever does the breads here is a bread god they are second to absolutely none. With the wraps I found the chilli sauce far spicier than usual 1 and I thought I liked spice - garlic mayo which I normally find bland actually works well because the meat is properly seasoned. You’ll not be disappointed with how seasoned and fresh the meat is no cheap gristle here. Loads of fresh veg (bar the korma) and when ordering king prawn dishes they’re really generous with amount of prawns. Definitely recommend just steer away from the typical western curries which are 2/10 and work your way through the wraps/starters/sides/traditional curries which are 10000/10 Delivery driver is super lovely too!

The food was amazing & the service was great! We had a voucher so decided to get a few different things. The haggis pakora was fantastic! We had the chicken & haggis pakora, mixed rice, saag aloo, aloo gobi (cauliflower was amazing) & korma. There aren’t any baby changing facilities - not an issue for us but just in case.

I very, very rarely order Indian takeaway as yet to find one worth what they cost. I had planned to make my own curry to light but due to a foot injury was struggling to stand in the kitchen so took a gamble, and ordered from Slumdog, we’re new to Edinburgh so aren’t familiar with the best local takeaways. I was however, pleasantly surprised. Very speedy delivery, and considering it came from near leith to Niddrie, it was piping hot. The curry sauce was absolutely delicious. The perfect balance of spice, creaminess and rich flavour and texture. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the Pilou rice was the tastiest I’ve EVER had. My daughter claimed it was too spicy but I found it to be just right. The chips are very generously sized portion and as an accompaniment can easily feed 4. However there is room for improvement, hence the 4 stars. The Chicken pieces for me, are a bit too fatty, though, I know plenty of people who’d eat it like that. I’m just very fussy and one of the main reasons I cook myself is to cut out all the bits of chicken I don’t like, and the garlic naan, just tasted like a plain naan, not enough garlic, just a though for the future folks. We live in Scotland, us brits are obsessed with garlic lol. I shall order again.

Food was delicious! Portions were filling and satisfying. I got a medium-spice dish and I would have said it was mild, but the flavour was great. We also tried the honey naan--yum!! Staff were friendly and accommodating. Our server rarely came to check on us; we had to go to the counter a couple times when we wanted more food or the bill. An overall good experience!

We ordered one portion of bajis, two mains, two naans and a portion of rice. Ordered at 6pm on a Sunday night and delivered in under 20 minutes. Total cost was around £35, pretty reasonable for the amount of food we got. Everything was piping hot and very tasty. Definitely one of the better Indian takeaways in Edinburgh in my experience.

** edit** after last night's terrible service from the delivery driver the owner called with an apology and gave me my order free of charge today delivered at exactly the time he had said by a much more appropriate driver very nice guy and the food looks and tastes very good . !! Excellent service from both owner and delivery guy !! I have left my original review to be seen as it's good for people to know they are quick to fix mistakes made by incompetent staff members The two stars is based on food delivered 2 days ago . Tonight I ordered again expecting the same service driver called back asking me to come outside ( iam paying for delivery service) to find out he was at a different address no where near the address I gave him also gave him direction for him still not to find it 20 minutes passed for him to call back I explained again for him then to speak to me in an appalling manner so I told him I didn't want the food anymore as it would be cold after he was told this he then turned up demanding i take the food again speaking in a bad manner untill my partner come to the door and told him .

Slumdog make the best, most authentic curries in Edinburgh. Every mouthful is bursting with intricate flavours that have been carefully thought through and orchestrated. Fantastic menu with options and creativity you won’t find anywhere else. Many vegetarian and vegan options. Tonight I had a delicious vegetable madras curry with jeera (cumin) rice with peas and peshwari nan. Colin had authentic Punjabi mixed Dahl with pilao rice. All totally amazing! Great Kingfisher beer and glass of merlot. We are so blessed to have Slumdog. Thank you guys for a fantastic taste experience! (Sorry - forgot to take pics as we couldn’t wait to eat the amazing food!!!)

Great Indian food the portion sizes are also very generous. The paneer wrap is a must try. Takeaway is cheaper than eating in.
