Always enjoy a boardgame cafe and same here.
Chill atmosphere, but quite basic as far as the set up goes.
Big enough selection of boardgames, had our favourites. Though they are starting to wear out, would recommend laminating the instruction guides in some of the games.
Food is reasonably priced though nothing too special.
All in all was a nice place to spend a few hours and have some fun
Awesome place and possibility of playing games in Edinburgh. The coffee was a bit burned to our taste though.
Noughts and Coffees is a superb board game cafe. By paying £3.50, you get to play an extensive list of various board games, from Pandemic to Jenga. The large table tops makes playing said games with a little extra space on the table for a warm panini and a coffee a pleasure.
Lovely cafe with a light, friendly atmosphere. There’s a wide variety of games to play and the food is amazing; especially the veggie options on offer!
Fair prices, decent food and drink selection. Clean, pleasant and well presented environment. Friendly, efficient staff. The real draw here are the boardgames. Their selection is good, in very good condition, and well chosen. They approximate times accurately, and have chosen table sizes generally very well.
The pay-to-play price is reasonable if you just want a quick couple of games, and astonishingly cheap if you plan to play all day.
Highly recommended for enthusiasts and casual boardgamers alike. Also great to introduce friends and kids to boardgames here.
Very cute place with engaged staff, a comfortable place to spend an afternoon. Food and drinks are really tasty, quite impressed with those. Unfortunately the board games we tried were broken down (SLEEVE YOUR CARDS), with components mixed up or completely missing. Worst of all one of the games was missing the instructions. Table was also a bit small to handle both drinks and food and games. Nice café but could use quality improvements in terms of the board game aspect. A dedicated teacher would also be useful.
I am really fond of the people running this place from this brief experience, so I gave it a 4 because I think there's room to grow and improve. Please try it out!
Only had time for a short stay, lovely atmosphere, staff very kind and welcoming, great menu with good dietary options.
Great selection of games and same company does escape games, I'll be trying them soon.
Worst thing about it is I couldn't stay longer (my own appointments), but I certainly will return.
This is a great place to be on your Edinburgh must visit list
Nice and simple. The owners don't fuss over you and leave you to your own devices so it's nice if you're going in for a simple coffee and a board game.
You have to pay around £2.50 to play one of their games which is the only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars since I've been to enough board game cafes where the games library is free to access. Frankly if I'm paying for food then I shouldn't really have to pay additionally for something that doesn't need to be replenished.
But I brought my own board game anyway so essentially it didn't matter. Something to be aware of though for those of you who have been to places like Scenario where it _is_ free.
Really enjoyed the few hours we spent here before traveling to the airport at the end of our holiday in Edinburgh.
The staff were very friendly and great with our young kids. The food was tasty and very reasonably priced. They had a reasonable selection of games that could be played for a small fee and were able to suggest games that may be suitable based on the age of our children.
When we are next in Edinburgh, this place will be on my to-do list again.
This was my first visit and it is a great place. Had food and played a game, some of the tables are a little tight for space but there is a friendly atmosphere and they have a fantastic selection of games. We'll worth a visit if you want to play board games.
Lovely cafe.
Pay as you enter, then you can just request any board game from the 'menu' and staff will get it for you (assuming someone else isn't currently playing it).
It's got a great atmosphere and everyone seemed super happy and chilled out there.
The food selection is great, and plenty of drinks to go around.
Great Atmosphere. We didn't go for the drinks but for the escape room and had a blast. Our guide was friendly and confident, made jokes to ease us into the experience and very welcoming. We tried the magical harry potter type room and will be happy to go back again and try another room.
Fabulous place to play interesting board games right in the heart of Edinburgh. Great drinks and food too
A fantastic place! A real gem- we would have spent a whole day here if we were in Edinburgh for more than two days! Just £2.50 each to play as many games as we wanted!! So it would be a great place to take your kids (or a big group of friends!) The staff were really helpful and friendly too.
I had a great time here. The food is good and reasonably priced, the staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of comfy space to play some great games. The only thing issue was that there was only a single toilet, it was quite busy so a bit of waiting was needed.
Absolutely fantastic venue. Lovely staff, great food (at prices I didn't realise existed in Edinburgh) and most importantly, you can play board games. The other patrons were very friendly too. I'll definitely be visiting again.
Had a lovely time playing board games here. £3.50 per person for as many board games as you like. Great atmosphere and would recommend. The smoothies were especially nice.
Super friendly staff. I felt very safe and welcomed (was v jumpy about the virus but they are being sensible and diligent). Nice game selection, though could do with a few more. Food is alright, not huge savoury selection - not great for dietary reqs if you want something big, but really nice gf df brownie and fake milks available. We will return.
I've been going to Noughts and Coffees with friends for months now and we have never run out of new and exciting games to play. The selection includes everything from from family classics, to board game staples, to new and innovative games. The atmosphere is amazing, and the cafe serves great coffee and food to your table.
If you and your friends are board game geeks or if you just want an afternoon chatting over coffee with a casual monopoly, this is the place in Edinburgh to be.
