We’ve been walking by for a week so on our wander to find food this evening we stopped in. I had the steak pie and hubby had a cheese burger. The pie literally could have gone in my pocket and been fine it was so tightly made. lol Just beef in crust. The side veg were not really cooked except the carrots which looked so old I felt sorry for them. Husband said the burger was good. The folks were friendly and the atmosphere was very ‘old world’ as we say. Dark and cozy.

The Haymarket pub is a great location to pop in for a drink or some grub! I visited the bar on a Thursday evening with friends and we found it to be exactly what we were looking for! Staff: The staff were very friendly and atrentive! They let me taste test a few of their Ale's before deciding on the drink I wanted. They also walked around the pub near closing time to let the customers know how long was left. The Layout: The pub and bar is laid out in a but open plan style. There is plenty of space within the bar but there may not be a lot of seating available if you hit it at a busy time! The bar counter has a load of taps with a wide variety of beers, ales, stout and cixsr to choose from. There is something for everyone to choose here! Food: From the menu it looks like this is a good pub for pub grub however, we did not have any on the night we visited. Location: The pub is located on the corner in the middle of Haymarket and its just a 10 minute walk from Princes St. Ideal location if you wanted to get away from the busy tourist area but not be too far at the same time. The pub is right along the tram line and the Haymarket train station is just around the corner with a bus and tram platform as well so you can get to go from here to anywhere in Edinburgh. Overall Opinion: I highly recommend swinging by the Haymarket pub if you are in Edinburgh. The friendly atmosphere and great selection of beers will definitely have me coming back the next time that I am in Edinburgh!

Popped in on Saturday with my partner. Tried the fish pie (already tried other pies) which was on. My partner had the steak pie and enjoyed it but like an earlier reviewer the veg a bit old looking. I’ve found the same in other Nicolson pubs around the town. Staff friendly enough and good service. One thing different from other nicolson pubs had to order and pay at bar rather than table service. Maybe just a staffing issue. 😊

Very busy pub on a Friday evening but it was the night before a 6 Nations match. Sat for food very quickly even though we hadn't booked. Order from the table or bar, extensive menu & really good prices. Staff very helpful and the food was so delicious! The Stovies were gorgeous! Very lively but in a good way. Would definitely recommend 👍

Visited here on a trip to Edinburgh. Was quiet, which we didn't mind. Think we called in here twice for drinks whilst here and both times staff were pleasant and friendly. We did hope to grab some food here but we're told they weren't doing any. This didn't really matter and didn't spoil our visit.

A very nice classic Pub with a lot of the classics on the menu, including a very good Fish and Chips en delicious Pies, and the pies are the real pies with pastry all around. The drinkies are also very good, with 5 lagers on draft, including a few fantastic local Edinburgh lagers. A really must go if you want fabulous pub food with world class service!

The atmosphere is really cool, liked it so much. The food was good! We had to wait a bit but Mel did everything she could to accomodate us as best as possible. There was an issue with the food and she arranged a new plate and everything immediately. Even though some things went wrong, we would definitely come here again.

Took a large group of staff and clients for drinks in here. Clients were from all over the UK and were amazed by the very friendly, chatty, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Even advising and helping them choose whiskies. Excellent service.

Very busy spot with a small area for serving food. The pub is big and feel its potential would be further increased if it was all open to dining. Friendly and efficient staff and food is beautiful. Service charge included. Worth a visit.

Reserved the mezzanine floor for retirement drinks for my friends and colleagues. It was a great space and close to the bar. The one thing that was missing was a notice that the space was booked as we had to ask a few people to leave until I asked the bar staff if they could put a sign up.

What a place. I was served all day by the three amigos. Daniel, Michael and Jack. Despite Michael lacking in the comedy department I thought the service was second to none. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a bite to eat or even a quick pint while waiting on their train.
