The staff was friendly and professional, me and my partner had a Sunday lunch here and we felt welcome since the first step in. We had a SB Platter as a sharer starter and it was delicious. The bone marrow was succulent, but the haggis croquettes a bit disappointing, they lacked that flavour one expects from haggis.
For main we had the Chateaubriand and the meat itself was absolutely heavenly. Such a shame it wasn't served on a hot slate or an iron plate to keep it warm. This details would have elevated the lunch to another level. I know I am persnickety but I will give 5 stars anyway, because the meat was wonderful! The sides were tasty, and the sauce lovely. Highly recommended restaurant for a meaty meal!
Just good quality steak overall, have been here on a regular basis and I keep coming back. Good helpful staff, nice ambiance, although it can get a bit noisy when it’s busy.
A lovely restaurant that feels up market but you don't need to be overdressed for. The menu wasn't very big and they were out of a couple of items which was disappointing but the service was good and it wasn't too long to wait for food. We had the bavette steak which was beautifully cooked and tender. My son ate from the kids menu which had his favourite of chicken nuggets and chips. The nuggets were also tender and the amount was ample for a child. The only improvement there would be to offer a veg with the kids meal but he was happy. Would definitely recommend eating here.
Very nice and stilish place. The food is awesome, from the mussels to the steak. Maybe the service is a little bit too fast but be sure, you'll have a dinner experience to remember

I was here with friends on a Tuesday night and we took advantage of the Tuesday 'steak & shake' deal. The steak was a little smaller than we had expected but was cooked perfectly and really tasty. The milk shakes were great, and with each member of the group having a different flavour all were satisfied! The atmosphere was contemporary and relaxed - I would recommend, it was great value for money.
Enjoyed a delicious steak dinner on a quiet midweek evening, thanks to a Christmas gift voucher. Well cooked, good service, pricey.

I would love to say that I’m a bit of a coniseur when it comes to steak but this is the most amazing meal as in steak (sirloin) I have ever ever had!! It was beautifully cooked and tasted divine, melted in my mouth and the rest of the meal was absolutely delicious, as in succulent and so so tasty. My daughters aged 14 and 23 absolutely hands down said they thought it too was the best steak they had ever eaten. Thank you for making my visit to your wonderful restaurant so special and giving us a memory of an absolutely brilliant super tasty meal!! I will definitely be coming back and spreading my visit with you with so many people!! Thank you!!

Steak is fantastic! I've been twice now, and both times had a great experience. I'll break it down:
The decor: the restaurant is huge, which is great if you want to have some space and not feel like you're squeezed in somewhere. It's a really nice place to go if you just want to have a conversation. The decor is very stylish and the lighting is low.
The service: both times I've been, the wait staff have been attentive and friendly, and the food has always turned up in good time. They're also great at giving advice about which steak to get!
The food: the steak is (as you would expect) fantastic! Perhaps surprisingly, the rest of the food is definitely worth mentioning to - in particular, i highly recommend the mac and cheese - it's incredible! Both time i've been we've ended up ordering way too many sides and being completely stuffed, but it's very hard to choose between all the great things they have on offer.
Overall, I love this place - it's a great treat restaurant and a sure-fire place if you're just looking for a great steak!
Table of 11 on a Sunday evening. Service was prompt and staff friendly and knowledgeable. Great ambience and lighting bought about by the decor. It would be a great place for a romantic meal! Steak was of the highest quality as you would expect when paying the higher price.
I've been to Steak a few times, only as part of a large group and it's always been good.
The food is simple but well executed. That's exactly what I want. They don't skimp on the portions.
They don't skimp on the staff either and this is crucial when getting the food plated and to the tables. It makes a huge difference.
Steak have accommodated and coped with all sorts of strange requests. A bonus.
The bar area downstairs is Beer and Skittles. It seems to be wear people go before and after their meal to knock back pints. Whereas Steak gives me space at a table and a comfy seat, Beer and Skittles does not. It's super popular, crowded and hot. If you're a hot young thing, or think you are, then you'll love the venue. I don't. I prefer to hide upstairs at the less well known Steak bar.
Looking for a Christmas party or a place to take a bunch of clients to (if they're not vegetarian) then Steak is a sure in.
Probably the best steak! My wife and I came here during our first visit to Edinburgh. The atmosphere and décor of the place is fantastic...very cozy. The service was excellent and what you would expect from a place like this. I spoke to the manager directly to compliment the place and to let the chef know how fantastic the food was. I will definitely come back to this place if I'm in Edinburgh.
