Lovely place, great service, good food, we were in for breakfast, will defo be back
Lovely staff and very efficient service food was excellent.
Couldn’t fault the food or the service - we’ll be back
Have walked past this place everyday for years and always wanted to sample their menu and finally got the chance on Monday. Opted for the breakfast, hot drink and juice deal which cost less than a tenner. Mines was smoked salmon, avo egg on toast and his was bacon and eggs on toast. Runny poached eggs...perfect! I like the fact there are so many outdoor seats...perfect for people watching!

I love this place, down south I used to go here all the time. Staff super friendly the chicken and fries is mind blown, great and fast service, also uncertain about what to drink they will give you tips, small samples and make sure you get what you want!
It's good for lunch or breakfast. French design on menu and whole place. I've been twice in 2 weeks. First time service and food was bad, second time our waiters were really nice and my food was really good. I had onion soup and crispy duck. Just like in France in a brasserie. I'd try it again. I'm glad I went back second time otherwise would have a bad experience.
It was very noisy inside and we were able to sit outside. The food was very good, the steak was done to perfection. I would recommend people to go there if you like fine French cuisine
This beautiful french cafè is a lovely place to spend a few hours on a cold sunday morning. The place is spacious, bright and warm. The food is ok, but i was a little disappointed by the fries, not as good as the traditional scottish ones. Don't miss the tarte tarino with icecream, it's the best I have found in town!
French food is one of my favourites and Cafe Rouge, regardless which one you go to, always does a great job.
This particular branch is a large space with lovely decor and plenty of seating. It can get quite busy during the weekend and if you are larger party you may be required to wait for a while.
The food is delicious and fresh, and there is plenty of choice. I like to go for the full deal; a starter (the chicken pate), a main (either the Paysenne salad or a steak) and dessert (either the cheese board or Creme Brulee) and to top it off with a glass of red wine.
However, if you like to avoid chains and are looking for something a little more unique and authentic, head over to Grassmarket where you can enjoy amazing French food at Petit Paris (see my review of Petit Paris for more information).
My friend and I came here mid-week for a catch up and were so very pleasantly surprised! It was very big and spacious inside with lots of room between the tables so it didn't feel in any way cramped, it was also very busy for 5.30pm!
There was an instant lovely atmosphere about the place and the minute we entered one of the waiters greeted us and led us to our table. Our waiter for the evening was very polite and checked on us after every course.
So the food, I had a bacon and avacado salad which was very very tasty - the little strips of bacon had a lovely grilled as opposed to fried taste about them and the salad dressing was exactly how I like it. The portion size was also good! As a main I had a chicken escalop with lovely herb roasted potato wedges which were unbelievably tasty (I must have been craving salt!) I ate everything on my plate and it was a big portion so I must have been very hungry! There was a lot of variety on the menu and a few things I would have picked. I notice that they do breakfast too so I will definitely be going back there soon.
Overall, a really lovely pleasant evening with good food. It isn't fine dining but then what they are is all in the name - Cafe Rouge. All I can say - tres bon! (oh look, my higher French has come in handy afterall!)
I had an amazing time at 63rd and 1st!! Their food was beyond amazing! If you are looking for a place to go out on a date, then this is an amazing place for you!

4) Turkey with apricot stuffing and cranberry sauce
5) Pretzel and cheese (one of the best cheese I’ve tasted)
6) Turkey croquettes
7) Eggnog crème brûlée with a Christmas cookie!! Must TRY
8) Espresso Martini Truffle - soo RICH!!
Also, i got to meet the most amazing and humble down-to-earth influencer Bartosz during my visit there!
Booked for a corporate event of 10 last minute. Great location and interior, and excellent initial booking with a wonderful member of staff.
We were initially let down due to a short-staffing issue that led to a long wait getting seated and our order getting muddled up. This was recognised and turned around by an experienced female team member who saw the issue with our table, took control and got things back on track quickly. 63rd+1st, you need to recognise this individual, things were going south but she totally redeemed it.
Everyone enjoyed the food and drinks!
Beautiful interior, friendly staff and tasty food. I had the small prawn pil pil, a small beef Asian salad and ginger beer. Definitely coming to try other dishes.
Great food and atmosphere. Only giving 2 stars on the service because, while it was excellent service and they were attentive, etc, they did try to swindle us. We had a voucher from itison, and at first, they said it had been used, then that it was only half of the bill. We produced the voucher again and the receipt. The server took a pic of the code again, and miraculously, it was all ok. 🤔
Fine dining right here. All dishes we tried were cooked to perfection and very well balanced: sirloin perfectly done, sweet juicy scallops, a wonderful noodle-beef salad and surprisingly, loaded fries - just the right amount of sauce and fried onion on top, with fine strips of chilly. The staff is friendly and helpful, not sure what hapened when some of the negative reviews were given. Generally, a smart place for dinner or cocktails, a couple levels up from the nearby eateries. Loved it! Totally fair prices by the way. The Affogato just wraped it all up
I recently went along to try their Autumn menu but along side this they have launched their Christmas Cocktails 🎅and their Festive Experience.
For £35 per person, you'll get a three-course festive menu. Start with a selection of small plates for all to share including Prosciutto with Spiced Fig Chutney, Lobster 🦞 + Shrimp 🦐 Bon Bon and Jammy Chicken 🍗 Lollipops.
Then choose a main dish each; enjoy the show-stopping Vermouth Poached Turkey, 63rd+1st Blade of Beef or Oven Roasted Salmon and a selection of festive sides for the whole table including Pigs ‘n’ Blankets, Roast Potatoes and Maple Glazed Parsnips.
Finish with something sweet from our delectable festive desserts including Molten Lava Chocolate Tart and 63rd+1st Winter Trifle.
But if you aren't up for the three festive courses, try their Festive Pick + Mix Menu. Choose a small plate, main or dessert and pair it with one of their festive cocktails.
We went along to sample and here's what we tucked into.

Me and my friend went for some drinks on Saturday afternoon and we decided to have some food as well. Cocktails were absolutely amazing, I had the lemon and basil martini and my friend had the Sicilian spritz. The burgers we had were very tasty and the ice cream scones in the end were literally the icing on the cake. Staff was very attentive and helpful. We'll definitely be back.
Had a few cocktails with family to celebrate a birthday. Had been a bit concerned when I heard it was owned by TGI Fridays but have to say it was a great experience. Nice decor and a lovely space. Service was really good, and the cocktails were great. Also priced really well in comparison to some other city centre places.
Outstanding service here last night for a birthday celebration. The staff were absolutely top drawer, polite courteous and attentive-well done you guys. Our compliments to the chef and kitchen staff also as the food was fresh and delicious. Loved the vibe in this eatery and would highly recommend it 👌
Attended a networking lunch here and it was my 1st time in the restaurant. Food was delish, service was impeccable and the busy event creates a festive cheer to start December off!
Would highlight recommend.

Very nice cocktail bar from the owners of TGI Fridays.
Decent prices.
Used the £49 Itison voucher deal here on a Sunday evening. 2 courses with a very nice bottle of Merlot to go with the meal as well. One of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had in Edinburgh. Would definitely recommend, the decor inside is also great.
My friend & I had a delicious Sunday lunch here today to celebrate my birthday. Cannot fault a thing. Callum really made the experience exceptional though with his wonderful, friendly manner. He's a real credit to 63rd + 1st!
First time at 63rd and it was amazing. Had the chicken lollipops as a starter then the burger for main. Well out together. Lovely space bright and airy. Drinks menu is amazing as well
