We had an enjoyable dining experience. The food was delicious, and we particularly loved the variety of flavors in their dishes. The unique touch of posted notes scattered throughout the restaurant added a quirky ambiance to the overall dining atmosphere.

Sushi was amazing! Really tasty. Staff were good at helping and recommending dishes too. Was spying on nearby tables too and the Ramen looks big and beautiful so will try that next time!

Coming in for a last minute decision based dinner made for a good decision. The atmosphere is fairly quiet and relaxing, the ongoing hub hub allowing for conversation without the need of shouting while the lighting allows for seeing without needlessly blinding a person. Around the walls you'll find post-it notes filled with thoughts and creations from clients, all done through the post-it blocks and pens provided at the tables. The service being nice and speedy was a definite plus as well. But the food... definitely the star of the show. The gyoza were soft to chew, ramen bowl was tasty, takoyaki were delicious to have and the kimchi, albeit being too fresh (little to no fermentation), had a nice flavour as well. Overall, we came out well satisfied, stomachs filled to the brim with warm feelings and tasty food. Would go again.

I’ve had M&R on my list of places to eat for ages and so my wife and I decided to finally go. It was a pretty cool restaurant with unique features and a mixture of seating. We sat on the high chairs next to the open kitchen which was a nice spot. We got to see the chefs perform their craft which was awesome. The service was pretty good and the staff were friendly. We enjoyed our food and the portions were substantial. We got the pork bao bun which was a special and it was very special. It was the tasty thing we had there. My wife got the katsu curry which she really liked. I got this black garlic pork ramen dish which was nice but I thought the pork lacked a bit of flavour. I wouldn’t chose that dish again. I regret not getting sushi because it looked well presented and I am sure it would have been delightful. We also got a couple of starters that were great! I tried the traditional Japanese soda drink which was a little disappointing. Not really my cup of tea but an interesting bottle. The value for money was surprisingly good. Will I be back? Probably one day but I won’t be rushing.

Food was great! We had the black garlic tonkotsu and the chicken ramen, both very tasty and flavourful. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Clean restaurant, tasty food, friendly staff and for the amount of food we actually ordered I didn't find it expensive at all. Would definitely go back.

If you want to try something different this is the place for you. The food was delicious and didn't have to wait long for it. The employees needed to be called if you needed something they don't come to you like usual to ask from time to time. But it was understandable since the restaurant is really busy. Still, even if it was packed the atmosphere was pretty cosy. Would definitely go back there.

The staff here is super nice! I came 7 mins before they actually start but they still put me into a seat and took the order. The food here is delicious and I love how the sticky notes are everywhere. It feels like so many people are here with me even though I'm eating alone. Totally recommend!

First night in Edinburgh, had craving for Japanese cuisine. Maki & Ramen was just 3 minutes walk from hotel. The sushi was very fresh. Ramen was very authentic. Highly recommended.

vegan ramen was amazing- also liked their vibe inside for the big tables where you have to take the shoes off. the service was also very quick despite a very laid back vibe inside

Such friendly, professional and polite service. Lovely food and matcha creme brulé was of a really high standard and worth the price. Great vegetarian options- lots to choose from, high quality and able to make concessions and alterations on request.

I really liked this place. There are a couple of things to keep in mind, it is technically a hibachi grill in maps, but you need to sit at the bar to see the cook make it. The menu is pretty wide, and the portions are big, so you won't be able to try everything in one sitting. And it is a little on the pricier side of restaurants. With that said: Service was amazing! When you show up, you are greeted with "Irasshaimase!” (いらっしゃいませ) by what feels like the whole crew. The waitresses are very friendly and knowledgeable. They will go over dishes and love to talk about what they recommend. The food was really good and filling. I would recommend the spicy teriyaki if you want a little bit of a kick (fairwarning, the spicy part was in the rice for me). The salmon teriyaki roll was one of the dishes that we saw as they made in the grill hibachi style very good. The pork gyoza, as a recommendation, try without the dipping sauce, and then with the sauce, the sauce will really make a difference in taste, and that was pretry cool. The chicken katsu curry looked just like in the picture and did not disappoint. Overall, pricey, to say the least. But if you don't really do ramen, it's a nice way to treat yourself. The ambiance and the food are well worth it.

Following a rainy walk around Edinburgh, my husband and I were in the mood for a warm meal and stumbled upon this charming restaurant. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The decor of the establishment was tasteful and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The food was simply outstanding. We decided to try the vegan black garlic tonkotsu ramen 🍜 and share a portion of vegan Gyoza 🥟. The ramen was especially remarkable, with a thick, flavorful broth that was infused with the subtle yet delightful taste of black garlic. In fact, we enjoyed the meal so much that we plan to return during the week. On weekends, the restaurant is frequently packed, but we look forward to experiencing it again soon.

The best ramen in Scotland. Broth was amazing, noodles cooked to perfection, egg, bamboo and the meat was scrumptious. Ramen was super affordable for the quality and quantity. Highly recommend. The mochi were tasty and not too sweet. We left our little post-it and had fun reading the ones from previous customers. Staff was friendly. Thank you!

Food came too fast but was delicious. Felt crowded though and staff stayed friendly but we'd just finished and they were kind of asking if we wanted anything else with a pointed look of "if not please pay and leave so other customers can take your place". We did get takeout containers for the rest of our food and I would definitely recommend if you don’t mind the crowdiness (and some rushing on busy night). Food was great!
