Lovely cafe in an arty space, tucked away from the hub bub of the old town. These friendly folk use the excellent J Atkinson & Co beans and provide meals and cakes. Not open Sundays
A Local Secret. Tucked away at the bottom of a narrow lane is this little gem. From the outside it could be an office. Once inside the gallery connection is clear with tapestries on the wall and reels of cotton dotted around. Up to the counter and from the tempting selection of baking I opt for the almond croissant and a latte. The seating area is spacious, light and airy but the seating is hard and uncomfortable. Both the coffee and pastry were nice but the cup was very small. They must have borrowed them from the Kilimanjaro Cafe !! To sum up, a good effort but could do better.

Straight to the point. If you want excellent coffee come here. If you don't Caffe Nero is at the top of the street. Enjoy.
Love a bit of Urban Spooning in this joint. Thanks for keeping my eyes open and my belly full x
Lovely, airy, bright space serving delicious coffee by expert baristas. Perfect for morning coffee or hearty lunch. Gorgeous gallery right next door - highly recommended!
Best cafe for fabulous coffee, food & loveliest people. Dovecot Studios is great too. Definitely recommend. A++++++
Brilliant coffee, great food. This place is a little haven! Perfect to slip into for some of Edinburgh's best coffee (Artisan Roast), or stay longer and try some of their food. Amazing sandwiches, salads, and the potato and haggis soup was something to remember.
Do give it a go, you won't regret it.
Great coffee great craic. Couldnt live without Stags double shot flat white. Best coffee in Edinburgh without a shadow...and I'm a fussy besom. For pure artistry of coffee making its a must. Owners wit is ascerbic but ....oh god, his florentines are sweet. I love the place...GO TRY!
Super for a coffee or lunch. Really good food and some unusual mixes: great space, very cool
An Oasis of Calm.... My Mother and I were here during the Fringe and I have to say the cafe at the Dovecott is an oasis of calm - if only I had discovered it and the lovely staff 3 weeks earlier... I will return. Oh the food is fantastic too! :-)
Perfect sandwiches, lovely helpful staff, and a cute post-it loyalty card system. Beautiful.
A little bit of heaven. The best coffee in town; coffee, walnut and maple syrup cake to stay alive for and eat as often as possible; and the unexpected delight of haggis and tattie soup. Never yet had anything that was less than fantastic. A wonderfully calm place just off the hurly burly of Edinburgh's Southside. lovely staff, and great food. A heavenly oasis.
I’m sorry not to have visited the Dovecot Studios and their marvellous cafe before now. It’s a truly excellent spot
Lovely. Perfect spot to chill with a nice coffee, cake and great atmosphere. And the pistachio and cranberry flapjack (with a white chocolate topping) was divine ... possibly the best I've ever tasted!
Loved this place! Food and coffee is amazing and the space looks very nice. It is situated in a calm street and also having the expo space with the little store attached is nice.
Very nice cafe with a clean decoration, cool atmosphere and very friendly staff. I've been here a few times and really enjoyed the soup and the coconut bread. The bagel was not my favourite though (but the only meal which I remembered to take a picture of).
I loved this place, I made a very random selection of the menu and it came to me very delicious..... I had the banana bread and peanut butter with seeds ( where I didn't try it ever before and there are no pics for anything in the menue) with freah raspberries and blueberries and a cappuccino..... Its sooooo delicious.... Coffee also is yummy and the staff are really friendly
Had very nice gluten free soup and oatcakes here. Very good food and service. Thank you.
Easy to access from the exhibition nice warm cheese scone and a good cup of coffee
Lovely place, just wished it opened on Sundays, seems like such a waste!
Nice lunch with tasty home made soup. Efficient and friendly staff. It is on the site of an old Victorian swimming pool. Would visit again.
Yummy. Everything is wonderful, and some good gluten free options -- they do their sandwiches on a nice gf roll. Their cucumber and sesame salad was particularly delightful, as was the homemade custard cream!
Had coffee. Light and spacious with helpful service from staff. Fresh salads, breads and cakes.
Great coffee, orderable at non-standard temperatures. Basic cafe fare done well. Their ingredients are high quality, locally sourced stuff (judging by their bacon and salad leaves). Highly recommended.
Lovely new cafe at Dovecot Studios. Run by the hugely experienced team behind Pinkerton's Catering. The space is light and airy and the food is delicious. We had lunch there (The best cheese scone I've had for a long time!) followed by excellent coffee.
One of my favourite coffee shop in town. And it's right in the dovecot gallery, as a treat. One of the best soya milk cappuccino and lots of lovely cakes. Had sandwich here too in the past and they were always top quality and very filling. Would recommend
I had the three course, Pinks at Home takeaway last night and everything about it was delicious!
Quality menu and food. Excellent antidote to the situation we all find ourselves in. Well done, again, to the girls at Pinks !
I've been to many of the cafes in the surrounding area and the Dovecot Cafe really is fantastic. There aren't many cafes which do coffee of this quality and the gluten free variety of sweet treats is something that Edinburgh is greatly missing. To top it all off the atmosphere is great and the staff are super friendly. I will definitely be coming back.
Cafe is very busy, which may account for not great service.
Exhibitions are always great
I thoroughly recommend a visit to this cafe. Friendly staff, super clean, and delicious food. I had the apple and olive oil cake, with maple syrup icing. Outstanding.
Very nice cafe, serving a lovely range of soups, sandwiches and tasty cakes. Great for lunch after a day in town, visiting the exhibitions here or at the nearby National Museum of Scotland.
