Cannot fault our visit to Browns 23rd of March, we were a walk-in of 15, late at night. The service was superb from start to finish, our waitress did a fantastic job and the food was enjoyed by all.
Situated at the end of grand George street, this stylish brasserie deliveries consistent food and lovely service. We went for a Sunday breakfast which consisted of "traditional" i.e. Scottish fry up (juicy pork sausage, black pudding, beans and tomato, plus eggs or your choice and a suspicious looking mushroom), and also opted for a healthy choice of granola. The food arrived quickly and was delicious! Coffee was strong. Nothing really negative to say! Would love to spend more time in this place next time I am in town, New Town that is!
If I could have lobster benedict from here everyday I would. So so good. Good choice of mains and drinks, I had the crispy duck salad which was crispy alright and pretty good but nowhere as good as his pie-major food jealousy. Would happily go for brunch here every weekend...maybe every day.
Been here a few times, and have never been disappointed. Food is good, a little pricey, but good. This time service was a bit slow, and when I asked for chicken on top of my dish I did not get it, but it was still tasty. Would go back, food is really yummy.
Consistantly good!. Lunches in Browns are always a treat - keep an eye out for the specials. Service is top class and its reasonably priced for George Street.
Seafood :-). Been going to browns for years. the seafood platter is wonderful - have it every time. quite partial to the flat breads too. service nearly always good, professional, polite. maitre d can be a bit quick/cold
Great lobster tagliatelle and they have an offer on cocktails: Cosmo and berry martini are great at £5 only! Really good location on George street too.
Had dinner on New Years Eve - large table of 11 family members. The service was good even though it was getting really busy as the evening progressed. Definitely need to make a reservation! We place our food order in advance and that really helped a lot.
Aside from warm beer, the food was define. It was (very) large portions - had no complaints from the hungry eaters.
Very pleased with food, service and location.
The scallops were excellent and the main courses, burger and/or fish and chips left nothing to be desired. The wine selection pleased us too. My desert, Eton mess was good. The Meringue was top, I personally would have preferred more fruits and less cream.
Friendly and attentive service. Nice ambiance.

Absolutely excellent! Just walking past around lunch time, spied the lunch specials and dropped in. Jacob was a wonderful host, and the food presented beautifully and tasted amazing. My partner said this was the best risotto she ever had. Such a delightful fit out.
The food overall was good(would give it 3 stars) except for one dish which was the mango salad the pictures; it was quite bland even with the mango and the salad tasted old other than that everything was fine. The service was a great man with slicked back hair was our waiter and he was very apologetic and professional when we didn't eat the salad asking if it wasn't okay etc. He even came back and offered a dessert on the house.
Browns was amazing. We had a lovely warm welcome from the host who greeted us and showed us to our table (which also made me feel very fancy). The waiter who then served our table for the night was also very friendly and looked after us well. The food was amazing! We had the pork belly and the salmon and it was so good😍 and then for dessert we had the cheese board and the brioche with caramelized banana. I 100% recommend the brioche dessert, I'm deffo going to order it again next time I go. All the ingredients were fresh and everything was amazing, right down to the decor of the place which was also beautiful. 100% recommend! Thanks for a great dinning experience!!
My friend and I ate here for dinner and the food was absolutely delicious. There was so many different dishes to choose and it was such creative menu, not just your everyday dinner. We wanted to try everything. The prices is reasonable.
My first visit here and we were a party of 10 ,the service was excellent,and the food amazing ,I had prawns and chorizo followed by fillet off beef and scallops the food is excellent 😀

Came here for lunch after visiting the Scottish Portrait Gallery.
So glad we did. We had the 3 course lunch special and a couple drinks. It was amazing food with vegetarian options. Not being a local it's hard to find the best places but if you are in New Town in Edinburgh do yourself a favour and eat here.
Absolutely fantastic! Booked for my wedding reception and the staff and food couldn’t have been more perfect if the tried! Emmy was fabulous with the cake, our server was amazing and all complements to the chefs, the food was outstanding! All my guest commented how wonderful the food and staff was! Couldn’t have had a better night!
