Writing this review for my mother as she's not on Facebook. She is a regular customer who loves the great food and service especially from Lucas. Would highly recommend to others. Carol and Colin
Being gluten free it's not very often you get great fish and chips. This place was great with lots of other gluten free options too.
Wow we had our first take away fish and chips we're amazing best local chippy by far definitely will be back .
Was in the restaurant yesterday after an afternoon at Portobello and the food was excellent. Best fish & chips I've had since Anstruther a couple of years ago. Very reasonable prices too, children's menu is good too
Amazing fish n' chips and they even deep fried a mars bar for my partner upon request.
There’s coeliac and then there’s coeliac. There are those that are following a gluten free diet as a lifestyle choice and then there are those that are genuinely allergic to gluten and anything containing wheat flour. My mum is a true 100% verified coeliac; if she eats anything with gluten in it, she is sick for days. So as a family we are always on the look out for places ‘to take mum’. Mum is also a war child, so doesn’t eat anything that’s complicated, anything with sauces and likes things nice ‘n plain. This means no curries, no Chinese, no new age gluten free cooking, no pasta, no rice, no bread. It’s a tough ask sometimes… but she does LOVE fish.
very friendly staff. great quality of food. would recommend to a friend .

A must have for those who are craving for fish and chips in Portobello! Great food, great ambience, superb service. Waiter was very attentive and helpful.
Their fish and chips were scrumptious and goes well with all the sauces. Big portion for their price too. They do serve half portion for those who don't eat that much, and gluten-free version too.
Pizza was chef's kiss too. Had the Del Marie pizza and the seafood are fresh.
Definitely recommended!
Popped in for some lunch while I was visiting Portobello beach. I looked on Google for best review and this is where it showed. We were going to sit outside as it was a roasting hot day but there were a few groups of people that were blowing vape and cigarette smoke in large clouds. We decided to sit in the large restaurant to avoid it. It was very clean and had a fish tank as you entered. The girl serving wasn’t very nice at all and we waited quite an while for our food. The food was a large portion and very good quality. It was more expensive to sit in to eat which made me a little disheartened as I felt we had to.
Fantastic chippy, with nice fresh fish and crispy batter. Great chips, and decent prices for the quality you get. Probably one of the best fish and chips ive had. Good selection of of other classic chip shop offerings👍
It’s not easy to find a decent chippy in Edinburgh, so to find this gem of a place was a surprise….Fresh succulent haddock.Nice crispy batter.Decent portion. Not overpriced.
Beats The East Coast in Musselburgh and The Fish market in Newhaven for price, quality and portion size, in my opinion. Did not like the minnows supplied by the previous two. I will be back (see the empty plate !)
First visit here last Friday after a long late day at work really wanted to visit here for a while and absolutely so glad I did the girl who served me ( blonde hair and glasses ) didn’t get her name but was very friendly and I said it was my first visit she was hoping I’d enjoy and be back soon - the fish and chips looked and smelled amazing and on tasting delicious- fish was crisp batter white meat inside not a single bone beautiful and the chips done in fresh oil ( I know a lot are using their cooking oil for longer due to rising costs ) were amazing golden crisp and dry not soggy or the previous nights chips reheated perfect and very good value for money in this economy - in the words of Arnold - I’ll be back 👍
Update - her name is Lily and I’ve been back
Initially we were told they couldn't accommodate 6 people so we were going to leave. We chose to stay and sit at different tables at which point they put some tables together. Great
I had fish and chips - though they had fish in breadcrumbs - which is my preference and seems to be quite rare in restaurants and take aways. It was great. Thoroughly recommended.
Very nice fish and chips with friendly staff.
The fish was delicious with a nice thin batter and the chips were crispy. The curry sauce was nice too as was the coffee that I had.
Everything is perfectly tasty, first time having my fish and chips with brown sauce and the tartare sauce was particularly good, fish and chip were top end but missing that sea side spark you usually get from coastal restaurants. Nothing to complain about mind and the waitress was lovely.
It was a cold, wet and windy night. We popped into the St Andrews for fish and chips. It was very busy with both customers and Deliveroo drivers waiting for orders.
We both ordered a special fish supper, and shared a tub of mushy peas and onion rings.
All were delicious.
If you are living in or visiting Portobello then you must visit St. Andrews! We stopped in the day we arrived from Toronto and fell in love. We are a group of seven with loads of requests and dietary needs. Our servers were the best. The food is fantastic. They accommodated us and were very gracious and considerate. Come and visit St. Andrews. You will not be disappointed. We came here three times and will come again! Thank you to the chefs and thank you to Adam and Finlay, you guys are fantastic.
