The staff were pleasant, my meal was enjoyable, and there was colour on a grey day. Plus I'd just spent two hours looking at Grayson Perry's Smash Hits. What's not to like.

We stopped by after our visit to the Grayson Perry exhibition. Upon arrival, the waiter was quick to acknowledge and had a table set up for us by the window within minutes! We stopped for a drink and a bite for lunch. I ended up having the Mac n Cheese with the addition of bacon! It was probably one of the best Mac n Cheese dishes that I'd had in quite some time! Full of cheese and cauliflower, well seasoned and the bacon was a nice touch! The portion size however, was plenty! More in fact! We highly recommend this cafe/ restaurant even for a spot of tea or cocktails!

The cafe & restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere with outstanding food and very friendly staff. Highly recommend a visit. If you can get a window table it has a lovely view of the city.

A Delightful Experience of Art, Conversation, and Exceptional Service at Contini Restaurant, National Scottish Gallery. I had the pleasure of visiting the National Scottish Gallery and I chose to enjoy my breakfast at Contini Restaurant this morning. I must say it was an experience to remember! From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, I was captivated by the delightful atmosphere and impeccable service provided by the staff. First and foremost, the inviting ambiance of the restaurant made me feel right at home. The contemporary yet cozy decor perfectly complemented the artistic surroundings of the gallery. It was a treat for both my eyes and taste buds. One aspect that truly set this place apart was the memorable conversation I had with the waiter, Aitch. Despite my initial uncertainty about the correct spelling of his name, Aitch was incredibly friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. His warm personality added an extra layer of charm and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Aitch's exceptional service throughout the meal demonstrated his attentiveness to the needs of each customer. He effortlessly guided me through the menu, offering insightful recommendations tailored to my preferences. Such personalized attention is a rarity and deserves special acknowledgment. Let's talk about the food - it was simply outstanding! From the moment the dishes were presented, it was evident that great care had been taken in their preparation. The flavors were exquisite, with a perfect balance of textures and well-crafted combinations of ingredients. Each bite was a symphony of taste that left me wanting more. The menu offered a diverse range of choices, catering to various dietary preferences and desires. Whether you prefer traditional Scottish cuisine or innovative modern dishes, there is something to satisfy every palate. The use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients elevated the quality of each dish, emphasizing the restaurant's commitment to both taste and sustainability. Overall, my experience at Contini Restaurant in the National Scottish Gallery was truly remarkable. The combination of the beautiful atmosphere, delightful conversation with Aitch, and the outstanding food made it an unforgettable visit. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience fused with art and excellent service.

First experience of afternoon tea and I think it would be hard to beat! Plentiful food and all of it extremely tasty. The sandwiches and petit fours were delicious, the vanilla cream that came with the (huge) scone was amazing. The staff were lovely are very attentive despite being very busy. Would highly recommend the experience to anyone trying to decide where to have afternoon tea in Edinburgh.

This is one of the few restaurants that we actually ate at three times during our travels in Scotland. We ate once inside and twice outside. This is an amazing location. At least everywhere we sat. You have a great view of this park as well as a lot of Edinburgh and at least while we were there most of the time the weather was reasonable. the food was really good. We had breakfast twice and dinner once. The location is amazing close to everything and there’s a free museum literally right outside the door. That is actually recommended on a lot of travel websites. Highly recommended and we actually did not have to wait too long to get in.

I've been to this restaurant for breakfast three times now. I keep bringing friends here. Service has always been fine but today we were served by Dora and she was absolutely fantastic. Scottish breakfast is great and filling. The whipped cream and marshmallows you get with the hot chocolate is hard to beat. The dining room itself has high ceilings, very bright and airy. We will keep coming back

We called in here for lunch after a wander around the gallery. The service here was so good. All staff were friendly and helpful. My mum and I had a buttery each, we'd never had these before and I didn't know what they were. They seem to be a croissant type pastry with a choice of savoury toppings. They were okay. The chips were delicious!

Five star service and restaurant you very spacious and comfortable atmosphere with beautiful architecture. Family business and certainly the passion shows with the hosts dedication and care. We purchased a Edinburgh tattoo dinner ticket which was extremely good value and very much enjoyed. The ticket included a delicious three course meal with drinks. After entertaining bagpipes from an award winning musician we took a short walk up to the tattoo enjoyed the night thoroughly. Highly recommend visiting the restaurant café at any time for a meal or just a café visit. Try their delicious hot apple juice.

Excellent food and very good price, though I wouldn’t recommend the fish and chips, it was just a bit basic.
