I've passed this little spot many times on my travels, and last night decided it was about time I nipped inside. What a triumphant decision it was! This quaint little Italian bistro has bundles upon bundles of charm, with packets of pasta hanging from the light fixtures along the walls and it's nifty tiled architecture bringing a smile to my face.
The restaurant was quiet, but the waiter who served us (who I think was also doing all of the cooking!) managed to liven things up a bit; this was the most polite service I'd ever received at a restaurant in Edinburgh, very personable indeed. We were supplied with very nifty antique-looking cutlery (pictured), monogrammed and glistening, which sums up the attention to detail in the service at Inca. The food arrived swiftly and without issue; I opted for a Pizza Pollo whilst my partner went for the Carbonara and we split a Garlic Bread.
The herbs in the cheese of the pizza were just right, the dough fluffy and not too crisp, and the chicken nicely spread out yet plentiful. The Carbonara had just the right amount of seasoning, cheesy and bright yellow as it should be. The garlic bread was slightly crisped round the edges, and occasionally slightly too crunchy for it, but I feel this balanced the other textures of the meal perfectly.
I loved it at Inca. Properly nice food from a properly nice person. A lot quieter than many of the other Italian restaurants around town, and undercutting them on price quite considerably. Definitely worth a go if you fancy venturing away from the more established names in Edinburgh when you fancy a wee taste of Italy.
A quirky little place with an old-school Italian vibe about the decor and classic Italian menu. Whilst I am cautious about a place that has a huge number of items on the menu, and this one does, nonetheless the food we ordered was really good and not too expensive. The proprietor is a character, a slightly eccentric old Italian who is warm and friendly and seems to treat his regulars with real affection. That said he does do everything and this means the service can be a bit random and haphazard. I’m glad we were first to arrive as there is no real system for service. If you turn up and he is in the kitchen, just sit down and don’t wait to be seated or you’ll be waiting for ages. Don’t be in a hurry if you plan to eat here. That said, I feel this is part of the charm of the place - it’s personal service not fast service. Go with a good attitude and you will rewarded with a nice night out.
Beautiful little family run Italian restaurant with a homely feel, polite charismatic service and a very palatable menu. The restaurant itself is deceiving, being named after an ancient South American civilization and some decor having Nazca line symbols on it, but this just adds to the overall character of the eatery.
I highly recommend the sorbet served inside a hollowed out orange.
My wife and I were traveling through Edinburgh and we're looking for a place to eat, and when I saw "Inca" I honestly thought it was Mediterranean, but this ITALIAN place was absolutely fantastic. The gentleman who served us was very very personable, kind, and polite. And that's before we even got to the food. We were craving some pizza, and it was definitely one of the best pizza we've had, and definitely the best pizza we had in Scotland. Very reasonable price for an excellent meal.
The food was wonderful and our waiter/chef/owner was so sweet. He was incredibly respectful of women and clearly loves his restaurant. All around it was a great experience and I highly recommend people check it out!
June 2018. Great little Italian Restaurant with a 'trattoria' like atmosphere. Reasonable price. Warm friendly staff. Good Pizza. Cold Peroni. What more do you want?
Lovely place and management is extremely helpful!! Very nice man, always gives me ice cream if I eat all my dinner. Even though I’m 18......
This restaurant is run by a very friendly fellow and the pizza is spectacular. Absolutely excellent experience. Great for casual, late night dining.
One of the best small restaurants around. Casual dining, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Prices perfectly reasonable.
Sadly this restaurant has now closed permanently. Once had a loyal band of customers who wished the owner well for the future. But, the friends of Inca now must find another friendly restaurant.
Excellent food, friendly atmosphere, hospitable owner/chef/waiter.
