Now in their new home on Dundas Street, this bakers was amazing! I only had a coffee and cake but the coffee was perfect, the brownie lovely and soft with just the right amount gooeyness that I love in a brownie! The decor is fresh and calm and the staff were also really friendly. I will definitely head back for lunch one day soon as their salads looked completely stunning - all fresh and vibrant. The bakery is at the back with a few tables to sit in and then they also have a handful of tables outside. Brilliant addition to the Edinburgh scene
It was a considerable relief when after having to quit their premises on Queen Street, the Archipelago Artisan Bakery found space to relocate that was both nearby and offered an enhanced, shop-front opportunity. The place, on Dundas Street, used to be home to Agoo 2, until fairly recently. They’ve converted the place, which was part shop/part cafe, into part shop/part bakery, and it’s a considerable hive of activity with three bakers and one counter staff member all buzzing about when I visited.
This could possibly be the best food I had in Edinburgh. The scone was perfectly salty and crunchy, yet soft in the middle; a perfect vehicle for some Scottish jam. The ginger slice was absolutely to die for! But the clear winner is the vegan lemon olive oil shortbread. I will be talking about it forever, I think. And not to mention, the place itself is quaint and charming in all the right ways! A plethora of WONDERFUL choices, and fantastic customer service as well. Thank you from Canada!
