Had the hotpot and sushi all-you-can-eat for £18.99 and for what you get it’s actually pretty reasonable. We had the hot & spicy broth and the lamb broth, both of which were very good (the hot & spicy having quite a kick to it). There is a decent selection of meats and veg to cook in the broth. The sushi was good, but the selection wasn’t great - you only get one salmon nigiri, but can order as much of the rest of the menu. It is a decent meal, but having spent time in Japan and had amazing sushi and hotpot (shabu shabu & nabe) there, I will always be very critical of any Japanese food outside of Japan!
I visited Yes Sushi for the first time recently, and had a fantastic meal. I was impressed with the sushi quality and freshness, and found the menu selection to be quite extensive. The service was friendly and prompt as well.
I tried a dragon roll, salmon skin roll, and a prawn tempura roll - all of which were delicious. Most people in the restaurant seemed to be eating the hot pot - which looked and smelled amazing - so I will definitely be back to try it!
As with any other chain restaurant you know you'll get here. The food is good for a chain and you can plan how much you want to spend based on the colour of the bowls. However, I'm always tempted to get more since the sushi is plated and goes in front of you. The free refill of a miso soup is a nice touch and I like their warm dishes, especially chicken katsu curry and chicken yakisoba. The sushi is all right but I'd normally go for the hot dishes since I find them better value. There are definitely better sushi places in Edinburgh but this Yo Sushi is just so conveniently located on Princess Street that I'd sometimes pop in while shopping. However, I woudln't plan a proper dinner here since there are nicer Japanese places with better atmosphere in Edinburgh.
So stuffed after deciding to go with "all you can eat sushi" here. Such a good and bad idea at the same time; because you can't really stop eating sushi and when you do it's because your body had reached its saturation point. The sushi and prawn starters were decent here, especially liked the chicken and prawn sushi. Love the concept of choosing 3 at a time so you don't waste (although we did). Nice place and staff as well, even though they take a little time to comprehend what you're saying.
A very decent place , love the miso soup , deep flavour .I loved the hotpot and sushi all you can eat for £18. From the hotpot you can choose from different broths and various meats /veggies/seafood .Sushi has to be ordered one by one , you can only choose standard makis (no dragon , spider rolls etc) but overall good selection . Atmosphere is okay but pretty plain decor .The place is easy to find and a nice break away from the super busy princess street mess .
All in all good experience
Great food, great service.. Went here for a birthday meal. LOVED IT!
Service was brilliant, food was really tasty and it was good to try something new. Highlight was being brought banana fritter's and deep fried ice cream as a birthday surprise at the end of the meal. This wasnt planned.
Price is great too, would definitely recommend. Worked about £20 per head with drinks, starter and main.
Hanover Street seems to be one of those weird places for restaurants. It's decidedly hit or miss, but the good news for townies is that recently a new wave of restaurants have opened and look like they'll be around for a while (as opposed to that for some
Busy at weekends. Dark atmosphere and plain interior. Menu could be more detailed for those of us unfamiliar with Japanese food.
Lovely simple miso soup was a good choice of starter. I enjoyed the teriyaki chicken with udon noodles but regretted not being more adventurous as the sushi looked delicious.
Listen out for the impressive karaoke backstage ;) and practice your chopstick skills!
I have loved this place and where I initiated my boyfriend to sushi. I think what attracted me the most about this place is the lunch 'all you can eat' deal. I'm used to all you can eat sushi restaurants back home in Canada, so I got excited when I found this one. While the variety of sushi included on the 'all you can eat' list is quite short, it still includes many of my favourite (including veggie and prawns tempura) and so I felt quite satisfied!
I love YES Sushi. It's my favourite place for Japanese food in Edinburgh, and I dine here at least once a month. The restaurant is spacious, clean and the staff are friendly. They have a huge selection of goodies to try on the menu.
My favourites are the dragon roll, sweet and spicy chicken, salmon and avocado maki, and pumpkin croquettes. They also do a buffet lunch/ dinner which is great if you have a huge appetite.
Food: Japanese
Price: Around £40 for two people
Atmosphere: Young, Busy, Fun
Review: We need more like this in London! I have been to Yes Sushis during a little trip in Edinburgh and it I can tell you that it is impossible to go out of the restaurant with a little space in your belly. For £19 this place is all-you-can-eat restaurant with sushis, meat, noodle, vegetable. This is a great value for money where you just have to tick from the menu what you want to eat.
A little advice, you can also order a menu "A la carte", however if you are two or more you will have to go with the same menu.
The restaurant is quite busy, moreover if you opt for the Hotpot, you can "only use it for two hours" which can be seen as quite pressuring if you want to relax, but at the end you only use it for maximum 45 minutes.
The only negative thing is the sauce. Indeed the restaurant provides you instructions to do the sauce of your hotpot however it seems quite complicated to use it when you do not really know about Asian food..
Great for when you're really hungry!
Cost: £12-£20pp
Located just a few minutes from the shopping street Yes Sushi always has a lot of space and has a great selection of Japanese food.
I would recommend the hotpot together with the all-you-can-eat sushi. The Sushi is really fresh and there is a vast selection of ingredients for the hotpot. You will definitely not leave this place hungry. And combined with a selection of hot or cold teas and/or some Asia beers, you're bound to have a great night.
Positives: quality and quantity of food is great.
Negative: the service can be a little slow and things can get lost in translation, and one can only pay in cash for the hotpot, which is a bit of a downer.
Same of the dishes are are hit or miss. But overall it's okay. If you're familiar with Asian cuisine you're NOT going to be amazed. Portions are quite generous. Prices above average.
That sushi was really good! The best one I've had in scotland. I think Lisa served us, she was very nice and cute, even though it was late and she probably worked all day already.
My favourite sushi was the one with chicken and crispy onions on top, damn, those were good! 🤤🤤
We enjoyed a late dinner here and we’re not disappointed. Before I get into the food, I’d really like to highlight the exceptional service we received. The staff were so kind, patient and professional. Samantha made excellent recommendations and was just an all round lovely person.
For appetizers we had the chicken gyoza and salt and pepper chicken wings.
For main course we ordered prawn tempura sushi roll, the salmon avocado Temaki hand roll and chicken teriyaki udon.
For dessert we ordered passion fruit and strawberry cheesecake mochi.
The food was fresh and absolutely delicious. My favorite was definitely the udon, but if I were ever in town again, I’d order the exact same menu. Thank you for a great experience.
The food was really good and really affordable. I went with my sister today and ordered the lunch set for 2 and we were really satisfied.
The crew was also very welcoming and friendly
Originally came for a quick bite, but end up ordering lunch and trying out some delicious cocktails.
Tokyo kiss is definitely a must try- such a refreshing and not so sweet cocktail.
As for lunch we had chicken katsu, salmon and avocado maki. Followed by an ice cream which was served in a coconut (how cute is that?!).
Overall we enjoyed our visit and would happily recommend it and the waiting staff was great too!
Amazingly tasty and super value 8 course taster menu for 23.99! Highly recommend.
Super friendly staff, great food and atmosphere. The sushi tastes fresh and delicious. The restaurant was busy but the staff were so organized and on top of it. The waitress Sasha was very nice and had so much patience with my daughter and surprised her with a free dessert to celebrate her birthday.
Highly recommend!
Had the lunch deal which was tasty and very good value. We had the salad with the mixed starters, katsu chicken and teriyaki salmon. Also had the cherry tea which was lovely. Great service would definitely eat here again.
Excellent food and service received tonight, especially from the waitress with bleached blonde sort hair. Both waitresses was worked off their feet but nothing was too much
Food was outstanding and great value for money
We ordered the target menu for 6 , and wow!!!
Ignore the negative reviews, when a place is so busy you expect slower service.
We enjoyed our 3hour *slow* meal and had time to suggest between courses
Highly recommend
Yum, yes sushi, yessss sushi. Been a good while since I was home in Vancouver, Canada and had sushi that was this good at a reasonably price. Visited a couple times during my visit. Staff were friendly, attentive and conscious of allergens - with a comprehensive allergen menu available.
