They usually have a couple of soups, a couple of mains, some salads and sandwiches. A selection of cold drinks, some hot drinks. Sometimes a pudding such as apple crumble. I attended a few concerts during the Festival, in the church above, and quite a few other events at the bookfest, the other end of George Street. The undercroft was a good place to have a light lunch and a drink between events. (That applies equally outside Festival time). Nice home-made soup. Light dished like cauliflower cheese or a bowl of chilli. A small side salad with each main usually with coleslaw and some greenery. Nothing spectacular but I rate it 5* because it is what it is and the staff are so friendly and helpful. You don't have to serve haute cuisine to be a nice place to eat.
Homemade Soup and Bread. Prepared daily at the Café.
People running the cafe are absolutely lovely and make you feel at home. It feels like a small family. Will definitely come back whilst I live here in Edinburgh. Prices are significantly lower than the average.
